Abstract

Having an attractive appearance is now not only for women but also for men. Taking care of the body, especially the face has become a new culture that has shifted the masculine side towards metrosexuals. To get an attractive appearance, a series of treatments are needed, one of which is skincare which requires much money. Such self-care behaviour, of course, also encourages men's consumerism. This study determines how digital marketing communication for skincare products builds men's consumptive behaviour on Instagram. Content analysis of Instagram posts related to the consumption of skincare products collected through the hashtag #scarlettlakilaki was used in this study. The results obtained that the element of dependence is 0.94 or 94 per cent. Then the result is considered credible because it exceeds the minimum threshold. This research concludes that Scarlett transforms masculinity into metrosexuality, blur a gender bias, and builds on the idea that the body of men who use Scarlett is depicted with a pure white body resembling a women's body.

Two data collection techniques are used to obtain accurate and faster details: manual observation and data crawling by Python program. This study found three dominant text variations. The first is a text containing a narrative about Bung Tomo, public information about the Hero, and the word "ex" (mantan -Indonesian) to commemorate users' relations. There are ten dominant words used in the three variations of the text.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the pressing health issues that requires serious attention and immediate intervention. This study aimed to assess the causes of stunting, the challenges faced by communities in ensuring nutrition for children, the management of stunting, and the efforts needed to optimize stunting intervention in rural areas. This study employed a qualitative approach with a total of 30 families having stunted children as informants. The study reveals that preventive measures against stunting should commence early, even during pregnancy. Apart from nutritional deficiencies, equally important contributing factors are inadequate maternal knowledge, recurrent or chronic infections, poor sanitation, and limited healthcare access. One pivotal step in preventing stunting is empowering and centralizing the role of mothers, who should be committed actors in the stunting prevention process. In a child’s growth and development, exclusive breastfeeding along with appropriate complementary feeding demands attention. Understanding child growth stages is crucial for parents to prevent stunting. Although most parents are aware of the significance of meeting their child’s nutritional needs, economic constraints and lack of awareness still hinder some parents from giving extra attention to this matter.

Abstract

This paper contains a theoretical explanation of the practice of managing disposable diaper (popok sekali pakai/poksa) waste. This explanation uses the structuration theory point of view from Anthony Giddens. The selection of the structuration theory is based on the consideration that disposable diaper waste is one of the environmental problems experienced by modern society. Disposable diaper waste is not only a problem in one particular area, but is a global problem. In addition, the main problems in the practice of managing disposable diaper waste are in accordance with several concepts proposed by the structuration theory. The practice of disposable diaper waste management in structuration theory is seen as related to the formation of scenarios about the practice. The advice that can be given is to encourage experts in various fields related to disposable diaper waste to create the same narrative and scenario about the impact of disposable diaper waste and how to manage it for environmental sustainability. However, this theory does not provide an explanation of the role of agencies and the state to solve environmental problems in general and the waste of disposable diapers in particular. This theory also does not emphasize the medium of internalizing the value of the structure to agents. The use of other theories can be considered to explain this problem, namely the theory of social practice from Piere Bourdieu.

Abstract

Poverty Pressure for People with Social Welfare Problems (PMKS) During the Pandemic in Gresik RegencyThe COVID-19 pandemic has brought a domino effect to increase poverty rates. In Gresik Regency, the number of layoffs (PHK) and small businesses that went out of business added new poor people so the number of PMKS increased. This study intends to describe the poverty pressure experienced by PMKS during the COVID-19 pandemic and the appropriate handling strategy. The research method used is descriptive research by conducting structured interviews to 400 PMKS in Gresik Regency. The results of this study found that the poverty pressure carried out by PMKS during the COVID-19 pandemic was a reduction in savings and assets owned to meet their daily needs during the pandemic where they lost their jobs and the businesses they were engaged in experienced setbacks, difficulties in meeting the needs of life and family nutrition, increased debt to domestic disputes and the threat of children dropping out of school. The easiest survival strategy for PMKS is to make changes to consumption patterns, while help from relatives is relatively difficult to obtain and productive activities such as business diversification are also relatively difficult to do. The coping strategy that can be done is to empower PMKS, especially the productive age group, which aims not only to prevent the fading of PMKS' ability to help themselves but in the long term they can get out of the pressures of poverty they are experiencing.

Abstract

Panopticism in the medical world reflects a structural dominance of power. Panopticism takes the form of medical regime authority aimed at surveillance, regulation, and discipline to frame the thoughts and actions of individuals in line with modern health standards. The issue is that panopticism doesn't always work effectively according to the desires of the medical regime. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the mechanisms of panopticism and identify the spectrum of resistance to the modern healthcare system. Using an applied method, the study found resistance in modern health practices, namely: (a) accessing modern treatment but accompanied by skepticism and criticism of modern medicine; (b) developing a pluralistic or combinative medical orientation; (c) opting out and constructing alternative discourses about the healthcare system following autonomy of will and power. Health resistance is triggered by skepticism and distrust, asymmetrical relations based on scientific authority, limited access to modern medical products, and the existence of informal networks, as well as the strong role of local social and cultural figures in directing the choices of healthcare systems for the community.
