Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to determine the influence of Electronic Word of Mouth (EWOM) on purchasing interest for Wardah Beauty products. This research was conducted using quantitative methods and a descriptive approach in a positive paradigm. Research participants were those who commented on the last three uploads on Amanda Rawles's Instagram (@amandarawles) in 2023 which were obtained through the use of questionnaires as a data collection technique. Data analysis uses descriptive analysis techniques and Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The methodology used is a quantitative research approach, with a sample size of 89 people. This research examines the influence of Electronic Word of Mouth (EWOM) on consumer buying interest. The results of this research show that the role of brand ambassador can strengthen the influence of EWOM in increasing interest in purchasing cosmetic products, with a special focus on Wardah Beauty products. The implications of these findings indicate that cosmetics companies can utilize EWOM more effectively in increasing purchasing interest, especially through social media platforms. Abstrak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Electronic Word of Mouth (EWOM) terhadap minat beli produk Wardah Beauty. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif dan pendekatan deskriptif dalam paradigma positivistik. Partisipan penelitian adalah yang berkomentar pada tiga unggahan terakhir di Instagram Amanda Rawles (@amandarawles) pada tahun 2023 yang diperoleh melalui penggunaan kuisioner sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Analisis data menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif serta Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). Metodologi yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan penelitian kuantitatif, dengan jumlah sampel 89 orang. Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh Electronic Word of Mouth (EWOM) terhadap minat beli konsumen. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa peran brand ambassador dapat memperkuat pengaruh EWOM dalam meningkatkan minat beli produk kosmetik, dengan fokus khusus pada produk Wardah Beauty. Implikasi dari temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa perusahaan kosmetik dapat memanfaatkan EWOM secara lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan minat beli, khususnya melalui platform media sosial.

Abstract

Abstract. The genre of comic journalism has not been widely used in Indonesia. The combination of journalism and comics is a breath of fresh air for various forms of journalistic products in Indonesia. An alternative media called Jurnaliskomik has succeeded in combining journalistic activities with comics and breaking the stigma of comics in society which has been considered fictitious and imaginative. In its products, Jurnaliskomik applies news values and tries to make boundaries between the objectivity of a journalist and the imagination of a comic artist. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method. In this case, researchers tried to find information about news values in comic journalists, which in this case was carried out on Instagram @jurnaliskomik. The results of this study found that in the production process, Jurnaliskomik still carries out journalistic activities and Jurnaliskomik has implemented news values in each of its products. There are three news values that stand out from Jurnaliskomik products, including timeliness, prominence, and proximity. As an alternative media, Jurnaliskomik will always produce news from its idealistic point of view. Abstrak. Genre jurnalisme komik belum banyak digunakan di Indonesia. Penggabungan antara jurnalistik dan komik menjadi angin segar bagi ragam bentuk produk jurnalistik di Indonesia. Sebuah media alternatif bernama Jurnaliskomik berhasil menggabungkan kegiatan jurnalistik dengan komik dan mematahkan stigma komik di masyarakat yang selama ini dinilai fiktif juga imajinatif. Pada produknya Jurnaliskomik menerapkan nilai-nilai berita dan mencoba membuat batasan antara objektivitas seorang jurnalis dengan imajinasi seorang komikus. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Dalam hal ini peneliti berusaha mencari informasi mengenai nilai-nilai berita dalam jurnalis komik yang pada kasus ini dilakukan pada Instagram @jurnaliskomik. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa dalam proses produksinya, Jurnaliskomik tetap melakukan kegiatan jurnalistik dan Jurnaliskomik telah menerapkan nilai-nilai berita dalam setiap produknya. Terdapat tiga nilai berita yang menonjol dari produk Jurnaliskomik, di antaranya timeliness (masa), prominence (terkenal), dan proximity (jarak). Sebagai media alternatif, Jurnaliskomik akan selalu memproduksi berita dari sudut pandang idealisnya.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the effectiveness of digital literacy programmes for women to raise awareness and combat hoaxes. The object of the research is the women's recitation community who are members of the Aisyiyah organisation. The importance of digital literacy in today's digital era and the need for continued investment in programmes to help women become more digitally literate. Using a quasi-experimental design, this study used pre-test and post-test data to measure awareness and combat hoaxes. Data was collected from primary and secondary sources, including surveys and literature reviews. The results showed an improvement in literacy and this reflected the participants' understanding and application of digital literacy skills, including social media, blogs, videos, images and editing tools. A comparison between the pre and post-test results and the change in error rates can give an idea of the increase or decrease in digital literacy skills after the programme.

Abstract

Abstrak. Sebagai sebuah refleksi dari dunia nyata, film sebagai media komunikasi memiliki potensi untuk menampilkan cerita-cerita yang dekat dengan kehidupan kita, salah satunya ialah film-film yang menceritakan isu gender. Dalam realitas sosial, isu gender selalu menjadi isu yang tidak akan pernah habis dalam pembahasannya, pembagian peran antara laki-laki dan perempuan, bias gender, dan juga konteks patriarki dan feminism yang ada selalu menjadi perbincangan hangat di tengah masyarakat. Film “Yuni” (2021) karya Kamila Andini menjadi salah satu film yang membahas isu gender dan realitasnya di tengah masyarakat Banten yang lekat dengan kebudayaan dan adat istiadatnya. Penelitian ini mengkaji bagaimana representasi peran perempuan ditinjau dari posisi subjek, objek, dan penonton yang digunakan dengan pendekatan Analisis Wacana Kritis Sara Mills. Penelitian ini juga mengkaji penggambaran bias gender dalam film ini. Data dianalisis secara kualitatif dengan metode Analisis Wacana Kritis Sara Mills melalui hasil observasi, dokumentasi dan wawancara kepada ahli terkait sebagai data pendukung. Hasil temuan penelitian ini adalah ditemukannya representasi peran perempuan dalam film ini yang memposisikan perempuan berada pada peran ganda, yakni pada peran domestik dan juga peran publik. Pun terjadinya bias gender pada film ini yang didominasi oleh penggambaran peran perempuan dan keberpihakan perempuan dibanding laki-laki. Abstract. As a reflection of the real world, film as communication medium has the potential to show stories that are close to our lives, is viewed from the position of subject, object and audience using Sara Mills' Critical Discourse Analysis approach. This research also examines the depiction of gender bias in this film. The data was analyzed qualitatively using the Sara Mills Critical Discourse Analysis method through observations, documentation and interviews with related experts as supporting data. The results of the findings of this research are the representation of women's roles in this film which positions women in dual roles, namely in domestic roles and also public roles. There is also gender bias in this film which is dominated by the depiction of women's roles and the bias towards women over men.

Abstract

Background: West Java Province is advancing towards digital governance with the West Java Digital Service. In 2023, it received the Indonesian Regional Government Appreciation Award for Integrated Digital Transformation from B-Universe. The revamped jabarprov.go.id portal provides an integrated one-stop public service platform, enhancing public access to information and services. Integration across regional, district, and city agencies has simplified portal management. The government’s approach to digital transformation includes adopting an electronic-based government system (SPBE) as part of its public communication strategy. This study explores the effectiveness of digital transformation via SPBE for communication advancement by the West Java Regional Government. It assesses its impact on public accessibility and service efficiency. Methods: This study uses a case study method and Focus Group Discussions with E-government managers in 28 cities/regencies in West Java. Results: The study reveals that public communication encompasses services for society, businesses, government, and ASN. Interaction processes involve infrastructure development, information provision, two-way interaction, and managing feedback. Information transactions include a complaint platform, guidelines, complaint submission, verification, handling, confirmation, resolution, and evaluation. Collaborations span government, society, the private sector, NGOs, academia, and international partners. Public communication optimation improves satisfaction, efficiency, transparency, accountability, and participation. Conclusion: Digital transformation through SPBE enhances efficiency, transparency, and public involvement, with government public relations crucial for supporting and optimizing SPBE performance. Implication: The research implies that the government should enhance information models for broader accessibility, which covers those with physical or digital limitations, and facilitate two-way interactions through digital platforms, AI, and Chatbots. Besides, education and socialization regarding SPBE services are fundamental.

Abstract

Abstrak. Dunia telah konkret oleh gaya hidup hustle culture, di mana masyarakat percaya bahwa kerja keras adalah satu-satunya cara untuk meraih kesuksesan. Slow Living hadir sebagai respons terhadap gaya hidup yang terburu-buru dan konsumerisme yang berlebihan. Generasi Z menghadapi masalah komunikasi yang sulit fokus akibat kesibukan di dunia digital, di mana komunikasi online sering kali mencerminkan ketidakjujuran, menyebabkan konflik. Gaya hidup instan dan kebiasaan monoton membuat mereka hidup seperti dalam "autopilot," berfungsi secara otomatis tanpa refleksi mendalam. Akibatnya, interaksi menjadi kurang bermakna dan autentik. Gaya hidup merupakan aspek dominan yang dipengaruhi oleh perkembangan teknologi. Di sisi lain, banyak daerah di Indonesia menyediakan tempat perlindungan dari kesibukan urban, menawarkan kesempatan bagi penduduknya untuk hidup dengan ritme yang lebih lambat dan lebih dekat dengan alam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui aktivitas budaya Slow Living di kalangan Generasi Z dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif dan pendekatan etnografi komunikasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya situasi komunikatif, peristiwa komunikatif, dan tindak komunikatif dalam aktivitas budaya Slow Living di kalangan Generasi Z, bagaimana generasi muda ini mencari makna dan autentisitas dalam interaksi mereka di tengah tekanan teknologi dan budaya kerja keras. Slow Living dapat menjadi alternatif yang bermakna bagi Generasi Z yang berusaha melawan tekanan dari hustle culture dan dunia digital yang serba cepat. Abstract. The world has been concretely influenced by the hustle culture lifestyle, where society believes that hard work is the only way to achieve success. Slow Living has emerged as a response to the fast-paced lifestyle and excessive consumerism. Generation Z faces communication issues, struggling to focus due to the busyness of the digital world, where online communication often reflects dishonesty, leading to conflicts. The instant lifestyle and monotonous habits make them live on "autopilot," functioning automatically without deep reflection. As a result, interactions become less meaningful and authentic. Lifestyle is a dominant aspect influenced by technological advancements. On the other hand, many areas in Indonesia provide refuges from urban hustle, offering residents the opportunity to live at a slower pace and closer to nature. This research aims to explore Slow Living cultural activities among Generation Z using qualitative methods and ethnographic communication approaches. The findings reveal communicative situations, communicative events, and communicative acts in the Slow Living activities among Generation Z, showing how these young people seek meaning and authenticity in their interactions amidst the pressures of technology and hustle culture. Slow Living can become a meaningful alternative for Generation Z striving to counter the pressures of hustle culture and the fast-paced digital world. Therefore, the researcher believes that these problems and phenomena are considered important and interesting to research. The researcher is interested in writing this research, about how the club implements it and how the club faces challenges in implementing Cyber public relations and also why this club is open about its financial management on Instagram social media. This research uses a constructivist paradigm with qualitative research methods and a case study approach. Researchers used boundary spanning theory and Philips and Young theory to examine the findings.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is a major disaster for all sectors in Indonesia, including the media business. The media must be able to survive and continue to provide news in the midst of a pandemic. The purpose of this research is to discuss the analysis of strengths and weaknesses, to know planning patterns in reporting online media, to know and to analyze the steps for organizing online media planning and to know and to analyze why reporting strategies must be carried out during a pandemic. In this study used a qualitative method with a case study approach. The data collection technique is through in-depth interviews, observation and document tracing. This research resulted in strengths and weaknesses in news management during a pandemic, namely easy-to-access online media, increased readers on the jabar.tribunnews.com website, and has loyal readers. The downside is that access requires a smartphone and internet network, there is a decrease in revenue due to reduced advertisers and the reporting process uses applicable regulations (Health Protocol). There are four stages of the Management Process, namely Planning, Organizing, Actuating and Controlling in the reporting process. The reporting process consists of five processes, namely news planning, news search, news writing, news editing, and news publishing. The background of the change in management strategy is that there are internal factors, namely communication and employees and also external factors, namely decreased income, the economy and also government regulations.

Abstract

In the context of disaster communication in the digital era, synergy and cooperation between stakeholders in forming a disaster management information management system is carried out using digital communication integrated with the "Jabar Command Center" (JCC). However, the form of digital communication in the JCC is diverse because it covers all information about West Java. Therefore, this study aims to examine digital communication related to disaster information using the concept of integrated approach digital communication. The research method is a case study with data collection techniques through interviews and focus group discussions. The results showed that the form of digital communication in responding to disaster information in West Java was carried out by creating "Data Ecosystem Jabar," interactive public services through the website and the "SAPAWARGA" application. The communication pattern that occurred in the case of the Cianjur Earthquake is the complaint communication pattern through the Cianjur Earthquake Data Coordination Information Center (PISO DAPUR).

Abstract

Abstract. Parent-child communication plays a significant role in shaping self-esteem, especially for individual in the emerging adulthood phase. This study aims to examine the relationship between family communication—particularly communication between parents and children—with self-esteem in at the early adulthood stage. This research employs a correlational approach using a quantitative method. The population consists of undergraduate students from the Communication Science Study Program at Universitas Islam Bandung, aged between 18 to 25 years. A total sample of 92 respondents. Data collection was carried out of questionnaires using a Likert scale, followed by data analysis through correlational techniques. The Spearman Rank correlation test was conducted using the SPSS 26.00 software. The correlation analysis revealed a very strong relationship between parent-child communication and self-esteem in early adulthood, indicated by a correlation coefficient of 0.831. This study reinforces the importance of family communication as a key factor in the development of self-confidence and self-image during early adulthood. Abstrak. Komunikasi orang tua dan anak memberikan peran penting dalam membangun self-esteem, terutama untuk individu yang sedang dalam fase dewasa awal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya hubungan antara komunikasi keluarga, khususnya komunikasi antara orang tua dan anak, dengan self-esteem pada usia dewasa awal. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan korelasional dengan metode kuantitatif . Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa S1 Program Studi Ilmu Komunikasi di Universitas Islam Bandung yang berada direntang usia 18-25 tahun dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 92 responden. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan kuesioner berskala likert yang selanjutnya dilakukan analisis data melalui teknis analisis data korelasional. Maka dilakukan uji korelasi Rank Spearman dengan menggunakan program SPSS 26.00. Hasil analisis korelasi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang sangat kuat antara komunikasi orang tua dan anak dengan tingkat self-esteem pada individu dewasa awal, yang ditunjukkan oleh nilai koefisien korelasi sebesar 0,831. Penelitian ini mempertegas pentingnya komunikasi keluarga sebagai faktor utama dalam pembentukan kepercayaan diri dan citra diri individu pada tahap perkembangan dewasa awal.

Abstract

Instagram has become a social media with many users. Previous research has shown that Instagram content is often associated with learning media, promotion, entertainment, and politics. The purpose of this study is to see the relationship between Instagram content and people's digital literacy skills. Using the correlational method, the survey respondents were followers of the @jabarsaberhoaks Instagram account, which reached 59.5 thousand. The results showed two main content elements of @jabarsaberhoaks visual aspects of photos and videos, as well as textual elements that accompanied the visuals. While the themes raised consist of seven themes, namely saberinfo, saberliteration, saberbudaya, saberquote, sabertainment, saberquiz, and sabermoment.  The conclusion of this study is that hoax educational content on Instagram @jabarsaberhoaks has an impact on people's digital literacy levels.
