Abstract

Intensified utilization of scad fish and frequent catches of immature fish have disrupted the recruitment of young fish in the wild. This study aims to analyze the length-weight relationship and growth patterns of scad fish. Data were collected at the Fish Auction Place (FAP) of Waai Port, Central Maluku, from February to April 2024. Scad fish samples were measured for length and weight and analyzed using linear regression and multiple analysis to determine the length-weight relationship, with Von Bertalanffy analysis used to examine growth patterns. The study found a coefficient value (b) of 2.6017, indicating that the fish's length growth is faster than its weight increase, showing negatively allometric growth. The growth coefficient (K) is 0.061613 per year, with an asymptotic length of 37.44 cm. The (t0) value, indicating the age when fish length is close to zero, is 0.43 years. These findings suggest that scad fish from this population grow more in length than in weight. This has implications for fisheries management, which must regulate scad fish capture and utilization to prevent disrupting the recruitment and growth of young fish populations. Sustainable management practices are essential to maintain scad fish stocks and the balance of aquatic ecosystems in the region. ABSTRAK Peningkatan upaya pemanfaatan ikan layang yang intensif dan hasil tangkapannya lebih sering terdiri dari ikan-ikan yang belum mencapai ukuran matang gonad pertama kali, menyebabkan terganggunya proses rekruitmen ikan-ikan muda di alam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis hubungan panjang-berat serta pola pertumbuhan ikan layang dari populasi tersebut. Pengumpulan data dilakukan di Tempat Pelelangan Ikan (TPI) Pelabuhan Waai, Maluku Tengah, selama periode Februari hingga April 2024. Sampel ikan layang yang didaratkan diukur panjang dan beratnya, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan metode regresi linier serta analisis berganda untuk mengkaji hubungan panjang-berat, serta menggunakan analisis Von Bertalanffy untuk memeriksa pola pertumbuhan ikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai koefisien (b) sebesar 2,6017, yang mengindikasikan pertumbuhan panjang ikan lebih cepat dibandingkan dengan pertambahan beratnya atau pertumbuhan alometrik negatif. Selain itu, ditemukan bahwa koefisien pertumbuhan (K) adalah 0,061613 per tahun dengan panjang asimtotik mencapai 37,44 cm. Nilai (t0), yang menunjukkan usia pada saat panjang ikan mendekati nol, adalah 0,43 tahun. Berdasarkan temuan tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa ikan layang dari populasi yang diteliti mengalami pertumbuhan panjang yang lebih dominan dibandingkan dengan peningkatan beratnya. Kondisi ini dapat berdampak pada strategi manajemen perikanan yang perlu memperhatikan pengaturan penangkapan dan pemanfaatan ikan layang agar tidak mengganggu proses rekruitmen dan pertumbuhan populasi ikan muda di alam. Pengelolaan yang berkelanjutan sangat diperlukan untuk memastikan kelestarian stok ikan layang serta keseimbangan ekosistem perairan di wilayah tersebut. Abstract

The introduction of marine ecosystems to school children, especially those in junior high school (SMP), plays an important role in environmental education. The aim of this service is to provide knowledge to Dian Harapan Middle School students regarding marine ecosystems and the various organisms that live in them. This community service activity at Dian Harapan Middle School will be held on Thursday, April 4 2024.  This activity was attended by 149 students from classes 7A, 7B, 8A, 8B, 9A, and 9B. This service activity is carried out through several stages, namely licensing in the form of coordination with the school, preparation in the form of making presentation materials, implementation in the form of providing material about marine ecosystems, quizzes, introduction to biota samples and tools for measuring environmental parameters, evaluation in the form of pre-test and post-test answers. test and closing by holding a group photo session. Middle School students at Dian Harapan School are getting to know and know more about marine ecosystems, so it is important to preserve natural resources in the sea.

Abstract

Pengenalan tentang ekosistem laut kepada generasi muda seperti di Sekolah Menengah Pertama (SMP) memegang peran penting dalam peningkatan literasi sains. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan literasi sains para siswa SMP 8 Ambon terkait ekosistem laut. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat di SMP 8 Ambon ini dilaksanakan pada hari Jumat, 30 Agustus 2024. Kegiatan ini diikuti sebanyak 40 siswa yang terdari kelas XI-1 dan XI-2. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahapan yaitu perizinan berupa koordinasi dengan pihak sekolah, persiapan berupa pembuatan materi presentasi, pelaksanaan berupa pemberian materi tentang ekosistem laut, evaluasi berupa hasil jawaban pre-test dan post-test serta pemberian hadiah bagi siswa yang bisa menjawab pertanyaan dengan benar. Siswa SMP Sekolah Dian Harapan semakin mengenal dan mengetahui tentang ekosistem laut sehingga penting untuk dijaga kelestarian sumber daya alam di laut. Hasil kegiatan ini diharapkan bahwa literasi sains Siswa SMP Negeri 8 Ambon terkait ekosistem laut semakin meningkat sehingga dapat menjaga serta melestarikan sumber daya alam di laut.

Abstract

Gastropods and bivalves are benthic organisms from molluscs’ phylum. These organisms play an important role in aquatic ecosystems such as grazer, detritus feeder, predator. Some species have economic important value. Suli coastal water has higher diversity of marine molluscs, which is used by local community as protein sources besides fishes. This resource faces threats due to utilization activities by the community during the low tide period. The objectives of this research are to analyze community structure of this mollusc including species composition, ecological density, potency, frequency of occurrence, ecological index of communities, as well as to analyze the distribution pattern of this marine mollusc. This study was conducted in December 2023 in the intertidal zone of Suli coastal watesr with applying transect line methods during the day at low tide period. The total of 719 individual marine gastropods collected in this study area consisted of five orders, 19 family, 36 genera and 50 species. The highest ecological density and potency of gastropods belong to Monetaria annulus and Rochia nilotica. In other hand, as much as 147 individuals of bivalves found in this area, which is included in six order, 10 family, 16 genera dan 20 species. Anadara antiquata, and Balbatia decusatta have the higher ecological density and potency, while Trachicardium subrugossum, Anadara antiquata, and Dosinia contracta have the higher frequency of occurence. The diversity of gastropod and bivalve in this study area is in medium category, evenness index is high category and lowest dominance index. Marine gastropods and bivalves showed the clumped distribution pattern.

Abstract

Background: Intertidal zone is located between high and low tide in the marine coastal waters. This zone has high diversity of marine resources, inclucing marine gastropods.Aims: The objective of this research was to analyze gastropod community structure namely ecological density, abundance, and ecological indices such as diversity index, evenness index, and dominance index at the coastal waters of Taruy Village, East Seram in May 2023. Methods: The ecological data of marine gastropods using line transect method in which was perpendicular to the coastline. Twelve transects were placed with the distance between transect is 50-m, and 5 meters between quadrates. Each gastropod in the quadrate was counted and preserved by 70% alcohol. Identification was done in Marine Science Laboratory, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Pattimura University, Ambon.Results: A total of 41 marine gastropods species found in this area, which is grouped into 5 order, 16 families, and 29 genera. Clypeomerus battilariaeformis has the highes ecological densisty and abundance. There were 19 species of marine gastropods which have lowest density and abundance. Species diversity of marine gastropods in this area is moderately categorized (H` = 2.97), while evenness index is highest (J`= 0.80), and there is no dominance species in the community (D = 0.08). Nineteen species of marine gastropods are rare species, and 13 species are common species.

Abstract

 Climate change is a global threat whose impacts are felt in various sectors including marine ecosystems and coastal communities. Increasing sea surface temperatures, rising sea levels are some of the significant impacts of climate change. The socialization of environmental literacy about climate change and its impacts on marine ecosystems and coastal communities for students of Senior High School (SMA) 9 Ambon aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of climate change issues, and to increase student knowledge and skills to adapt and reduce the negative impacts of climate change. This community service (PKM) activity was carried out by lecturer staf of Marine Science Department of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science, Pattimura University, Ambon on February 14, 2025, attended by 60 participants and 4 members of the Socialization Team. The socialization method used was lectures. Evaluation was carried out through questionnaires and discussions during the activity. As many as 85% of students had a very good level of understanding of the material provided. Student enthusiasm was very high in participating in this socialization activity. It is hoped that this activity can be carried out continuously for students in various high schools on Ambon Island.

Abstract

Gastropoda laut memegang peranan penting dalam ekosistem laut terutama sebagai salah satu parameter untuk menilai kesehatan lingkungan laut. Perairan pesisir Negeri Seith, Maluku Tengah memiliki komunitas perairan pantai yang penting terutama komunitas gastropoda. Penelitian ini dilakukan di perairan pantai Negeri Seith dengan tujuan untuk mengidentifikasi spesies gastropoda, menganalissi kelimpahan, densitas ekologi, dan frekuensi kehadiran spesies gastropoda, serta menganalisis indeks-indeks ekologi komunitas termasuk indeks keanakearagaman, indeks keseragaman, dan indeks dominansi gastropoda. Sampling dilakukan dengan metode transek garis dengan ukuran kuadran sebesar 2x2 meter pada 11 transek. Sebanyak 1311 specimen gastropoda yang tergolong dalam 15 spesies gastropoda, dan dikelompokan dalam 4 ordo, 7 famili, dan 9 genus dengan total 1311 individu. Clypeomorus moniliferus memiliki nilai kepadatan, kelimpahan dan frekuensi kehadiran tertinggi, masing-masing nilai kepadatan sebesar 9,45 ind/m², kelimpahan = 384438 individu, dan frekuensi kehadiran = 85,87%. Nerita exuvia, Conus decurtata, dan Pyrene testudinaria memiliki nilai kepadatan, kelimpahan dan frekuensi kehadiran terendah. Indeks keanekaragaman spesies (H`) gastropoda pada lokasi penelitian adalah H` = 1,29, indeks keseragaman (E) = 0,47, dan indeks dominansi (D) = 0,46. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa struktur komunitas gastropoda di ekosistem lamun Negeri Seith tergolong rendah, namun didominasi oleh spesies tertentu

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merumuskan model dinamika estimasi biomassa dan stok karbon tegakan atas pada spesies Sonneratia alba di Pesisir Kabupaten Muna Barat. Penelitian dilakukan melalui pengukuran laju pertumbuhan diameter selama tahun 2019 dan merekonstruksi beberapa model allometrik estimasi biomassa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model dinamika estimasi biomassa, stok karbon, dan CO2-equivalen pada spesies Sonneratia alba yaitu Bt = 0,186 (0,031t + 0,587)2,46, Ct = 0.087 (0,031t + 0,587)2.46, dan CO2t = 0.319 (0,031t + 0,587)2.46. Model tersebut memiliki nilai yang relevan dengan model estimasi biomassa dari peneliti lainnya yaitu B = 0,251 ρ (D)2,46 dengan nilai ρ = 0,74 g/cm3. Hasil perhitungan total biomass, stok karbon dan serapan karbon pada Sonneratia alba (d = 20,46 cm, K = 209 pohon/ha,umur = 50 tahun) yaitu masing – masing 308,27 kg/pohon, 143,37 kgC/pohon, dan 525,68 kgCO2/pohon atau 64,43 ton/ha, 30,16 tonC/ha, dan 110,58 tonCO2/ha.

Abstract

Abstrak: Ikan layang putih adalah sumberdaya perikanan pelagis kecil yang potensial di perairan teritorial Indonesia dan berada di Provinsi Maluku, khususnya di perairan Banda Utara. Penelitian ini dilakukan di perairan Banda Utara, Maluku, dari bulan Januari 2024 sampai April 2024. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mempelajari kondisi stok ikan layang putih (D. macrosoma) didasarkan pada dinamika populasi dari distribusi kelompok ukuran ikan (kohort) , ukuran ikan pertama kali tertangkap (Lc), pola pertumbuhan dan ukuran pertama matang gonad. Contoh ikan dikoleksi tiap bulan di tempat pendaratan dari nelayan purse seine. Total 510 individu. Kondisi stok ikan layang putih didasarkan pada analisis menunjukkan bahwa stok masih di bawah tingkat Kohort bulan Ferbuari tertinggi pada 27,30-28,80 cm , ikan layang yang pertama kali tertangkap (Lc) 50% adalah 23,2 cm , panjang asimptot (L∞) sebesar 33,2 cm dan nilai koefisien laju pertumbuhan (K) sebesar 0,08 per tahun dan ukuran ikan layang pertama kali matang gonad (Lm 50) adalah 22,08 cm. Agar tetap menjaga keberadaan stok ikan layang tersebut diharapkan agar penangkapan dengan menggunakan jaring bobo (purse saine ) harus selektif.

Abstract

Asosiasi inter-spesies merupakan kemampuan suatu spesies dalam hal bergabung atau memiliki keeratan atau tidak diantara spesies-spesies tersebut. Penelitian terkait asosiasi inter-spesies pada lamun masih sedikit dilakukan. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini perlu dilakukan untuk mengetahui jenis asosiasi antar spesies lamun di Perairan Pulau Maginti. Pengambilan data lamun dengan menggunakan metode transek garis. Pengamatan lamun menggunakan frame kuadrat dengan ukuran 50 cm x 50 cm. Pengukuran asosiasi dua jenis menggunakan tabel kontingensi 2x2. Asosiasi inter-spesies lamun di perairan Pulau Maginti bersifat positif dan negatif. Asosisasi positif terbesar yaitu pada pasangan spesies Halodule uninervis dan Halophila minor dengan nilai 0,264 serta Enhalus acoroides dan Thalassia hemprichii dengan nilai 0,410. Sedangkan asosiasi negatif terbesar yaitu pada pasangan spesies Enhalus acoroides dan Halophila minor dengan nilai -0,642 serta Enhalus acoroides dan Halodule uninervis dengan nilai -0,730.
