Abstract

Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kulitatif dengan penekanan pada etnografi. Tujuannya adalah untuk melakukan eksplorasi etnosains pada masyarakat suku Malind untuk penguatan pemahaman konsep IPA siswa Sekolah Dasar di Kabupaten Merauke. Penelitian ini dilakukan di kampung-kampung masyarakat suku Malind. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu survei deskriptif dengan alat pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi, partisipasi, dokumentasi, dan literatur budaya masyarakat suku Malind. Pada penelitian ini peneliti memiliki peran sebagai human instrument (instrumen utama) yang mengamati dan mendalami secara langsung obyek yang diamati. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat 7 topik sains asli yang dapat dikaitkan dengan konsep pembelajaran IPA di SD. Berdasarkan hasil eksplorasi ini membuktikan budaya sains asli suku Malind dapat diintegrasikan dengan pembelajaran IPA di Sekolah Dasar. Penelitian ini dapat dijadikan rekomendasi bagi Dinas Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Kabupaten Merauke untuk mengembangkan kurikulum pembelajaran IPA berbasis budaya dan kearifan lokal.Exploration of Ethno-Science among the Malind Community for the Enhancement of Elementary School Students' Understanding of Science ConceptsAbstractThis research is skin research with an emphasis on ethnography. The aim was to explore ethnoscience in the Malind community to strengthen elementary school students' understanding of science concepts in the Merauke Regency. This research was conducted in the villages of the Malind tribe. The research method used was a descriptive survey with data collection tools through interviews, observation, participation, documentation, and cultural literature of the Malind tribe. In this research, the researcher is a human instrument (primary instrument) who observes and explores directly the objects observed. The results showed that seven indigenous science topics can be related to the concept of science learning in elementary school. The results of this exploration prove that the indigenous science culture of the Malind tribe can be integrated with science learning in elementary schools. This research can be used as a recommendation for the Merauke Regency Education and Culture Office to develop a science learning curriculum based on local culture and wisdom.

Abstract

The Payum coastal area possesses abundant natural resources; however, challenges such as low basic literacy, limited economic skills, and minimal environmental awareness hinder the community's progress. The Empowerment of the Payum Coastal Area through Eco-Literacy program aims to enhance community capacity through three literacy approaches: basic literacy, economic literacy, and environmental conservation literacy. The methods applied include basic literacy teaching using a fun learning approach for children and teenagers, fishball-making training as a form of economic literacy for housewives and youths, and environmental conservation activities to improve ecological awareness and appreciation of local wisdom. The results of the program showed a significant improvement in basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills for 87.18% of the basic literacy participants. About 50% of the economic literacy participants successfully produced and marketed fishballs independently. Meanwhile, the environmental conservation activities resulted in the planting of 100 mangrove seedlings and improved understanding of coastal ecosystems among 92.50% of participants. In conclusion, this program effectively provided positive impacts on improving basic literacy, economic skills, and environmental awareness among the Payum coastal community. The program's sustainability requires ongoing support, regular mentoring, and collaboration with various stakeholders to enable the community to become economically self-sufficient, educationally empowered, and environmentally conscious.

Abstract

The tendency in math learning in classrooms is for teachers to explain the material according to what is in the available textbooks without making efforts to develop learning in accordance with the contextual realities of students' daily lives. As a result, students face difficulties in solving mathematical problems when encountering issues different from the example problems provided by the instructor. This research aims to implement a problem-based social arithmetic teaching module based on the contextual approach of Papua. The subsequent application's results will be observed to determine if it has an impact on students' problem-solving abilities and financial literacy comprehension in elementary schools. The research stages include preparation, implementation, and evaluation. Data collection for this research is done through observation, interviews, and tests of students' problem-solving abilities and financial literacy comprehension. The research findings indicate that there is a partial difference in problem-solving abilities and financial literacy comprehension between students taught with the arithmetic teaching module and those taught with the conventional teaching module used in schools. It can be concluded that there is a partial influence on students' problem-solving abilities and financial literacy comprehension taught using the arithmetic teaching module and those taught using the conventional teaching module used in schools.

Abstract

Critical thinking is a stated goal in STEM teacher education but often underdeveloped in courses that emphasize procedures over reasoning. This study examined whether virtual simulation-assisted remote inquiry improves critical thinking among prospective STEM teachers in a Fourier Transform course. We conducted a randomized pretest–posttest control-group design with two intact classes at one university (experimental n = 20, control n = 20). Both groups received the same content, instructor, timing, and assessments. The intervention embedded prediction, observation, explanation, and decision steps inside an LMS using a PhET Fourier simulation. Critical thinking was measured with an eight-item essay test aligned to analysis, inference, evaluation, and decision making, scored 0–4 per item. All students completed pretest and posttest. The experimental mean rose from 10.90 (SD 2.30) to 26.60 (SD 2.10) with high normalized gain (g = 0.74), while the control mean increased from 11.20 (SD 2.10) to 15.10 (SD 2.40) with low gain (g = 0.19). Gain scores met normality, and an independent-samples t-test showed a significant between-group difference, t(38) = 10.94, p < .001. Category shifts mirrored these results, with the experimental group moving to critical and very critical at posttest. Findings indicate that simulation-supported remote inquiry can meaningfully elevate critical thinking in abstract topics and offers a feasible model for teacher preparation.

Abstract

Tujuan dari pengabdian kemitraan masyarakat ini ialah sebagai upaya pengenalan pemanfaatan media pembelajaran berbasis pemrogramman (scratch 3) yang diintegrasikan dengan konteks etnografi Papua. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan di SD Negeri Cenderawasih Spadem dengan melibatkan 27 Guru yang telah menyetujui untuk mengikuti seluruh rangkaian kegiatan hingga selesai. Tahapan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi mendesain media pembelajaran dengan bahasa pemrograman, pendampingan mendesain display and content media pembelajaran dengan scratch 3, pendampingan presentasi hasil karya guru berupa bahan media pembelajaran dengan scratch 3 dengan pendekatan etnografi Papua, pendampingan penerapan media pembelajaran berbasis berbasis etnografi Papua di kelas. Hasil survei persepsi guru dalam kegiatan pendampingan ini menunjukan, guru merespon positif pemanfaatan scratch 3 yang dilakukan dengan pendekatan etnografi Papua.

Abstract

The unavailability of innovative teaching materials that contain a numeracy literacy component is the main obstacle for SD YPPK Hati Kudus teachers in the success of the GLS program. The teaching materials that have been used so far are teaching materials that already exist, are provided by the government and are left to be used, there has been no effort to prepare and compile them yourself, even though the teacher realizes that they are not in accordance with the characteristics, social and culture of students. YPPK Hati Kudus Elementary teachers also realize that innovative teaching materials are needed and require creativity in making them appropriate to Papuan social and culture so that students become interested, active and not bored in learning. The solution offered is assistance in making innovative teaching materials based on Papuan ethnomathematics as an effort to increase students' active learning and numeracy literacy competencies. PKM consists of preparation, introduction, technical assistance, implementation. The results of the dedication show an increase in teacher understanding and skills in making innovative teaching materials based on Papuan ethnomathematics

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi kecerdasan buatan (Artificial Intelligence/AI) telah membuka peluang baru dalam peningkatan kualitas pembelajaran dan asesmen di sekolah dasar. Namun, sebagian besar guru di wilayah timur Indonesia, termasuk Kabupaten Merauke, masih menghadapi keterbatasan pemahaman dan keterampilan dalam memanfaatkan teknologi ini. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi guru melalui pelatihan pengembangan instrumen evaluasi pembelajaran dengan menggunakan Chatbot AI. Pelatihan dilaksanakan di SD Negeri 2 Merauke dan diikuti oleh 19 guru. Metode kegiatan meliputi penyampaian materi konseptual, pengenalan Chatbot AI dan etika penggunaannya, pelatihan penyusunan prompt, praktik langsung, serta pemberian tugas mandiri. Evaluasi dilakukan menggunakan angket skala Likert untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman dan kepuasan peserta. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ini memperoleh rata-rata kepuasan 4,70 dengan peningkatan signifikan pada aspek kemampuan guru menyusun soal dan rubrik penilaian berbantuan AI. Kegiatan ini juga meningkatkan motivasi dan literasi digital guru dalam mengintegrasikan teknologi ke dalam pembelajaran. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini terbukti efektif sebagai model pemberdayaan guru berbasis teknologi dan dapat direplikasi di sekolah lain untuk memperkuat transformasi digital pendidikan di daerah.
