Abstract

The aims of this research was to analyze the economic value and community’s perception toward coral reef ecosystem in  Bontang City. The economic valuation analyzed used Contingen Value Method (CVM) using WTP and WTA approach, while the community’s perception analyzed used description method. The results showed that the total economic value was Rp 121.640.484,35 per hectare per year (which are the option value Rp 39.678.507,95 per hectare per year, the existence value Rp 40.762.578,19 per year per hectare, and  the bequest value Rp 41.199.398,21 per year per hectare). Community’s perception consists of : (1) on the productivity of resources (100% respondents stated a decrease), (2) on the stability of the resources (50% stable, 50% unstable), (3) on the sustainability of resources (100% respondents stated very important)Keywords : economic valuation, perception, coral reef ecosystem, Bontang.

Abstract

Abstract

Bawis fish that is an endemic species and living in the seagrass biota has been found many in marine water of Bontang city. The activity of catching on this fishes has been worked by fishermen who were staying in Bontang city. Hence, if, the catching activity on this fishes without control in the entire year, it will be predicted overfishing and decreasing resources. The aim of this research was to determine the degradation rate and depreciation rate of Bawis fishes’ resources in Marine water of Bontang city. The data were collected with interview method and questionnaire to the splint and nets fishermen, and stakeholder, as well as from the capture fisheries division of DKP3 institution in Bontang city for collecting of data of time series. The results showed that Bawis fishes’ resources in Bontang city were in degradation and depreciation indicated since 2013. It has been showed by the standard coefficient value was 0.59 and 0.64 more than 0.5 in 2013, further, in 2016 increased to 0.619 and 0.68 respectively. The values of increasing were each more than 0.5, it means that Bawis fishes’ resources in Bontang city were in degradation and depreciation.

Abstract

Development of fisheries marketing information system which have been done by Fisheries Department is a kind of effort to provide marketing information for all of stakeholders within marketing channel. Its aims to reduce information asymmetry of fisheries marketing. As an innovation, such information system must be disseminated through appropriate communication channel. This article was written based on primary data sources gained by interviewing on perception of fish cage farmer to communication channel used to get marketing information. This research demonstrate that the most frequent communication channel used to get marketing information is personal communication channel.Keywords:  Information channel, fisheries marketing, information system.

Abstract

Mangrove forests are one of the vital ecosystem components for coastal areas. Therefore, conservation efforts are required for mangrove forests to prevent damage to the broader mangrove forests. The study of local communities through a perception and participation approach was conducted to identify the problem of mangrove forests damage. Aspects of community perception play an essential role in the formulation of mangrove forest management to ensure the sustainability of mangrove forests and maintain community welfare. The survey was conducted from September to December 2017. Respondents in this study are fishers and fish farmers in Muara Pantuan village, Anggana Sub-district, Kutai Kartanegara Regency whom their occupation directly related to the utilization of mangrove forests. Results showed that about 50% of respondents recognized the existence and function of mangrove forests. 15% of respondents did not know about the rules of mangrove forests. Even 30% of them very did not recognize. Regarding law enforcement, 43% of respondents did not know about the law enforcement of mangrove forests although almost 85% of them stated that the regulation of sustainable mangrove forests was required. Furthermore, for the participation of the community, about 57% of respondents were actively involved in the conservation of mangrove forests.Hutan mangrove adalah salah satu komponen ekosistem penting bagi kawasan pesisir. Dalam rangka mencegah kerusakan hutan mangrove yang lebih luas lagi maka perlu upaya pelestarian terhadap hutan mangrove yang masih tersisa melalui pendekatan persepsi dan partisipasi melalui kajian masyarakat lokal. Hal ini penting mengingat aspek persepsi masyarakat memegang peranan penting dalam perumusan pengelolaan hutan mangrove agar sumberdaya tersebut dapat dipertahankan dan ditingkatkan sehingga dapat menjamin keleslarian dan kepentingan sosial ekonomi masyarakat sekitarnya. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi serta tingkat partisipasi masyarakat dalam pelestarian hutan mangrove di Desa Muara Pantuan Kecamatan Anggana Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara. Kegiatan penelitian di lapangan dilakukan selama 2 (dua ) bulan dari bulan September 2017 sampai dengan Desember 2017. Populasi dalam penelitian adalah masyarakat yang terkait langsung dengan pemanfaatan hutan mangrove yaitu nelayan dan petambak. Persepsi masyarakat Desa Muara Pantuan Kecamatan Anggana mengenai hutan mangrove dimana 50% mengetahui keberadaan dan fungsi hutan mangrove. Tetapi masyarakat tidak mengetahui mengenai peraturan hutan mangrove sebesar 15%, bahkan 30% sangat tidak mengerti atau sangat tidak memahami mengenai peraturan hutan mangrove. Demikian pula mengenai sangsi dimana 43% menyatakan tidak tahu mengenai sanksi pemanfaatan hutan mangrove, Namun demikian 85% responden menyatakan perlunya peraturan untuk pelestarian hutan mangrove. Kemudian tingkat partisipasi masyarakat dalam pelestarian hutan mangrove di Desa Muara Pantuan adalah sebesar 57%, yang berarti bahwa masyarakat sudah cukup aktif untuk mendukung pelestarian hutan mangrove.

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to analyze the level of profit and feasibility of a capture fishery business using dogol fishing gear in Samboja Kuala Village, Samboja District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The research was carried out from January 2021 to October 2022 in Samboja Kuala Village, Samboja District, Kutai Regency, Kutai Kartanegara. Samples were taken of as many as 30 fishermen who use dogol fishing gear with reference to the census method. The results showed that the level of income in the capture fisheries business with dogol fishing gear in Samboja Kuala Village, Samboja District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency on average was Rp. 7,253,528/month. Then the results of the feasibility analysis of capture fisheries business with dogol fishing gear show that the RCR value is 1.39, the BEP production for each shrimp is 177 kg dogol shrimp, 96 kg spotted shrimp, and 60 kg flower/exported shrimp. dogol shrimp Rp.8,235, spotted shrimp Rp.52,152, and flower/exported shrimp Rp.41,173, and BEP Sales Rp.134,357,903, the payback period value or the ability of the business to return investment costs is 7 years, so the catch fishery business is using dogol fishing gear in Samboja Kuala Village, Samboja District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency is feasible to run.

Abstract

A Study on the Identification of Social Institutions for the Fishermen Community in Muara Pasir Village, Tanah Grogot District, Paser Regency. Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Mulawarman University. (Supervised by Hj. Fitriyana and Oon Darmansyah). This study aims to identify the social institutions that exist in the fishing community in Muara Pasir village, both formal and informal social institutions. This research was conducted for 19 months starting from October 2019 to January 2021. The sample method used was purposive sampling with a sample of 49 respondents. The analytical method used is descriptive qualitative analysis in the form of a narrative. The results of this study indicate that the social institutions in Muara Pasir Village consist of formal institutions, namely the Fishermen Partners Institute, the Sinar Pasifik fishing group, and the Leger fishermen group. Furthermore, the informal social institutions found in the fishing community in Muara Pasir Village are Community Service or mutual assistance. Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the effect of capital and employees on the production and income of milkfish ponds business as well as analyze the factor which is more dominant in affecting the production and income of milkfish ponds business. The field data collection was done in July 2019 in Babulu Laut Village. The sampling method used Proportional Stratified Systematic Sampling with the total sample of 32 people. The data analysis method used was multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS version 16. The research results obtained that: (1) capital and employee factors significantly affects the production and income of milkfish ponds business; (2) the dominant factor in affecting the production and income of milkfish ponds is the employee factors. Abstract

This research aims to know the cost, admission, profit, RCR, payback period and analysis of Break Even Point (BEP) from Si Bolang Restaurant and to know the consumers’ satisfaction level towards the service quality provided in Si Bolang Restaurant. The result of this research shows that Si Bolang restaurant business spends total of Rp. 77.898.256/month with admission of Rp. 100.315.000/month, thus the profit is as much as Rp. 22.416.744/month. The RCR is as much as 1,29 which means that Si Bolang restaurant business is profitable and feasible to be developed with investment capital payback period is 1 year 8 months 2 weeks 1 day. As a whole, BEP experiences profit with BEP of production as much as 1.839 portion/month < 2.400 portion/month, BEP of price is as much as Rp. 353.553 < Rp. 460.000 and BEP of Sale is as much as Rp. 48.157.675 < Rp. 100.315.000. The analysis of consumers’ satisfaction for the service quality provided by Si Bolang Restaurant in each dimension including tangible, reliability, responsiveness, assurance and emphaty as a whole obtained mean gap score of 0,25 which indicates that the consumers are very satisfied with the service quality provided by Si Bolang Restaurant. Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the financial feasibility of floating net cages in Bontang Eta Maritim Cooperation and to know the profit sharing pattern in Bontang Eta Maritim Cooperation. This research was conducted in January 2019 in floating cage of Bontang Eta Maritim Cooperation. The sampling method used was using census or total sampling with the total respondent of 30 people. The research result indicated that the recent cultivation business of floating net cages was financially feasible with NPV value by IDR3.218.655, IRR by 21%, Net B/C by 1.73 and Payback Period by 2.90 years (2 years 8 months 24 days). The analysis result of cultivation sensitivity in floating net cages on the operational cost and maintenance (O and M) increased by 4% and the total revenue or income decreased by 3,5% indicating that this cultivation business is not feasible to be developed (no go). The profit-sharing pattern between PT. Pupuk Kalimantan Timur and Bontang Eta Maritim Cooperation was 50%: 50% from the yields. For the cultivator, the Cooperation cut IDR5,000/kg from the total yield. Furthermore, the keeper of the floating net cages was given fee as much as IDR50,000/day.
