Abstract

The increasing number of Covid 19 sufferers makes us have to make solution steps to avoid Covid 19. The elderly are a vulnerable group to contracting this virus. There are degenerative diseases that appear in the elderly, such as diabetes and hypertension, which will worsen the condition of the elderly. The application of 3M (washing hands, wearing masks, and drinking herbal medicine) can improve the health and immunity of the elderly. This community service activity carried in three stages: the preparation stage (coordinating with partners), the implementation stage (conducting education on proper handwashing, wearing masks, conducting herbal medicine training), and the evaluation stage. This community service activity was held at the MK 2 posyandu, Tamanan sub-district, Kediri City. This activity is the distribution of hands-on aid, masks, and herbal medicine, and an increase in public knowledge about 3M. The application of washing hands, wearing masks, and drinking herbal medicine can be a solution to prevent transmission of Covid 19 to the elderly.

Abstract

The elderly are vulnerable individuals, so their health needs to be improved. Knowledge of the elderly about maintaining health also needs to be improved. One way to improve the health of the elderly is through elderly exercise. The purpose of this implementation is to increase the knowledge of elderly about elderly exercise. The implementation method is divided into three stages. The first stage is to make preparations (coordination with partners, for example, caregivers), the next stage is to carry out activities (implementing counseling and simulation of elderly exercise), and the last stage is evaluation. The implementation was carried out in RW 6 Balowerti on 2-7 June 2021. This implementation was followed by 38 elderly. Based on the results, pretest were obtained almost half (47.4%) of the elderly had less knowledge levels, in the posttest it was found that most (57.9%) of the elderly had a good level of knowledge. From the results of the test, it can be concluded that there is an influence of health education and simulation of elderly exercise on the level of knowledge of the elderly.

Abstract

Background: Communication failure during handover is the main cause of the patient's injury and is the root cause of 65% of the sentinel incident. Bad handover is assumed to have correlation with clinical diagnosis inaccuracies, delay in diagnosis, delay in laboratory tests, treatment errors, inconsistent or misinterpretation of results, duplication of tests, increase in complications of the Hospital.Purpose: This study aimed to determine the factors related to the quality of the patient's handover in inpatient room of the hospital. Methods: This research used a correlational analysis study with a cross sectional approach. Data retrieval use questionnaires and observation sheets. The number of samples on this study is 79 nurses taken in random sampling techniques. Statistical analysis used is a test of spearman rank. Results: The result of this research revealed that most of the respondents (69.6%) are diploma graduates, and 72.2% of respondents have a working time of < 5 years. Almost all respondents (93.7%) have good motivation, and 94.9% of respondents have good handover quality. The last educational variable (p = 0.388) and the nurse’s working time (P = 0.209) are not related to the quality of the handover, while the motivation (P = 0.000) and the implementation of the chief nurse’s supervision (P = 0.000) relate to the quality of the handover between the shifts in the inpatient room of the hospital. Conclusion of this study is the motivation and the implementation of the chief nurse’s supervision relate to the quality of the handover between the shifts in the inpatient room of the hospital. Hospital’s management is expected to raise the motivation of nurses in conducting handover and enhancing the supervision of the chief nurse to improve the quality of the patient's handover and minimize the errors in information exchange conducted by nurses

Abstract

Depression is an unfavorable condition for the elderly. When depression is untreated, elderly can isolate themselves. In addition, elderly can end his life. Spiritual emotional freedom technique (SEFT) can be used as complementary therapy for elderly with depression. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of SEFT among elderly with depression at Jombang geriatric service unit in Pare Kediri. A quasi experimental was conducted in this study with intervention (n = 15) and control group (n = 15). The results revealed the mean of pretest in both groups showed mild depression. The pretests score was 7.07 for control and 7.20 for intervention group. In the posttest, intervention group show reduction of mild depression became no depression (87%), whereas the mean of the control group remained in mild depression (score = 6.93). The results of paired t-test in intervention group showed that the p-value <0.05 in conclusion, there is a significant difference between the pretest and posttest score in intervention. Based on the findings, the SEFT could reduce depression among elderly. In addition SEFT can be used as complementary therapy in nursing for elderly with depression.
