Abstract

This study investigates the kinetics of copper extraction from enargite ore (Cu₃AsS₄) using sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) solution with hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) as an oxidizing agent. Leaching experiments were carried out under various operating conditions, including H₂SO₄ concentrations (1, 1.5, and 2 M), H₂O₂ concentrations (1, 1.5, and 3 M), solid percentages (5%, 10%, and 15%), and temperatures (30, 40, and 50 °C), with a leaching time of up to 480 minutes. The results indicated that higher concentrations of H₂SO₄ and H₂O₂ significantly enhanced copper extraction efficiency, while increasing solid percentage reduced the leaching performance. The optimum condition was achieved at 2 M H₂SO₄, 3 M H₂O₂, 5% solids, and 50 °C, resulting in a maximum copper extraction of 97.95%. Kinetic analysis revealed that the leaching process was predominantly controlled by diffusion through a porous product layer based on the shrinking core model, but shifted to interface reaction control at higher temperatures. These findings provide new insights into the leaching mechanism of enargite ore and serve as a foundation for developing more efficient and environmentally friendly hydrometallurgical processes for copper recovery.

Abstract

This Classroom Action Research aims to apply the Cooperative Scripting Learning Model to improve motivation and learning outcomes at SMA YP PGRI 2 Makassar. The research subjects were students of class XI IPA, totalling 35 students. The implementation of this research consisted of two cycles, each consisting of three meetings and one evaluation meeting. The learning outcomes that have been carried out have an increase in the category of student learning outcomes, in the first cycle in the medium category, namely 20 students or 57.14%, while in the second cycle, 17 people or 48.57%. The average increase in student motivation in cycle 1 was 60.57% and cycle II was 75.43%, as well as an increase in student learning mastery in cycle I, namely 24 people or 68.57% and an increase in cycle II as many as 31 people or 88, 57%. Thus, it can be concluded that the cooperative scripting biology learning model with process skills can increase the motivation and learning outcomes of class XI IPA SMA YP PGRI 2 Makassar.

Abstract

Abstract

This research is descriptive qualitative research, which aims to determine students' concept understanding of thermochemistry in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Gorontalo. The instrument used was a Three-tier multiple-choice Diagnosis Test. The research subject used was class XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Gorontalo, with a sample size of 42 students. The research data was obtained from students' answers to the Three-tier multiple-choice questions. The data was processed based on the pattern of student answers, which were then grouped into the categories of conceptual understanding, misconceptions, and not conceptual understanding. The results showed that students who understood the concept were 46.19%, misconceptions were 43.97%, and did not understand the concept by 9.84%.

Abstract

The awareness campaign on the impact of mercury use among artisanal miners in Buladu Village, East Sumalata District, North Gorontalo Regency, aimed to enhance knowledge about the dangers of mercury and introduce safer alternative mining methods. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 75 attendees, including miners, their families, and community representatives. The activities included pre-tests and post-tests, which showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge, with average scores rising from 45% to 85%. Interactive discussions and practical workshops revealed a high interest in understanding and adopting mercury-free mining methods. While some participants did not fully grasp the material, the majority rated the relevance of the information and the quality of the speakers as very good. Overall satisfaction was high, with 85% of participants feeling satisfied or very satisfied, and 80% expressing interest in further training. The survey also indicated a need for additional support, such as training, technical assistance, and ongoing education. Regular monitoring and the formation of working groups or cooperatives among miners are recommended to facilitate the implementation of alternative technologies and knowledge sharing. With appropriate follow-up actions, this initiative is expected to have a sustainable positive impact on the health and well-being of miners and the environmental preservation in Buladu Village.
