Abstract

This study aims to develop a diagnostic test for understanding the concept of sound waves and to test the validity and reliability of the test. The research method used is development research with reference to the ADDIE model (Analyzing, Designing, Developing, Implementing, Evaluating). This research was conducted at a senior high school in the city of Bandung involving 30 students as respondents. The stages of developing a diagnostic test include literature study, needs analysis, formulating competencies and indicators, developing test items, expert validation, test trials, reliability analysis, ease of analysis, discriminating power analysis, and item selection. The validity of the diagnostic test for understanding the concept of sound waves was tested using several techniques, such as content validation and construct validation. While the reliability of the diagnostic test was tested using the K-R.20 calculation. The results showed that the developed diagnostic test for understanding the concept of sound waves had good validity and reliability. This test can be used to measure students' understanding of the concept of sound waves and to identify difficulties experienced by students in understanding the concept.

Abstract

The research purpose was to develop and determine feasibility of interactive multimedia instructional game model. The research method used R&D with 4D stages. The reseach was conducted grade V in SD NEGERI 3 Batudaa Kabupaten Gorontalo Provinsi Gorontalo. The result was average score of 91% from media design experts was very feasible criteria, the material experts obtained an average of 85% was very feasible criteria and the practitioner experts obtained an average of 98% was very feasible criteria. Based on this, the interactive multimedia instructional games model was suitable for use for grade V in water cycle concept.

Abstract

This study aims to visualize the temperature distribution on metal plates by solving elliptic differential equations using the help of the Microsoft Excel program. Many physics problems have limited analytic solutions so a numerical solution is needed. One of them is about the temperature distribution on a homogeneous metal plate in a steady-state conditionThe equation of heat flow in steady-state conditions is an elliptic partial differential equation (PDE). By solving this equation, we will have a numerical model of the plate that can be a mesh with a certain temperature point. Each point has been known to calculate the temperature value. The temperature value influenced. The Temperature value influenced borders on the plate and the presence of heat generation. The edge of the plate can be a constant temperature, a convection zone with the outside air, or an isolated edge. This model is then processed using Microsoft Excel with the iteration calculation until the temperature distribution value is obtained. The results obtained a graphical visualization of temperature distribution on the plate.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model Problem Based Learning (PBL) berbantuan PhET Simulation terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa pada materi fluida statis. Penelitian menggunakan desain One Group Pretest-Posttest, dengan subjek penelitian sebanyak 90 siswa kelas XI MIPA SMA Negeri 1 Kabila tahun ajaran 2024/2025 yang dibagi acak dalam tiga kelas. Instrumen penelitian berupa 7 soal uraian yang telah divalidasi dan diuji reliabilitasnya. Data yang terkumpul dianalisis melalui uji normalitas, homogenitas, uji-t, dan analisis normalized gain. Adanya peningkatan hasil signifikan setelah penerapan PBL berbantuan PhET, dengan rata-rata posttest 86,4; 83,5; dan 82,1, serta n-gain tinggi (0,8; 0,78; 0,77). Uji-t menunjukkan thitung > ttabel, menandakan pengaruh signifikan. Penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa PBL berbantuan PhET efektif meningkatkan pemahaman konsep pemecahan masalah siswa.

Abstract

Learning physics on the topic of thermodynamic processes requires media and learning tools that match the characteristics of the material in order to support the learning process. Therefore, Curipod-based media and learning tools that are developed need to be validated to ensure their feasibility before being implemented in learning. This study aimed to determine the validity of interactive learning media based on the Curipod platform and learning devices on thermodynamic processes material. Curipod was developed as an alternative interactive learning medium to support physics learning. The selection of this material was based on the abstract nature of physics concepts, which require dynamic visualization to facilitate understanding. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the comprehensive ADDIE model, with the research limited to the Development stage. Data were collected through validation sheets assessed directly by experts from the Department of Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. The validation process covered four main aspects: content appropriateness, technical presentation, language suitability, and instrument readability. The results showed that the Curipod-based media obtained an average score of 3.77, while the module, teaching materials, student worksheets, learning achievement test, learning implementation observation sheet, student activity observation sheet, and student response questionnaire obtained average scores of 3.80, 3.91, 3.86, 3.85, 3.93, 4.00, and 4.00, respectively. These findings indicate that the developed media and learning devices are categorized as highly valid and can be used in physics learning on thermodynamic processes.

Abstract

Advances in information technology require students to have adequate digital literacy to face the challenges of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, but the facts show a competency gap among early-year students. This study aims to analyze the digital literacy level of Science Education students in the first, third, and fifth semesters of Gorontalo State University based on the dimensions of digital competence, culture, ethics, and security. The method applied is descriptive quantitative through the distribution of structured questionnaires to seventy-two respondents. The research stages include data collection, organization, processing, and descriptive analysis using performance level classification. The research findings indicate that overall, students' digital literacy skills are in the very good category. In detail, quantitative achievement in the digital media competence dimension is 82.64%, the digital culture dimension reaches 96.12%, the digital ethics dimension is 97.2%, and the digital security dimension reaches 96.27%. Although the ethics and security dimensions show the highest scores, students in the early semesters still have deficiencies in technical skills in operating certain application features. The main conclusion of the study confirms that students have a high awareness in implementing Pancasila values ​​and ethical governance in the digital environment. Continuous improvement of technical guidance is still needed so that mastery of hardware and software can support students' academic effectiveness optimally in the future through the integration of a more targeted and systematic technology-based curriculum. ABSTRAKKemajuan teknologi informasi menuntut mahasiswa memiliki literasi digital mumpuni guna menghadapi tantangan Revolusi Industri 4.0, namun fakta menunjukkan adanya kesenjangan kompetensi pada mahasiswa tingkat awal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis tingkat literasi digital mahasiswa Pendidikan IPA Universitas Negeri Gorontalo semester satu, tiga, dan lima berdasarkan dimensi cakap, budaya, etika, serta keamanan digital. Metode yang diterapkan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif melalui penyebaran angket terstruktur kepada tujuh puluh dua responden. Tahapan penelitian mencakup pengumpulan data, pengorganisasian, pengolahan, hingga analisis deskriptif menggunakan klasifikasi tingkat kinerja. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara keseluruhan kemampuan literasi digital mahasiswa berada pada kategori sangat baik. Secara terperinci, capaian kuantitatif pada dimensi cakap bermedia digital sebesar 82,64%, dimensi budaya digital mencapai 96,12%, dimensi etika digital sebesar 97,2%, dan dimensi keamanan digital mencapai 96,27%. Meskipun dimensi etika dan keamanan menunjukkan skor tertinggi, mahasiswa pada semester awal masih memiliki kekurangan dalam kecakapan teknis pengoperasian fitur aplikasi tertentu. Simpulan utama penelitian menegaskan bahwa mahasiswa telah memiliki kesadaran tinggi dalam menerapkan nilai Pancasila dan tata kelola etika dalam lingkungan digital. Peningkatan bimbingan teknis secara berkelanjutan tetap diperlukan agar penguasaan perangkat keras maupun perangkat lunak dapat mendukung efektivitas akademik mahasiswa secara optimal di masa depan melalui integrasi kurikulum berbasis teknologi yang lebih terarah dan sistematis.

Abstract

Olimpiade Sains Nasional (OSN) bidang Fisika merupakan salah satu program resmi nasional yang menuntut penguasaan konsep, penalaran matematis, dan kemampuan pemecahan masalah yang sistematis. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan oleh dosen Fisika Fakultas Mipa Universitas Negeri Gorontalo melalui pendampingan dengan tujuan memperkuat kesiapan siswa peserta OSN Fisika SMA Negeri 3 Gorontalo ke tingkat Provinsi hingga Nasional. Kegiatan dilakukan sejak awal tahun yaitu Januari 2026 hingga ujian tingkat provinsi di Bulan Juli 2026 selama dua kali dalam seminggu menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif dan beriorientasi latihan soal. Kegiatan diawali dengan mengidentifikasi kebutuhan, pemetaan kemampuan awal siswa, penguatan konsep, pembahasan soal nonrutin, latihan mandiri, diskusi, simulasi soal, serta refleksi umpan balik. Evaluasi dilakukan secara deskriptif melalui observasi mentor, lembar kerja siswa, latihan formatif, kinerja pada simulasi, dan umpan balik lisan maupun tertulis. Hasil pendampingan menunjukkan perkembangan positif pada kemampuan siswa dalam mengenali prinsip fisika yang relevan, mengubah persoalan menjadi diagram dan persamaan, menyusun langkah penyelesaian, memeriksa satuan dan kewajaran jawaban, serta mengomunikasikan alasan penyelesaian. Siswa juga tampak lebih aktif dan percaya diri dalam diskusi. Kendala yang masih memerlukan penguatan adalah soal multikonsep, aljabar atau kalkulus tingkat lanjut, dan manajemen waktu. Peserta menilai penjelasan bertahap dan koreksi langsung sebagai bagian paling membantu, serta mengusulkan penambahan simulasi dan bank soal lanjutan. Kolaborasi perguruan tinggi dan sekolah secara berkelanjutan diperlukan untuk membangun ekosistem pembinaan OSN Fisika yang terstruktur.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze Biology education students’ conceptual difficulties in work and energy using the Rasch Model. A descriptive quantitative approach with a diagnostic survey design was employed. The participants were 21 Biology education students who had learned the topic of work and energy. The instrument consisted of 15 diagnostic multiple-choice items scored dichotomously, with 1 indicating a correct answer and 0 indicating an incorrect answer. The data were analyzed using the Rasch Model to examine instrument quality, item fit, item difficulty, Wright Map, score-category monotonicity, and students’ conceptual difficulty patterns. The results showed that students’ average ability was higher than the average item difficulty, with a mean person measure of 1.61 logits. However, the person reliability of 0.08 and person separation index of 0.30 indicated that the instrument had limited ability to distinguish students across different ability levels. The most difficult items were Q14, Q3, Q11, Q13, and Q15, which were related to the application of work, potential energy, and mechanical energy conservation. In contrast, Q2, Q4, Q5, and Q9 were the easiest items because they mainly assessed basic conceptual recognition. These findings indicate that students’ main difficulties were not in recognizing basic terms but in applying and integrating work and energy concepts in physics contexts.

Abstract

Problem-solving skills are important skills in physics learning. However, learning practices in schools are still dominated by conventional methods that are less able to accommodate differences in learning styles and student readiness levels. Therefore, the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model with a differentiated approach is seen as effective in improving students' critical, creative, and analytical thinking skills, especially in sound wave materials. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experiment design. The subject of the study was grade XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Kabila which consisted of one experimental class and two replication classes. The research instrument is in the form of pretest and posttest essay questions to measure problem-solving skills. Data analysis was carried out through Liliefors normality test, Alpha Cronbach reliability, paired sample t-test, and N-Gain calculation. The results of the study showed a significant increase in the average pretest and posttest scores in all classes. The normality test states that the data is normally distributed, while the reliability test confirms that the instrument is classified as reliable. The hypothesis test proved that H? was rejected, with an average N-Gain of more than 0.7 which meant a very high increase. Thus, the application of the differentiated PBL model has been proven to have a positive effect on problem-solving skills and encourage students to be more active, involved, motivated, and able to solve contextual problems according to learning styles.
