Abstract

This study aims to empirically examine the effects of rewards, punishments, and organizational culture on the performance of marketing financing employees at PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Regional 3 Palembang. A quantitative research design was employed using a survey method involving 238 respondents from the marketing financing division. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to evaluate both the simultaneous and partial effects of the independent variables rewards, punishments, and organizational culture on employee performance. The results show that rewards, punishments, and organizational culture each have a positive and significant impact on employee performance. These findings highlight the importance of implementing proper reward systems, fair punishment policies, and cultivating a strong organizational culture to improve employee performance. However, the three variables collectively explain only 20.3% of the variance in employee performance, suggesting that 79.7% may be influenced by other factors not examined in this study. This study contributes to the literature on human resource management in the Islamic banking sector by integrating Goal Setting Theory to explain how performance-based incentives and cultural alignment shape employee behavior. The practical implications can guide BSI leadership in designing more targeted HR strategies to enhance competitiveness and productivity.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of work engagement and job satisfaction on employee performance, highlighting the mediating role of organizational commitment within the framework of the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) theory. Conducted in the public sector of South Sumatra Province, data was collected from civil servants using a quantitative survey approach and analyzed with Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Work engagement and job satisfaction were measured with established multidimensional scales, while organizational commitment and employee performance were assessed using validated constructs. The findings demonstrate that both work engagement and job satisfaction positively and significantly impact employee performance, both directly and indirectly through organizational commitment. Organizational commitment acts as a crucial bridge that transforms motivation and satisfaction into increased task achievement, loyalty, creativity, and responsibility. This integrative model confirms the relevance of psychological resources in sustaining high performance even within bureaucratic environments. The study contributes theoretically by reinforcing the JD-R model’s applicability to public sector contexts, and offers practical insights for human resource management aimed at fostering engagement, satisfaction, and commitment. Recommendations for future research include expanding sample scope and employing longitudinal approaches to capture dynamic changes in employee attitudes and outcomes within government organizations.

Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the influence of training, work experience, and work motivation on employee performance at Radio Republik Indonesia Palembang. This research used quantitative data analysis to measure whether there was a correlation between the variables. The data collection included primary and secondary data, with questionnaire being the primary data as a tool to record the respondents’ view on the variables. The research population included all 86 employees of Radio Republik Indonesia Palembang, using a saturated sampling technique. The data was analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. The results show that training was significantly affecting employee performance. This finding implies that training can have an impact on employee performance if there is participation, repetition, relevance, transference, and feedback. On the contrary, work experience has an insignificant effect on employee performance, indicating that long periods of employment do not determine an employee's work experience. Lastly, work motivation has a significant effect on employee performance. This finding suggests that employees that have motivation in the form of need for achievement, need for power, and need for affiliate as their driving force could maintain the intensity, direction, and persistency in achieving the designated performance. The company needs to review employees with long periods of service to determine whether the length of time they have spent in their jobs is in line with the skills and competencies they should have gained from their work experience.
