Abstract

Sectio caesarea surgery or cesarean section is a labor procedure to remove the baby through an incision in the abdomen (laparotomy) and uterus (hysterotomy). These surgeries are increasing all over the world (ACOG, 2021). The level of this operation continues to increase as evidenced by the report from the World Health Organization or WHO which will be published in 2021. The research was conducted using the literature review method. Literature review is a systematic, explicit and reproducible method for identifying, evaluating and synthesizing works. research results and ideas that have been produced by researchers and practitioners. The results of observations during the study on post-sectio caesarea (SC) birth mothers with the ERACS method, it was found that the implementation of early mobilization after 2-4 hours after surgery, most of the respondents were able to sit, and some even dared to stand. Then, after 8-10 hours, almost all of the respondents had removed the catheter, and some of the respondents had even taken a walk. After 13 hours after surgery, all respondents, based on the discussion above, which referred to several articles and journals, showed that the Caesarean section method had significant side effects, but there were also several advantages to the ERACS method, namely being able to make it easier and more effective in giving birth.

Abstract

Bacteria can contribute to the development of diarrheal disease through direct contact with those who have the condition, consumption of food and drink contaminated with feces, or both. In addition, water, food sanitation, family latrines are the main causes of diarrheal disease. Among the causative bacteria, Escherichia coli is the most common pathogen for diarrhea in children in developing countries and an associated entero-pathogen of emerging antimicrobial resistance in developed countries. Reports of increased antibacterial resistance have become a challenge in handling diarrhea cases. Eucheuma spinosum is a species of red algae which is a marine organism that has been screened for phytochemicals and found to contain active substances such as flavonoids, triterpenoids, alkaloids, and ascorbic acid. Phenol compounds and their derivatives (flavonoids) are predicted to be compounds in E. spinosum that have the potential to inhibit E. coli bacteria by damaging the bacterial cytoplasmic wall.

Abstract

Nosocomial infections also reffered to as healthcare-asscociated infections (HAI). This infection can occur both while in the treatment room, during surgical procedurs or actions, and it can also be transmitted through medical devices that have contact with patients such as mechanical ventilators. The use of a mechanical ventilator machine is intended as a life saving measure in critical patients and is usually found in the intensive care unit (ICU) room of a hospital. Ventilator associated pneumonia is a risk that can occur when using a mechanical ventilator machine. VAP is nosocomial pneumonia in patients who have mechanically ventilated with endotracheal tube and tracheostomy for at least 48 hours. In United States, Ventilator Associated Pneumonia is one of the causes of mortality in patients with a mortality rate of 13%. In Europe, mortality rate due to early Ventilator Associated Pneumonia is 19,2% and late Ventilator Associated Pneumonia is 31,4%. Ventilator associated pneumonia is reported to have varying incidence rates ranging from 9-27%. The mortality rate from ventilator associated pneumonia can be more than 50%. This event is influenced by several risk factors, one of which is the duration of using a mechanical ventilator. The use of a mechanical ventilator, especially during the installation of an endotracheal tube (ETT) can damage the defense barrier in the airways, the installation of an ETT can also damage the mucociliary and tracheal epithelium and interfere with the cough reflex. This allows pathogens to invade the lower respiratory tract resulting in ventilator associated pneumonia.

Abstract

Anesthesia is an action in the medical field that is carried out intentionally on healthy patients and patients who have a disease from mild to severe with the aim that the patient does not feel sick when surgery is performed. This study aims to describe the knowledge of students of the Faculty of Medicine, Medical Education Study Program, University of Lampung on anesthesia and the role of anesthesiologists. This study used a descriptive cross-sectional research method on 136 samples selected through simple random sampling technique. The study used a questionnaire given via google form. The data were analyzed univariately to describe the knowledge of students of the medical faculty of the Lampung University medical education study program on anesthesia and the role of anesthesiologists. The results showed that 12 respondents (8.8%) had good knowledge, 54 respondents (39.7%) had sufficient knowledge, and 70 respondents (51.5%) had less knowledge about anesthesia and the role of anesthesiologists. . The conclusion in this study was that students of the medical faculty of the Lampung University medical education study program class of 2021 still lacked knowledge about anesthesia and the role of anesthesiologists.

Abstract

Sepsis is an organ dysfunction due to dysregulation of infection response. It is characterized by cardinal inflammatory signs such as vasodilation, leukocyte accumulation, and increased microvascular permeability in tissues away from the site of infection. Sepsis is identified using clinical criteria, specifically the Sequential (Sepsis-Related) Organ Failure Assessment Score with ≥2 points. Sepsis is a leading cause of mortality in the Intensive Care Unit. Its mortality is triggered by several risk factors, including age, low Glasgow Coma Scale and Mean Arterial Pressure scores, and the presence of comorbidities. This study aims to analyze the relationship between these determinants and mortality among the Intensive Care Unit sepsis patients. This study used an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. The subjects were sepsis patients in the Intensive Care Unit of RSUD DR. H. Abdul Moeloek Lampung in 2018-2021 who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The independent variables were age, Glasgow Coma Scale, Mean Arterial Pressure, and comorbidities, while the dependent variable was mortality. Samples were collected using total sampling technique. The results showed that age, Glasgow Coma Scale, Mean Arterial Pressure, and comorbid disease were significantly associated sepsis mortality, with p-values of 0.008, 0.029, 0.040, and 0.013, respectively. Thus, there is a relationship between age, Glasgow Coma Scale, Mean Arterial Pressure, and comorbid disease to the mortality among sepsis patients.
