Abstract

Background: Sectio Caesarea (SC) is a surgical procedure to save a mother and baby. Most SC preoperative patients experience mild and severe anxiety; this anxiety will affect the patient's recovery process. Anxious conditions cause vasoconstriction of blood vessels, so that blood supply to the heart decreases. One of the other factors causing anxiety in preoperative patients is family support. Families who always support the patient's recovery will be able to reduce patient anxiety. Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between family support and the pre-anesthesia anxiety level of sectio-caesarea patients at Bendan Pekalongan Hospital. Methods: Using quantitative observational and analytic research methods with a cross-sectional approach. The place of research was in the reception room of IBS Bendan Pekalongan Hospital. sample 36 patients with consecutive sampling techniques. Data analysis in the form of bivariate data produces the frequency distribution and percentage of each variable. Results: The results of the correlation coefficient of -493** indicate that there is a fairly strong and significant correlation with a negative or unidirectional direction, meaning that the greater the level of family support, the lower the patient's anxiety level. Conclusion: The results of the spearman rank test analysis of 36 respondents showed a p value of 0.001, <0.05, which means that there is a relationship between family support and the level of pre-anesthesia anxiety of Sectio Caesarea patients at Bendan Pekalongan Regional General Hospital. Keywords: Family support, anxiety level, and pre-anesthesia of Sectio Caesarea patient

Abstract

Prolonged recovery time is one of the undesirable complications in anesthesia procedures so it is necessary to prevent delayed recovery of consciousness from occurring in patients. Volatile sevoflurane is considered as one of the main options because of its safety profile and the speed of recovery of post-anesthesia patients. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between volatile sevoflurane and time to recover consciousness in patients after general anesthesia at Kardinah Hospital, Tegal City. This research method is descriptive correlation with cross sectional design. The sampling of this study was consecutive sampling consisting of 128 people. Data collection techniques intra and post anesthesia with general anesthesia using a questionnaire. This research was conducted on June 1-20, 2024. The measuring instruments of this study were observation sheets and Spearman analysis. The results of this study indicate that most of the time recovering consciousness 25 minutes in patients after general anesthesia with 2%-2,5% volatile sevoflurane, namely 36 (28.1%) respondents while a small part of the time recovering consciousness 45 minutes with volatile sevoflurane 2%-2.5%, namely 1 (0.8%) respondent. From statistical tests with Spearman analysis with a p value of 0.028 (p < 0.05) with a contingency coefficient of 0.105. It was concluded that there was a relationship between volatile sevoflurane and time to recover consciousness in patients after general anesthesia at Kardinah Hospital, Tegal City.

Abstract

Conscious recovery time is the time it takes for the patient to be removed from the conscious recovery room when the patient is fully conscious. Patients who are unconscious within more than 15 minutes are considered prolonged, even to respond to a stimulus in highly susceptible patients requires 30-45 minutes after general anesthesia drugs are stopped. One of the causes of lengthening the time to recover consciousness is the Body Mass Index (BMI) in patients which can increase the potential of anesthetic drugs given. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and conscious recovery time in general anesthesia patients using Endotracheal Tube (ET) at RSUD Dr. Soedirman Kebumen. The method of ths study was correlation analitik with a cross-sectional approach. The sample of this study amounted to 48 respondents with consecutive sampling technique. Data analysis was carried out using the Kendall Tau test. The results of the study obtained 86.5% of respondents had a fast conscious recovery time (<15 minutes) and 13.5% of respondents had a prolonged conscious recovery time (>15 minutes). Of the results of the kendall tau correlation test obtained results with a significancy p value of 0.000 < 0.05 which means there is a relationship between the body's mass index to the recovery time of consciousness after general anesthesia with the endotracheal tube. The conclusion of this study is that majority of respondents who have a quick recovery time of less tha 15 minutes are respindents with a normal body mass index. Patient with a fat or obese BMI will receive a higher dose of anesthetic medication compared to patients in the thin category. When the anesthetic drug is given a higher concentration, the effect of the ansthetic drug will be longer.

Abstract

Background: The Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA) is a widely utilized supraglottic airway device by anesthesiologists in selective procedures, particularly in cases where intubation is not feasible or when managing a difficult airway. Complicating factors such as a short neck and large tongue can hinder LMA insertion, necessitating the use of the Triple Airway Maneuver (TAM). This technique involves a combination of head elevation, anterior mandible lift, and mouth opening to facilitate airway clearance. Purpose: This study was to evaluate the relationship between the TAM technique and the success rate of LMA insertion during elective surgeries at Dr. Soedirman Kebumen General Hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional, analytic study was conducted in June 2024, involving 52 respondents selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected using observation sheets. Findings: The findings revealed that the majority of respondents were aged 17-25 years (38.5%) and had a body mass index of 18.5-25.0 (73.1%). Non-smokers constituted 73.1% of the sample, while 46.2% had occupations involving repetitive neck movements. The TAM group achieved 45 successful LMA insertions, with 44 succeeding on the first attempt and 1 on the second, compared to 7 successful insertions in the non-TAM group. However, Kendall’s tau c test (p=0.056) indicated no statistically significant relationship between TAM and LMA insertion success rates, and the correlation coefficient (0.385) suggested a weak relationship. Conclusions: the TAM technique does not significantly influence the success rate of LMA insertion
