Abstract

Polygamy always creating conflicts, not only from non Islamic, but also inside Islamic people as well. Although polygamy is allowed by Islam, cultural barrier and negative perceptions spread among people made polygamy was practiced under hidden circumstance. This phenomenon created controversies, and an analysis based on dramaturgy theory of Goffmann would be best to examine the practice. The research found that management impression occurred both in back stage as well as in front stage. The actor is the husband who tried to improve his image by showing off his loyalty toward his first wife. Front stage and back stage are mixed, and in order to trace the genuine message, one must focus on nonverbal message implied in communication process among the pair(s).

Abstract

Kekerasan dalam rumah tangga (KDRT) merupakan persoalan yang pelik. Kekerasan dalam Rumah Tangga (KDRT) di Jawa Barat dari tahun ke tahun terus meningkat kasusnya.  Kekerasan dalam rumah tangga bisa menimpa siapa saja, tidak mengenal batasan usia, pendidikan, status soaial, ataupun profesi. KDRT dapat terjadi pada keluarga yang kaya, berpendidikan, status soaial tinggi, juga profesi yang terpandang di masyarakat. Hal ini tentunya sangat menghawatirkan, oleh karena itu Berbagai upaya dilakukan oleh pemerintah provinsi Jawa Barat untuk mencegah terjadinya KDRT. Sosialisasi Undang-Undang No:23 tahun 2004 mengenai pencegahan KDRT di Jawa Barat menjadi salah satu upaya yang dilakukan. Penelitian dilakukan secara kualitatif dengan studi kasus. Data penelitian diambil melalui wawancara mendalam dengan pengurus P2TP2A Jawa Barat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sosialisasi dilakukan dengan berbagai cara baik itu komunikasi antarpribadi, kelompok dan massa. Lembaga yang melakukan sosialisasi tidak tergantung hanya pada satu lembaga, namun bernagai lembaga  ternyata melakukan sosialisasi dan upaya pencegahan dalam rangka mengurangi angka KDRT

Abstract

This research was intended to describe the effect ofsinetron "Karmila" exposure on the viewer sabout woman double role. The research was conducted in Bandung, used survey method. and the sample was J20 housewives in Bandung. The result showed that: (1) the content ofmesesage in "Karmila" influenced directly on the viewer attitude about woman doubel role; (2) the presentation ofmesesage in "Karmila" influenced directly on the viewer s attitude about woman doubel role; (3) the content ofmesesage and the presentation of mesesage in "Karmila" influenced directly on the viewer sattitude about woman doubel role.

Abstract

It is always interesting to discuss youth lifestyle. As part of pop culture, youth lifestyle has some features, i.e. standardized culture, having fixed repetitive format, light enjoyable, sentimental, short-lasting, and artificially crafted. Such characteristics are in opposite with other cultural values such as serious, intellectuality, time-respect, and authenticity. In the world of Moslem girl, there is also a strong tendency of being modern and sociable. Mass media and globalization are believed to be the most influential factors. In order to solve the problem, original Islamic learning process such as “madrasah” and “pesantren” are strongly promoted.

Abstract

This paper is concerned with the dissemination of Healthy Lifestyle information.Healthy Lifestyle which applying food combining approach recently is hailed as a breakthrough in health communication. Meanwhile, the dissemination process consists of message characteristic, communication channel, and range of time period. The innovation on message characteristic involves factors such as relative benefit, compatibility, and complexity. Relative innovation is generated from economy aspect: by applying healthy lifestyle information, it is strongly hoped that human body will become healthy, full of energy, and free from disease. On the other hand, there is difficulty on compatibility factors, due to society’s eating pattern which referred on four-healthy pattern for every meal, not for a whole day. The spread of information need a deep toward lifestyle—add complexity for the matter. The communication channels to widespread this information to the public utilize a combination of interpersonal communication (for consultation), group communication (public speech), and mass communication (print media). Time is also a crucial factor in planning information dissemination.

Abstract

Indonesian society is currently experiencing a wave of Korean culture (Hallyu) which has also hit various countries. The wave of Korean culture began from a decade ago and has been more intense until now. Korean cultures that are loved by many Indonesian are Korean drama, K-Pop and reality shows that feature Korean artists. Therefore, many business men to take advantage of this situation by utilizing the three types of Korean entertainment to market their products. One of the products is mobile phone namely Samsung and LG. This research seeks information about the relationship between knowledge about Hallyu with Samsung or LG cellphones purchasing decisions that is made by Korean culture fans. This research implements  quantitative method with a total of 40 respondents. The results showed that the knowledge of Korean culture through drama and variety shows "Running Man" contributed substantially to respondents in deciding to buy Korean Samsung and LG mobile phones. On the contrary, knowledge about K-Pop music did not contribute much to respondents in deciding to buy Korean Samsung and LG mobile phones.

Abstract

Setiap peristiwa komunikasi sebenarnya memiliki potensi sebagai komunikasi antarbudaya karena para peserta yang terlibat di dalamnya memiliki perbedaan kultur sekecil apa pun. Apalagi dalam momentum Ibadah Haji, berbagai ras, bangsa. suku bangsa berbaur dalam ruang dan waktu yang sama. Berbagai perbedaan kultur di kalangan jemaah haji sering menimbulkan kesalahpahaman yang dapat berakibat fatal. Untuk mengeliminasi kesalahpahaman tersebut, yang perlu dilakukan oleh jemaah haji adalah menyadari akan keunikan budaya setiap orang, bangsa, suku bangsa, tidak terjebak etnosentrisme, serta berupaya mengembangkan empati.

Abstract

As pointed out by Dedy Mulyana, a scholar of communication science in Indonesia, communication act is definitely time-bounded. It was expressed in terms su:ch as “wasting time”, “saving time”, or verbatim such as “time is money”, “al-Waktu ka al-syaif”, etc. To explain more about time, Edward T. Hall uses Mandala model which describe time in terms of: biological time, personal time, physical time, metaphysical time, micro time, sync time, sacred time, profane time, and meta-time. There are two concepts of time, e.g. monochromic time and polychromic time. As consequences, communication message must be time-sensitive and designed specifically for communication receiver. This article explores time concept of children, and Islamic concept for Islam, which is uniquely defined and different with other time-concept.

Abstract

Information technology nowadays results in spreading information rapidly. Everyone can easily produce information quickly through several social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or mobile phone messages, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, etc. It is alarming if the information conveyed is inaccurate such as a hoax with a highly provocative title, leading the reader and recipient to obtain a negative opinion. For fighting hoaxes and preventing their negative impacts, the government has adequate legal protection named ITE Law. Apart from the legal product, the government also forms the National Cyber Institution. For example, in West Java, the government has formed West Java Clean Sweep Team (Saber) for Hoaxes, in charge of verifying information distribution in public. The team is built as proactive efforts of the West Java Provincial Government to secure the residents of West Java from disseminating fake news. This article examines how the West Java Saber Hoaxes Team carried out a strategy to minimize the dissemination of fake news (hoaxes) on social media. The research used descriptive studies through in-depth interviews on West Java Saber Hoaxes Team. The result of the research showed that strategies conducted by this team are monitoring, receiving complaints, and educating the public.

Abstract

The massive spread of information about COVID-19 hoaxes since 2020 is a problem that any country, including Indonesia, must face. In anticipation of this, the West Java government conducted a fact-checking process using multiplatform Instagram @jabarsaberhoaks. This study aims to identify the fact-checking process that has been carried out by @jabarsaberhoaks accounts using the content analysis method of identifying 334 posts about COVID-19 hoaxes during 2020. The results showed that @jabarsaberhoaks conducted the fact-check by finding data from various hoax themes by checking official sources such as media, authorized agencies, and expert sources nationally and internationally. A note of correction of the clarification results from COVID-19 was published on Instagram. This research finding necessitates stakeholders intensify their campaigns and educate the community on COVID-19 information literacy to understand and respond to the COVID-19 phenomenon adequately.
