Abstract

The objectives of this study are: (1) to know pond farmers community perceptions over local climate change in Muara Badak Sub-district; (2) To identify adaptation strategies developed by pond farmers to cope with local climate change in Muara Badak Sub-district; (3) To analyze local climate change impact to farmers’ welfare in Muara Badak Sub-district and (4) To analyze the impact of pond area, temperature, rainfalls and rainy days variables to shrimp production in Muara Badak Sub-district. Study location was in Muara Badak Sub-district, Kutai Kartanegara District. Field data collection was done for 3 (three) months from June to September 2016. Purposive sampling method was applied to interview 40 pond farmer respondents and key informants consisting of Field Officer 2 people, Pond Farmer Group 2 people, District Office of Fisheries Affairs 1 people and Office of Samarinda District Navigation 2 people. Data analysis were the approach of perception analysis, descriptive statistics, Farmers’ Terms of Trade analysis and multiple regression model analysis. Results showed that farmers’ community in Muara Badak Sub-district perceived the local climate change has been impacting to shrimp pond production. Main adaptation strategy that is developed by farmers to face local climate change including changes of temperature, rainfalls and sea mean level in Muara Badak Sub-district is the water management in the sluite gates to frequently change water circulation and replacememnt. Local climate change does not impact to farmers’ welfare in the studied location based on the Terms of Trade value between 2015 (0.98) and 2016 (1.14). On the basis of multiple regression analysis, we knew that 80.7% of the shrimp production variation was affected by pond area, temperature, rainfalls and rainy days. Pond area variable very significantly affected to production while the remaining variables did not significantly affect it.

Abstract

Keberlanjutan produksi larva rajungan Portunus pelagicus telah dilakukan, namun sintasan yang diperoleh belum stabil. Aktivitas pencernaan diketahui sangat terkait dengan jenis pakan yang dikonsumsi larva sehingga berdampak terhadap pertumbuhan dan sintasannya. Enzim amilase, lipase, pepsin dan tripsin merupakan indikator biologis yang dapat menunjukkan kesesuaian jenis pakan yang dikonsumsi larva melalui kemampuannya untuk mencerna. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas enzim pencernaan pada larva rajungan. Data aktivitas enzim pencernaan yang diperoleh disajikan dalam bentuk grafik dan dianalisa secara deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, aktivitas enzim amilase, lipase dan tripsin mulai terdeteksi pada larva umur satu hari. Pola aktifitas enzim amilase menunjukkan peningkatan sejak larva berumur satu hari hingga hari ketujuhbelas kemudian cenderung menurun sampai akhir penelitian. Aktivitas enzim tripsin tinggi pada hari kesatu, tapi cenderung menurun pada hari ketiga dan kelima, dan meningkat lagi pada hari ketujuh sampai hari terakhir penelitian. Aktivitas amilase dan tripsin tertinggi selama periode waktu tersebut terjadi pada larva umur sebelas hari, sedangkan aktivitas enzim lipase cenderung stabil dari awal sampai akhir penelitian. Aplikasi budidaya, pemberian pakan buatan dengan kandungan karbohidrat, protein dan lemak tinggi sebaiknya dilakukan saat larva berumur sebelas hari.

Abstract

This research was aimed to evaluate the Solanum ferox/SF and bitter ginger (Zingiber zerumbet/ZZ) in increasing the effectiveness of the Pseudomonas sp. (EP-02) vaccine through immersion in tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). The dose used was 600 mg.L-1 of SF; 200 mg.L-1 of ZZ and vaccine bacterial density used 108 CFU.mL-1, the ratio between vaccine and extract was 1: 1: 1. The test were begun with immersion the tilapia in the vaccine and extract for 20 minutes, the challenges test was done on day 7th (d7), 14th (d14) and 21th (d21) post-vaccination with the combined bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila (EA-01) and Pseudomonas fluorescens (EP-01) (concentration of each bacteria was 105 CFU.mL-1) through intramuscular injection of 0.1 mL each fish. Abnormal swimming patterns, pathology of anatomy, total mortality, survival rate, RPS, were measured at week 2 after the challenge test. Application of SF and ZZ extracts in vaccination can increase the non specific (haematology parameters) and specific immunity (phagocytic index and antibody) since d7 of vaccination. While the increasing fish immunity in vaccine groups occurred in d14 post vaccination. The extract administration in vaccination reduced the fish mortality; increased SR and RPS of tilapia faster than the vaccination group. In conclusion, addition of SF and ZZ extracts can increase the efficacy of vaccines faster and more effectively from day 7th of infection.

Abstract

Perkembangan organ pencernaan sejalan dengan pertumbuhan larva, dan spesifik untuk setiap spesies. Proses kimia pencernaan dalam larva rajungan dimulai pada segmen lambung karena enzim pencernaan yang berperan dalam proses pencernaan kimia mulai dihasilkan oleh kelenjar lambung.. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui perkembangan organ pencernaan dan aktivitas enzim pencernaan larva rajungan. Data perkembangan organ pencernaan dan aktivitas enzim pencernaan disajikan dalam bentuk gambar dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil yang diperoleh dapat menjadi referensi dalam menentukan pencapaian fase definitif organ pencernaan. Berdasarkan studi histologis, organ pencernaan larva rajungan mulai berkembang ke tahap definitif pada hari 5 dan mencapai kesempurnaan pada hari ke -13 dan aktivitas enzim amilase dari organ pencernaan larva rajungan meningkat pada hari -5, demikian juga aktivitas enzim lipase dan pepsin.

Abstract

Uji coba budidaya dalam keramba telah dilakukan untuk mengetahui kelayakan kolam pengendap tambang batubara untuk areal budidaya ikan bagi masyarakat sekitar apabila kegiatan tambang telah ditutup, serta untuk mengetahui apakah produk ikan yang dihasilkan cukup aman untuk dikonsumsi manusia. Percobaan dilakukan pada bekas kolam pengendap DS2 milik PT KPC, dengan mengunakan 5 buah keramba apung berukuran 3 m x 1 m x 1 m yang dalam setiap keramba ditebar benih dari alam untuk ikan repang (Barbodes schwanenfeldii) ukuran rata-rata 20,2 g; puyau (Osteichilus kappenii) ukuran 66,1 g; dan mas (Cyprinus carpio) ukuran 28,96 g dari pemijahan di laboratorium sebanyak masing-masing 200 ekor, serta pepuyu (Anabas testudineus) ukuran rata-rata 41,4 g dari alam sebanyak 50 ekor, udang galah (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) ukuran 113,8 g juga dari alam sebanyak 50 ekor. Pakan diberikan secara sampai kenyang (ad libitum). DO, pH, suhu, DHL, dan kekeruhan diukur harian, sedangkan ikan diukur pertumbuhan bobotnya. Setelah dipelihara selama 4 bulan dan memenuhi ukuran konsumsi, ikan dan udang diperiksa kandungan Sb, Se, As, Hg, Mn, Cd, Fe, Cu, Pb, dan Zn. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bekas kolam pengendap tambang batubara cukup layak untuk dikembangkan sebagai areal budidaya ikan dengan memberikan pertumbuhan bobot populasi sebesar 570,79% (repang, SR: 95%), 202,57% (puyau, SR: 97%), 573% (mas, SR: 2,5%), 238,92% (udang galah, SR: 10%), 447,10% (pepuyu, SR: 14%) dan produknya cukup aman untuk dikonsumsi, dengan kandungan Sb (0,24-2,45 mg/L, rasio terdeteksi dari sample: 100%), Se (0,00-0,06, 57,14%), As (tidak terdeteksi/ttd), Hg (0,00-0,06 mg/L, 50%), Mn (ttd-1,68 mg/L, 14,29%), Cd (ttd), Fe (ttd-5,45 mg/L, 7,14%), Cu (ttd), Pb (ttd), dan Zn (7,82-61,50 mg/L, 100%).The experiment was conducted to study the feasibility of settling or sedimentation pond of coal mining to be used for culturing fish in net cage for local people post  mining activities. Experimental 3 m x 1 m x 1 m of 5 floating net cages were located in DS 2, an abandoned settling pond owned by Kalimantan Timur Prima Coal (KPC). Each cage was stocked with natural barb seed (Barbodes schwanenfeldii) with mean weight of 20.2 g, fresh water carp or puyau (Osteichilus kappenii) with mean weight of 66.1 g, and common carp (Cyprinus carpio) with mean weight of 28.96 g from fish hatchery with density of 200 seeds per species per cage, wild seed of climbing pearch (Anabas testudineus) with mean weight of 41.4 g and density of 50 seeds per cage, and giant prawn (Macrobrachium rosenbergii) with mean weight 113.8 g and density of 50 seeds per cage. The fishes were feed ad libitum. Water quality parameters were measured daily consisting of DO, pH, temperature, conductivity, and turbidity, while fish growth was determined by measuring its weight. After 4 months of rearing and reached marketable size, the fish were then measured for the evidence of Sb, Se, As, Hg, Mn, Cd, Fe, Cu, Pb, and Zn. The result shows that the settlement pond of coal mining is feasible to rear fish in cage. The recorded fish growths were 570.79% for barb fish with survival rate/SR: 95%, 202.57% for local carp with SR: 97%, 573% for common carp with SR:2.5%), 238.92% for giant prawn with SR:10%), 447.10% for climbing perch with SR:14%. All of the reared fish are safe to be consumed because they have normal content of Sb (0.24 to 2.45 mg/L, and detected ratio in all sample was: 100%), Se (0.00 to 0.06; 57.14%), As (not detected/nd), Hg (0.00 to 0.06 mg/L, 50%), Mn (nd to 1,68 mg/L, 14.29%), Cd (nd), Fe (nd-5.45 mg/L, 7.14%), Cu (nd), Pb (nd), and Zn (7.82-61.50 mg/L, 100%).

Abstract

Pearl catfish has the main advantage of fast growth. To maximize this growth, one of the things that must be considered is the feed given. The use of factory feed for catfish seeds is common, so it is necessary to use feed raw materials that are around to be used as raw materials for homemade feed. Vegetable waste such as cabbage and tofu dregs can be used as fish feed which is processed into pellets. Cabbage vegetable waste, tofu dregs, bamboo shoots and bran have protein and carbohydrates that can be used for fish growth. This study consisted of 2 stages, namely stage 1 analyzing the comparison between factory feed and homemade feed and stage 2 analyzing the difference in dosage of homemade feed on the growth and efficiency of pearl catfish (C. gariepinus) seed feed. Data were analyzed using 2 independent samples (unpaired) t-test and ANOVA test. The results showed that the provision of factory feed and homemade feed did not have a significant effect on the growth of length, weight, and feed efficiency of catfish fry. Catfish seeds can be fed homemade feed with ingredients from fermented cabbage waste, tofu dregs flour, rebon flour, bran flour, plus vitamins and minerals. The results of the analysis of variance in the treatment of different feed doses (4%, 5%, 6%, 7%, and 10% per fish body weight), had a significant effect on the growth of catfish length and weight, and had no significant effect on feed efficiency. The higher the dose given for the maintenance period of 30 days of catfish fry gave a good effect with the best dose of 10% per fish body weight

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the level of the instructor's role in the development of fish cultivator groups in Jembayan Village, Loa Kulu District. The research was conducted for 14 months starting in August 2019 and ending in September 2020. The stages of the research included preparation, data collection, analysis of results, discussion, and final thesis report. This research was conducted in Jembayan Village, Loa Kulu District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The role of the instructor consists of four indicators, namely (instructor as a leader, extension as a guide, extension as an organizer and dynamist, extension as a technical). The measurement of the four indicators of the role of extension personnel can be measured using the sampling method used is the census. Data analysis using the quantitative descriptive method with a Likert scale model. Each question item is given a score expressed in integers (1,2,3) according to the choice of the respondent. The results of this study indicate that the role of fisheries instructors in the development of the “Morisama” fish cultivator group can be seen partially and accumulatively. The role of fishery extension agents partially for extension indicators as leaders and as organizers and dynamics is in the medium class interval category. Meanwhile, the instructor's role is as a supervisor and as a technician in the high-class interval category. Accumulatively, the role of fishery extension agents is in the medium category.

Abstract

The purpose of this research were determined the influence factors of readability, the classified level of readability, the correlation of respondent characteristic, the elements of communication, and also the characteristic of innovation of readability of Pokdakan members in Sumber Sari Makmur. This research was conducted since January to February 2017 in Sumber Sari Village, Loa Kulu, Kutai Kartanegara. The sampling method was used census to 11 respondent. The data was collected by observation, questionnaire and interview also it was analyzed by likert scale for the class interval continuing by Rank Spearman correlation with IBM SPSS Statistics 20. The result was obtained the influence factors of readability are the elements of communication and characteristics of innovation. That factors had significant correlation. The significant element of communication were described in source, message, and channel. The significant characteristics of innovation were relative advantage, compability and complexity. Thus, the level of readability of Pokdakan Sumber Sari Makmur members is 81.82% as showed as high and 18.18% as showed as moderate category.

Abstract

The purpose of this research were determinan the readabality of adaption and the level of readability of try and adoption inovation of utilization of cassava flour as additional raw material of fish pellet of Pokdakan member in Sumber Sari Makmur. This research was conducted since March 2017 in Sumber Sari village Loa Kulu district Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The sampling method was used cencus to 11 respondents. The data used by primary data and secondary data, primary data was collected by survey method questionnaire and secondary data obtained from literature study. Data was analyzed by using qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results was obtained the readabality to adoption of utilization of cassava flour as additional Raw Material of Pellet Nile (Oreochromis niloticus) of Pokdakan member in Sumber Sari Makmur. It is known from 11 respondents that 9 (81,8%) of respondents as showed as high to adoption of that innovation.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the actual activities of fisherwomen at Selangan Laut that produce shrimp paste. In addition to analyzing the feasibility of their business. Further study of cleaner production options that can be applied in the processing activities to be more effective in terms of cost, time and energy and environmental friendly. Data were collected through interviews and observation techniques participate, then analyzed descriptively by tabulation and flow charts include financial analysis. Results showed financially fermented shrimp processing business conducted by the wives of the fishermen to be developed because the investment criteria NPV USD 29149.80> 0, the value of IRR 35%> 10% OCC, 1.23 times Net BCR> 1 time and Payback period of 2.98 years. In the processing of shrimp paste can still be improved efficiency and hygiene. Efforts that can be done is to make the SOP (standard operating procedure) processing shrimp paste, provides storage of raw materials and the layout of the equipment used. In terms of promotions and marketing seeks to follow events / fairs food industry, analyzing the nutritional value as well as providing content in the form of certified halal label, expiration date and composition of nutrients that are safe for consumption and widely known.
