Abstract

This study systematically reviews and analyzes previous studies’ literature to identify the research gaps and the steps that must be taken for research on critical thinking in further mathematics education. Two methods, namely bibliometric analysis and descriptive content analysis, were used to achieve this goal. Data for the bibliometric analysis was obtained from the Scopus database, with the keywords “critical thinking” and “mathematics” Documents accessed are limited to the publication range of 2012-2022. The results show that the number of critical thinking research in mathematics has increased significantly, with a peak in 2021 of 65 articles; the United States has the most research and citations. The source that received the most citations was the journal Educational Studies in Mathematics. The evolution of the theme of critical thinking in mathematics began to link critical thinking with collaboration learning, mathematics education, teacher education, engineering, education, and collaborative learning. The quantitative approach with a student sample, tests as data collection instruments, and the analysis of variance (ANOVA) method is the methodology most often used by researchers. The results of this study are likely helpful for other researchers who will examine critical thinking skills in mathematics, namely as a research guide that they will develop. In addition, the existence of several research gaps can motivate other researchers to fill these gaps to contribute to improving the quality of critical thinking in mathematics.

Abstract

Mathematical connection is a crucial skill for students, as it reduces the need to memorize numerous concepts and procedures independently. This study explores the variance in mathematical connection abilities among students with different intelligence types, specifically intrapersonal and interpersonal, in the context of solving algebraic problems on the AKM (Minimum Competency Assessment) test. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive methodology, this research focused on four students from class VIII-B at an Islamic Junior High School in Blitar. Data were gathered through questionnaires assessing intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence, followed by the AKM Algebra test and interviews with selected students—two from each intelligence category. The findings reveal that students with interpersonal intelligence demonstrated superior mathematical connection abilities compared to their intrapersonal counterparts. Individuals with interpersonal intelligence met all indicators of mathematical connections, whereas intrapersonal intelligence subjects varied, with some meeting only one or two. This discrepancy underscores that students of the same intelligence type can exhibit differing levels of mathematical connection abilities, influenced by various factors such as mathematical skills, development of geometric thinking, and reasoning abilities.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan tes berdasarkan kerangka kerja RECCE-MODEL untuk mengukur kemampuan kognitif mahasiswa. Subjek penelitian adalah 80 mahasiswa pendidikan matematika semester ganjil tahun akademik 2019/2020, Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang . Jenis penelitian yang diterapkan ialah Research and Development (R&D). Prosedur penelitian terbagi menjadi tiga tahapan, yaitu pengumpulan data, perencanaan tes, dan pengembangan tes. Penelitian ini menggunakan instrumen penelitian berupa lembar validasi dan tes. Hasil penelitian di antaranya menghasilkan 2 butir soal tes sesuai dengan kerangka kerja MODEL. Tes tersebut telah dilakukan uji validasi, uji reliabilitas, uji tingkat kesukaran tes, dan uji daya pembeda soal. Berdasarkan hasil validasi yang diujikan oleh validator, tes tersebut dikatakan valid karena hasil yang diperoleh adalah 75%. Nilai koefisien reliabilitas adalah 0,786 sehingga tes dapat dikatakan reliabel. Hasil analisis tingkat kesukaran dikategorikan mudah untuk keseluruhan tes. Hasil daya pembeda soal dikategorikan baik untuk keseluruhan tes. Selain itu, dengan menggunakan tes yang telah dikembangkan ini dapat mengidentifikasi kemampuan kognitif mahasiswa pada lima level MODEL. Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan tes yang dikembangkan memiliki kategori valid, reliabel, dan efektif untuk mengukur kemampuan kognitif mahasiswa.

Abstract

Panti Asuhan Perempuan ‘Aisyiyah Dau Jetis Malang adalah yayasan amal untuk merawat anak-anak perempuan yang merupakan yatim piatu dan miskin. Panti asuhan ini memiliki dua puluh empat siswa. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan dan wawancara dengan kepala panti asuhan, terdapat empat siswa yang berada di tingkat sekolah menengah pertama dan sembilan siswa yang berada di tingkat sekolah menengah atas yang akan mengikuti Ujian Nasional pada bulan April 2019. Persiapan diperlukan untuk para siswa ini menghadapi Ujian Nasional. Sehingga, kegiatan pendampingan ini berupa tutoring, dan pembuatan UN's Corner. Luaran dari kegiatan pendampingan ini adalah UN's Corner, kumpulan soal Matematika, poster kegiatan pendampingan dan analisis hasil pendampingan.

Abstract

Problem-solving is an activity that can support knowledge construction. Polya, Mason, and Schoenfeld see the problem-solving process as an activity carried out in an individual context. A person's activities cannot be separated from individual interactions. Collaborative Problem-Solving (CPS) is a situation where students must use problem-solving and communication skills in group work to solve a problem. This research examines the stages of collaborative problem-solving in case studies of geometric problem-solving. This research is a case study type with a qualitative approach. The research subjects were class X high school students. The research instruments used were collaborative plane geometry problem-solving questions and interview guidelines. The data collection method was carried out by providing collaborative problem-solving tasks and interviews. The recording was carried out during the assignment using an audio recorder to see the collaborative mathematical problem-solving phase. The research results show that problem-solving starts with discussing, conjecturing, building solutions, communicating reasoning, and extending. The problem-solving phase is cyclical at certain stages, namely discuss – conjecture – build solution – discuss. Meanwhile, critique merges the discussion, conjecture, solution-building, and communication reasoning stages. The finding of the CPS phase in this research is that it has cyclical stages. It combines the critique stages in each CPS phase and can be considered if different CPS phases are documented. Apart from that, it can be a consideration for students that the problem-solving stages in collaboration are more flexible.

Abstract

Kurikulum merdeka didesain lebih adaptif berfokus pada materi yang esensial berbasis pada pengembangan karakter dan kemampuan peserta didik. Pembelajaran berbasis proyek atau lebih dikenal sebagai project-based learning (PjBL) menjadi sistem pembelajaran utama pada kurikulum merdeka ini. Penerapan pembelajaran berbasis PjBL tentu memerlukan beberapa kesiapan terutama dari pihak guru sebagai fasilitator utama dalam pembelajaran. Perangkat pembelajaran merupakan hal utama yang perlu dipersiapkan oleh guru. Berdasarkan hasil wawancara dengan pihak sekolah, guru di SMA Negeri 2 Lumajang mengalami kesulitan dalam menyusun perangkat pembelajaran berbasis PjBL. Dengan demikian, pengabdian dilaksanakan bagi guru di SMA Negeri 2 yang belum pernah memperoleh pelatihan berkaitan dengan penyusunan instrumen pembelajaran berbasis PjBL. Kegiatan pengabdian terlaksana dengan baik dan menghasilkan luaran perangkat pembelajaran berbasis PjBL.

Abstract

Proses pemecahan masalah mahasiswa bergantung pada kemampuan kognitifnya. Kerangka kerja RECCE-MODEL merupakan salah satu inovasi kerangka kerja yang menetapkan arah dalam pembelajaran serta penilaian pengetahuan dan keterampilan berdasarkan pengembangan kognitif mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan kognitif mahasiswa menggunakan kerangka kerja RECCE-MODEL. Prosedur penelitian yang digunakan adalah 1) studi pendahuluan, 2) perencanaan, dan 3) pelaksanaan. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar keterlaksaan pembelajaran dan tes. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa pembelajaran yang dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan RECCE yaitu Realistic, Educational, Contextual, Cognitive, dan Evaluate. Enam level kemampuan kognitif mahasiswa kecuali level 0 dideskripsikan berdasarkan hasil pekerjaan mahasiswa terhadap soal tes materi translasi yang diberikan setelah pembelajaran selesai. Tidak ada mahasiswa yang berada pada level 0 (tidak ada usaha), karena semua mahasiswa mencoba menyelesaikan permasalahan yang diberikan pada soal tes. Level 1 meanings ditunjukkan oleh mahasiswa mencoba menghubungkan konsep yang ada dan memahami makna dari masalah. Level 2 organize, mahasiswa mengidentifikasi strategi dalam menyelesaikan masalah. Pada level 3 develop, mahasiswa dapat merumuskan strategi dan variable dan mengembangkan strategi penyelesaian masalah. Level 4 execute, ditunjukkan oleh mahasiswa memeriksa strategi penyelesaian masalahnya. Level 5 terakhir yaitu link, mahasiswa melakukan refleksi terhadap solusi dan memberikan penafsiran solusi yang diperoleh.

Abstract

Pada era saat ini, kemampuan literasi dan numerasi dibutuhkan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Kampuan literasi adalah kemampuan untuk dapat menerapkan konsep matematika dalam konteks kehidupan serta dapat melalukan penalaran matematis untuk menjelaskan suatu kejadian sedangkan kemampuan numerasi adalah kemampuan menganalisis dan menggunakan angka-angka (number) dan simbol matematika dalam menyelesaikan masalah praktis dalam konteks kehidupan sehari-hari. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan asesmen berorientasi kontekstual untuk meningkatkan kemampuan literasi matematis dan numerasi mahasiswa yang valid, praktis, efektif, dan reliabel. Namun, asesmen yang dikembangkan terbatas pada pengembangan tes. Penelitian ini berjenis research and development dengan melalui tiga tahapan. Ketiga tahapan tersebut yaitu tahap identifikasi dan kajian permasalahan, tahap pengembangan, dan tahap penilaian. Hasil pengembangan asesmen tes ini menunjukkan skor kevalidan yaitu 85% yang berarti sangat valid, skor pada aspek kemudahan penggunaan 78,5% dan aspek kebahasaan 97,8% yang berarti produk berkategori praktis, mahasiswa mengalami peningkatan persentase ketercapaian semua indikator literasi dan numerasi yang berarti asesmen tes ini efektif, dan skor realibilitas Alpha Cronbach  yang berarti butir asesmen tes reliabel.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the implementation of discovery learning in a matrix material. This type of research is a classroom action research study consisting of two cycles with each cycle consisting of four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 35 students in grade XI. The research instrument used was the observation sheet and test. Data analysis techniques consist of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results showed that there was an increase in student learning outcomes after learning discovery learning was applied. It was proven that in the first cycle there were 15 students (42.8%) who were complete and in the second cycle there were 29 students (82.8%) who were complete.Keywords: discovery learning, classroom action research, matrix. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v20i2.pp54-59

Abstract

This research aims to determine the significant differences in students' mathematical creative thinking abilities based on gender and sensing-intuition personality type. This research uses a comparative research method that is ex post facto. This research was conducted in class VIII of SMPN 1 Lekok in the 2023/2024 academic year. From a population of 199, a sample of 80 was selected, namely 20 male students with a sensing personality type, 20 male students with an intuition personality type, 20 female students with a sensing personality type, and 20 female students with an intuition personality type. Data collection used creative thinking ability test instruments and sensing-intuition personality type tests. Data were analyzed using independent t-test and two-way anova. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that 1) there is no significant difference in creative thinking abilities between female and male students. 2) There are differences in creative thinking abilities between students with the sensing personality type and students with the intuition personality type. 3) There is no interaction between gender and sensing-intuition personality type on students' creative thinking abilities.
