Abstract

Population growth has an impact on increasing waste production. Semarang City produces 1,110 tons of waste per day. One of the efforts made by the Environmental Service (DLH) regarding waste management is by running a waste bank program. However, this program has not been implemented in all regions. Like in Tlogosari Kulon Village, there is no existing waste bank group running this program. Even though this area is a densely populated residential area and is an area prone to flooding. Therefore, this service is carried out to provide understanding and knowledge regarding waste management, especially inorganic types, and carry out simple actions. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The result of this activity is that there is an understanding of waste management as evidenced by the action of collecting waste according to mutually agreed inorganic waste criteria, reusing gallons and plastic cups as planting media, and plastic bottles as decoration.

Abstract

Background: The declining quality of seawater has an impact on the social and economic sectors of the community, whose livelihoods actually rely on the coastal areas. It starts with the decline in the tourism sector and the catchment area of fishermen, who have to go farther to catch fish. This study aims to determine the impact of Disposal C waste distribution on the surrounding environment and investigate the quality of seawater polluted by waste disposal from Class C quarrying activities. It also determined the socioeconomic aspects of the mining community. Method: The research methods consisted of water quality analysis, questionnaire distribution, and analytical hierarchy processing. Result: The results indicated that infall TSS was 21 mg/l and outfall TSS was 18 mg/l. Infall turbidity was 11.9 NTU and outfall turbidity was 0 NTU. Infall BOD was 2.28 ml/l and outfall BOD was 1.92 ml/l. The total infall coliform was 9200 MPN/100 ml and the outfall coliform was 45 MPN/100 ml. There were four social impacts and four economic impacts. The environmental impact showed a change of 11.50% or 8.362 m2, and the total exploration area had 72.687 m2.

Abstract

The hinterland area is one part of the nodal area concept, where the division is based on the respective functions of each region. This study aims to analyze the effect of the growth of Kendari City on the development of the hinterland area of Southeast Sulawesi Province. Research using qualitative and quantitative methods with descriptive analysis and spatial analysis The results of the study showed that there was an increase in the interaction between Kendari City and other surrounding sub-districts, namely Ranomeeto District, Sampara District, and Soropia District. The model used to measure the interaction is the gravity model, which produces the gravity number for each sub-district. The district that has the largest gravity number with Kendari City is Ranomeeto District, followed by Sampara District, and finally Soropia District. Distance has a negative relationship with the force of gravity. The closer the distance between the two areas, the greater the gravity number generated, which indicates that the interaction between the two areas is getting bigger. In general, the interaction between Kendari City and its hinterland sub-districts during 2018–2022 has increased, although the increase has slowed down. The interaction between Kendari City and three other surrounding sub-districts, namely Ranomeeto Sub-District, Sampara Sub-District, and Soropia Sub-District, can be categorized as a generative type of relationship, namely a relationship that is mutually beneficial or mutually developing between more advanced regions and the regions behind them.

Abstract

Land acquisition for the construction of the Sorong SEZ will be carried out in 2023. In the development plan, the land area required for the Sorong SEZ development plan reaches 523.7 ha, which is the property of the Kami clan. The object of land acquisition for this development consists of community land in Arar village with mixed garden land conditions. This community service activity aims to increase awareness and participation of the Arar Village community in the land acquisition process for public interest development in the Sorong Special Economic Zone (KEK), Southwest Papua. This community activity was held on February 1, 2024, at the Arar Village Meeting Hall and the Sorong KEK location. This community service activity is carried out with several activities, namely: (1) preparation for the activity location and preparation of presentation materials to be delivered; (2) licensing administration and outreach to the Arar Village Government, Babinsa, and the community; (3) carrying out outreach activities at the Arar Village Meeting Hall regarding the importance of community participation in land acquisition for public purposes in the Sorong SEZ; and (4) implementation of activities and inspection of affected locations, significantly growing plants and buildings at the Sorong KEK location. The implementation of land acquisition for the construction of the Sorong SEZ went smoothly, driven by the active participation of the people of Kampung Arar. Therefore, the recommendations for this activity are: (a) Land acquisition activities are very complex activities, requiring good synergy between the government and the community; and (b) In implementing land acquisition activities, the approach taken to the community is not only carried out formally but can also be carried out informally so that the community can fully participate in development in the community area.

Abstract

The sustainability of the tourism area can be realized if there is a balance between aspects in the development area, so that the area is able to show the functionality between each aspect in the development area. The analysis methods in this study are qualitative analysis, site analysis, and SWOT analysis. The results of this study are (a) The development of the Nuni Beach tourism area is planned with a clear division of zones, namely the Public Zone, Semi-Private Zone, and Private Zone, to facilitate accessibility and comfort for visitors and managers. The total area of the planned area reaches ± 71,249.3 m², including various facilities such as parking areas, management offices, accommodation, multi-purpose rooms, as well as places to eat and parks. This approach is expected to support the growth of planned and sustainable tourism in Nuni Beach, while maintaining environmental sustainability and providing a pleasant experience for tourists; and (b) The development strategy of Nuni Beach as a tourism area focuses on utilizing existing strengths and opportunities through an aggressive approach, while overcoming weaknesses and threats with comprehensive planning. Through effective promotion, infrastructure improvement, human resource training, and sustainable environmental management, it is hoped that Nuni Beach can develop into an attractive and sustainable tourist destination, attracting more tourists while preserving nature.

Abstract

Water is a vital component for life on Earth. Currently, many people still struggle to access sufficient water due to limited availability. This research aims to determine the pH, TDS, salinity, conductivity, turbidity, TSS, and temperature of well water. The results of testing several physical parameters indicate the quality of well water in Pulau Doom and SP4, Sorong Regency. Measurements of pH, TDS, conductivity, salinity, turbidity, and temperature of the tested well water samples did not meet the quality standards set forth in the Ministry of Health Regulation Number 2 of 2023 concerning Environmental Health. The average pH level of the well water was 8.2, while the values for TDS, salinity, and conductivity were 0. The turbidity measurement was 0.26 NTU (still above the standard). Based on the initial testing, it can be concluded that filtration and treatment, such as boiling, are necessary to minimize the negative impacts of consuming well water. The second test was conducted to identify the quality of the dam water in SP4, Sorong Regency, to determine its suitability for use. This test used physical and chemical parameters measured with a pH meter, AMT03 AMTAST pH/EC/TDS Meter, and TSS LH-XZ03 Turbidity Meter, which provide direct and concrete data. The testing technique involved laboratory measurements. However, both water sources still meet the drinking water quality standards specified in the Ministry of Health Regulation Number 2 of 2023.
