Abstract

Library information services utilizing artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology, such as literature review services that are closely related to the process of searching and finding reading sources or scientific information, are becoming very relevant today. In Indonesia, one of the libraries that has implemented AI-based technology in its literature review service is the BRIN Library. Scispace, an AI-powered platform used to simplify the process of understanding scientific papers, has been utilized by the BRIN Library since November 2023. Scispace is interesting to study because its potential has not been widely explored. Based on this review, this study aims to examine the role of Scispace in supporting literature review services in libraries. The benefit of this study is to provide an overview of the optimization of literature review services using Scispace technology at the BRIN Library, both its advantages and disadvantages. The scope of this study object is the BRIN Library, a special library under the auspices of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) which is the parent of all researchers on a national scale. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach in the form of document analysis, observation and interviews. The documents analyzed were the business process (SOP) of Literature Review Services at the BRIN Library. Observations and interviews were conducted with two librarians who have capacity in the field of information services at the BRIN Library. The results of the study indicate that Scispace is able to accommodate the needs of literature review services in a library, especially in the stages of searching and selecting literature. Abstraction, acceleration (speeding up) time, and accuracy are the advantages obtained from utilizing Scispace. In addition, Scispace also has shortcomings although not too fundamental, such as the import feature in the reference manager feature (Zotero) which was ineffective when operated using a shared account. Thus, the Scispace technology is very possible to be utilized by library managers to support their literature review services, especially special libraries and universities with users who are very close to research activities and writing scientific articles.

Abstract

Disaster management in Indonesia faces complex challenges due to the high risks of various natural disasters. In this context, a web-based knowledge management system (KMS) has been identified as a potential solution to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of information management during emergencies. This research presents a systematic literature review aiming to evaluate the implementation of web-based KMS in disaster management in Indonesia. Through careful analysis of several related studies and reports, this research identifies trends, challenges, and best practices in the implementation of web-based KMS. The analysis results indicate that web-based KMS has significant potential for facilitating real-time information collection, storage, and distribution, which are crucial in disaster emergency situations. However, challenges such as uneven technological infrastructure, a lack of trained human resources, and inadequate policy support hinder effective implementation. Proposed strategic recommendations include strengthening technological infrastructure, providing continuous training for KMS users, and enhancing cross-sector collaboration. Strong policy support from the government is also deemed essential to encourage widespread adoption and use of KMS.

Likewise, libraries must provide service innovations in order to reduce the physical contact and any risk to the virus transmission. The objective of this research is to identify trends and types of library service innovations in effort to confront Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. The method of this research is systematic literature review (SLR), which is a method that can be used to measure or identify a phenomenon or a question that involves and requires analysis of several literature resources. The results obtained from database search were found 24 literatures relevant to the topic of innovation trends in adjusting with the Covid-19 pandemic in Indonesia. Library innovation in the form of online library services dominates services in libraries and is also widely adapted. The types of library service innovations that are mostly carried out by libraries in Indonesia includes online circulation services with OPAC access through the website, the use of google forms, interaction of ask a Librarian with WhatsApp, Telegram, and Email. In the long term, this library innovation is expected to be able to serve and provide better library services, not only worthwhile during the pandemic.
