Abstract

This study aims to study the evaluation of library services for persons with disabilities in the Sleman Regency Public Library. This research is a qualitative research. Data collection methods are observation, interview, and observation. The results of this study are; There are three standard service components issued by IFLA namely physical access, media format, services, and computers. Some Library Services already meet the standards, but there are some services that do not meet the standards. Sleman Regency Library needs to pay more attention to this matter. Based on these three components, the Sleman Regency Library and Archives Service has braille corner for users with visual impairments. However, it is better if braille in the library is not fully utilized by the user. So the library then needs to hold a socialization activity so that the braille angle can be utilized to its full potential in accordance with the information needs of the visually impaired community. The findings of this study are that the Sleman Regency Public Library has actually provided services for people with visual impairments, but this service has not been optimally managed. This study adds to the Library or Librarian to disseminate information to the public about braille corner services so that they can be utilized optimally.

Abstract

Today's digital library is a necessity. A system that provides all-digital information and services requires that all aspects of it should be accessed effectively. In the context of information retrieval in digital libraries, the information retrieval systems are important instruments. The system becomes a link between relevant information and its users. Evaluation of the information retrieval system to determine its effectiveness is important to ensure that users receive good retrieval services. Recall and precision are approaches to measure the effectiveness of information retrieval systems that are widely used. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the ISI Yogyakarta digital library retrieval system based on recall and precision approaches. This study will provide benefits for librarians in knowing the effectiveness of the information retrieval system and the extent of their accuracy in indexing. This research uses an experimental method with a quantitative approach. The researcher chose a sample of the searching keywords purposively and then tested them by searching on the portal http://digilib.isi.ac.id/. The data obtained were analyzed using the formula recall and precision. In this study the subjects tested were interior design subjects. The precision measurement of 10 keywords on the subject of interior design gets 92.37% results while the recall measurement gets 80.79% results. The result stated that precision is higher than recall, it showed that the information retrieval system of ISI Yogyakarta’s digital library is quite effective.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran Sekolah Menulis Mata Aksara dalam meningkatkan minat baca masyarakat sekitar. Masalah yang diteliti dalam penelitian ini merupakan masalah sosial yang berkaitan dengan sebuah perilaku manusia, sehingga desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain penelitian kualitatif deskriptif. Dalam penelitian ini peneliti mengambil tiga orang informan, yaitu penggagas program Sekolah Menulis Mata Aksara sebagai penanggung-jawab kegiatan, dan dua peserta Sekolah Menulis Mata Aksara. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi non partisipan, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Untuk analisis data dengan reduksi data, model data, dan verifikasi simpulan. Dalam penelitian ini uji keabsahan data menggunan cara member checking, yaitu dengan cara melakukan konfrontasi kembali kepada para informan mengenai data yang telah diperoleh. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Sekolah Menulis Mata Aksara telah memberikan kontribusi pada peningkatan minat baca masyarakat, utamanya pelajar melalui kegiatan pelatihan menulis. Adapun hal tersebut dibuktikan dengan meningkatnya rasa ingin tahu, potret kondisi lingkungan yang representatif untuk kegiatan membaca, ketersediaan alokasi waktu luang yang cukup untuk membaca, motivasi membaca yang kuat dari para peserta kegiatan, dan adanya motivasi yang kuat dari lingkungan.
