Abstract

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah ada perbedaan skor rata-rata dalam pemberian tugas writing deskriptif teks antara siswa yang bekerja secara individu, berpasangan, dan yang kerja secara grup atau kelompok pada siswa Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) Kelas VIII. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas 8 SMP Negeri 3 Lamongan yang terbagi menjadi tiga kelompok. Kelompok pertama sebagai kontrol grup (individu), kelompok kedua dan ketiga sebagai eksperimen grup (berpasangan dan kerja kelompok). Perlakuan dari penelitian ini adalah sepanjang delapan kali pertemuan. Semua kelompok diberi perlakuan yang sama. Secara rinci, masing-masing kelompok diberi strategi yang sama. Mereka diajar oleh guru yang sama, materi yang sama dan alokasi waktu yang sama. Setelah mendapat perlakuan sebanyak 8 kali pertemuan, semua kelompok kemudian diberi posttest berupa menulis teks deskriptif. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan ANOVA satu arah (One way ANOVA) dan Post Hoc Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan dalam skor rata-rata antara siswa yang mengerjakan tugas secara individu dan kerja kelompok, begitu juga antara siswa yang mengerjakan tugas secara berpasangan dan kerja kelompok.Keyword: Menulis, Kerja Kelompok

Abstract

Abstrak.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan 1) pemanfaatan cerita seputar Sungai Bengawan Solo sebagai bahan menulis cerita fantasi, 2) kendala yang dihadapi siswa dalam menulis cerita fantasi, dan 3) solusi mengatasi masalah menulis cerita fantasi dengan memanfaatkan cerita seputar Sungai Bengawan Solo. Rancangan penelitian menggunakan kualitatif deskriptif dengan mendeskripsikan data-data yang ditemukan. Berdasarkan data yang telah ditemukan serta analisi data, maka diperoleh beberapa hasil, yaitu; cerita yang ada di Seputar Sungai Bengawan Solo dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber belajar menulis cerita fantasi. Cerita tersebut seperti cerita Buaya Putih dan Ande-Ande Lumut. Menulis cerita fantasi dengan memanfaatkan cerita rakyat dapat dilakukan dengan beberapa langkah, seperti analisi inti cerita, mengembangkan inti cerita, menentukan tema inti cerita, membuat poin alur, dan mengembangkan alur. Namun, dalam menulis cerita fantasi ada beberapa kendala yang dihadapi, yaitu kesulitan mengkonversikan teks dan pemahaman terhadap teks fantasi yang kurang. Untuk mengatasi kendala tersebut, dapat dilakukan dengan mengembangkan modul mengkonversikan cerita rakyat menjadi cerita fantasi.Kata Kunci: Cerita Rakyat, Bengawan Solo, Cerita Fantasi, Karakter Abstract. This study aims to describe 1) the use of stories about the Bengawan Solo River as material for writing fantasy stories, 2) the obstacles faced by students in writing fantasy stories, and 3) the solution to the problem of writing fantasy stories by utilizing stories around the Bengawan Solo River. The design of the study used descriptive qualitative by describing the data found. Based on data that has been found and data analysis, some results are obtained, namely; the stories on the River Bengawan Solo can be used as a source of learning to write fantasy stories. The story is like the story of White Crocodile and Ande-Ande Lumut. Writing fantasy stories by utilizing folklore can be done in several steps, such as analyzing the core story, developing the core story, determining the core theme of the story, making flow points, and developing the plot. However, in writing fantasy stories there are several obstacles faced, namely the difficulty of converting texts and understanding of fantasy texts that are lacking. To overcome these obstacles, it can be done by developing a module to convert folklore into a fantasy story.Kata Kunci: Folk Story, Bengawan Solo, Fantasy Stories, Characters

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui penerapan metode pembelajaran kooperatif Two-stay Two-stray (TS-TS) dalam usaha untuk meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa dalam mata kuliah bahasa Inggris. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dalam dua siklus. Setiap siklus terdiri dari empat tahapan yaitu: perencanaan, pelaksanaan, pengamatan, dan refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa Kursus Intensif Bahasa Inggris dari Jururan Hukum Ekonomi Syari’ah INKAFA Gresik. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada peningkatan baik dalam aspek motivasi, pemahaman pada materi, dan juga pada prestasi siswa. Hal ini bisa dilihat dari permasalahan siswa baik dari aspek motivasi maupun pemahaman pada materi telah teratasi pada siklus ke-2. Sedangkan nilai rata-rata siswa telah mencapai 77.47 pada siklus ke-2. Peningkatan juga bisa dilihat dari nilai minimum siswa yaitu 70 yang berarti bahwa seluruh siswa sudah mencapai standar kelulusan (SKL). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian bisa disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode TS-TS adalah salah satu solusi untuk meningkatkan prestasi siswa dan memecahkan masalah siswa dalam belajar bahasa inggris

Abstract

This research aimed to know the use of modified domino card game as media to increase students understanding of the application of possessive adjective. The method of this research was classroom action research design proposed by Ferrance. The subjects were students of junior high school at MTs. Bahrul Ulum Turi Lamongan consisted of 28 students. The result showed that media domino card could stimulate students to be active and pay more attention. It effectively affected students’ achievement. The data showed that students’ achievement increase significantly from 57.86 in preliminary test to 76.57 in final test. Thus, it could be concluded that modified domino card could increase students understanding of the use of possessive adjective. It could also stimulate young students to be active and pay more attention to the lesson given

Abstract

This classroom action research was conducted at SMP Diniyah Al-Falahiyah Turi Lamongan for three months. This study aims to increase students' understanding of learning tenses using cooperative learning type Number Head Together (NHT) with question card media. The participants of this research were eighth grades students with a total of 20 students. The results of this study indicated that the implementation of Number Head Together (NHT) could increase students' understanding in learning tenses. The data obtained indicated that the set of learning targets have been achieved. Beginning from preliminary test, the students passed grades are 30%. Farther in cycle 1, the result increase to 55%. While in cycle 2, it could be said that the research target has been exceeded although there were still 15% students did not pass grades. Finally, in final test, it could be said that almost all the students passed grades with the percentage of 80%. Nevertheless, this research's target has been exceeded that 80% of students pass with an average value <70 with a minimum passing criterion of 67

Abstract

This research aimed to explore the effectiveness of using digital storytelling for young learners’ vocabulary mastery. Digital storytelling is the combination of spoken narrative, a number of digital picture, soundtrack, and technology to share stories. The subject of the research was 23 young learners in fifth grade at MI Mathlaul Ulum Ngadirejo. This research was a quantitative descriptive research in form of one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental research design. The research instruments were pre-test and post-test evaluations. The findings of the research presented the significant improvement of young learners’ mean score of pre-test and post-test. The mean score of post-test (72,9) was higher than the mean score of pre-test (52,3). From the result, it proved that there was a significant effect of the implementation digital storytelling on young learners’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

This study aims to test the role of peer tutoring on students' writing skills, especially in writing recount text. This study used experimental research design. The subjects of this study were second grade students of SMPN 1 Turi Lamongan, East Java, for the 2020/2021 academic year. The subjects in this study were 50 students taken from class VIII A and VIII B, which were then grouped into experimental and control groups respectively. The data of this study were taken from student test scores which were held at the end of the study and were analyzed using Independent T-test analysis. The results of data analysis showed that there was a significant effect on the implementing of peer tutoring on students’ writing skills. These results were obtained from the mean score of students’ tests from each group. The control group got an average score of 69.40, while the experimental group got an average score of 76.20.

Abstract

This study was aimed to know the method used in Teaching Public Speaking at Kind English Course Pare-Kediri. The method used in this case was descriptive qualitative research. It means that the data gotten were described qualitatively. The researcher conducted the research in public speaking class at Kind English Course. The researcher used purposive sampling and took Public Speaking class as the participants because this class is the most wanted class. This is the only class in Kind English Course that holds the placement test in accepting the students. The class is always full in every period, and so many people say that Public Speaking class is one of the recommended classes. The researcher got the result from the observation, interview, and documentation as well as interview with the teacher that teaching learning process in the class is run well. In the teaching learning process, the teacher prepared the material well and explained the material using various methods. Subsequently, the evaluation was done every day after students performed their speech. Furthermore, the way the teacher teaches, the method used, the material and the environment become a complete package that Kind English Course offers to develop the student speaking ability.

Abstract

Speaking was crucial skill to be learnt by student in order to talk with others from around the world. Students would need to rehearse to be able to express their ideas in English. The students’ Speaking skill was developed in the classroom when they have English class though in daily activities, they did not speak English. It made speaking as one of the most challenging things for students to grasp. The use of a good teaching method or media was really important in the teaching speaking process. The snake and ladder game was used as a medium by the researcher. This research was using experimental research with pre-experimental design (one group pretest-posttest). The data itself was analysed by using statistical through SPSS program. The participants of the research were the eleventh grades students of MA Falahiyah Lamongan. The data showed the students’ basic speaking skill of eleventh grades students in MA Falahiyah Lamongan were poor, because most of the students score were under the minimum score criteria. There were only 13% students passed the test. After getting the treatment,  the result of the finding of post-test, the data showed the students’ speaking skill were improved because most of the students got enough score to complete the test. The result of the calcutaion of paired sample t-test with the sign (2 tailed) the result was .000, it was lower than 0.05 as level of significant. It means that the use of game-based learning through the snake and ladder game to teach speaking gave significant effect on students’ speaking skills.

Abstract

Communication strategy is a mutual attempt in the communication between two interlocutors to make a deal on an importance communication. We realize that both speaker and the listener are included; the responsibility of both speaker and listener is successful communication. This study aims to identify the types of communication strategies used by eighth grade students of Billfath English students. And this research tried to find out the most dominant communication strategies used by English language education students at Billfath University. The researcher used communication strategies from Tarone’s taxonomy to cultivate the data. This research is a qualitative descriptive. The researcher took 10 students as sample. The techniques used by the researcher to collect data are observation, interviews, and documentation analysis. The data was analyzed with communication strategy from Tarone’s taxonomy. The results of this study indicate that there are 5 types of communication strategies used by English students in order to deal with their difficulties in speaking. The researcher found 75 data of communication strategies used by the English students. The students used topic avoidance 8 data (10,6%),the use of paraphrase 6(8%),native language switching 19 data (25,3%), miming 29 data (38,8%) appeal for assistance 13 data (17,3%). And in this research, the English students did not use coinage and message abandonment. The most dominant strategy used by students is Miming 29 data (38.8%). Communication strategies were used by English students because they tried to overcome communication barriers when they were speaking.
