Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has encouraged the creation of various intelligent systems that can support decision-making processes, one of which is an expert system. In the academic environment, students often encounter difficulties in determining appropriate thesis topics that align with their areas of interest. Therefore, this study aims to develop an expert system integrated with a WhatsApp chatbot to assist students in identifying suitable thesis themes based on their academic interests. The system employs the Depth-First Search (DFS) algorithm as a problem-solving approach due to its flexibility in exploring decision paths within the knowledge base. The expert system is implemented through a WhatsApp chatbot interface to ensure ease of use, as the messaging interface is already widely familiar among university students. This approach allows users to interact with the system naturally without the need to learn a new interface. The results of system testing indicate that the developed expert system effectively assists students in determining thesis topics. Evaluation results show an accuracy level of 95.4%, demonstrating that the proposed system provides reliable recommendations. Furthermore, the use of a chatbot-based interface enhances user accessibility and usability. In conclusion, the integration of an expert system with the DFS algorithm and a WhatsApp chatbot interface provides an effective and user-friendly solution for supporting students in selecting appropriate thesis topics based on their interests.

Abstract

Child literacy and financial literacy are important skills that need to be instilled from an early age to prepare children for future life challenges. This activity aims to improve children's literacy and introduce the basic concept of financial literacy through reading and coloring activities. The activity was carried out at the Kraton Village Library, Yosowilangun District, Lumajang Regency in August 2025, involving children from early childhood to elementary school. In this activity, children were given a storybook with the theme of financial literacy, followed by coloring activities with pictures related to the stories they read, such as pictures of piggy banks and money. The results of the activity showed that children not only improved their reading skills, but also gained a basic understanding of money management, such as saving and managing a simple budget. The involvement of parents in accompanying children also makes a positive contribution to strengthening the understanding of financial literacy at home. The success of this activity shows the importance of the role of village libraries as literacy centers that can integrate literacy and financial literacy. It is hoped that this activity can be used as a model to improve children's literacy and financial literacy in other regions in Indonesia. Abstract

Perkembangan Taman Bacaan Masyarakat (TBM) di Indonesia merupakan salah satu cara menciptakan budaya literasi di masyarakat. TBM berfungsi sebagai sarana belajar, menyediakan akses terhadap bahan bacaan, serta mendorong peningkatan minat baca secara luas. Tujuan pendampingan untuk mengetahui kendala yang dihadapi oleh pengelola TBM, strategi yang bisa diterapkan untuk mengatasi kendala dan hasil evaluasi dari strategi yang telah diterapkan. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini yaitu Service Learning. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 40 peserta yang terdiri dari orang tua dan anak-anak. Hasil investigasi diketahui bahwa kendala yang dihadapi oleh pengelola yaitu pengunjung yang datang ke TBM masih sedikit karena kurang promosi layanan. Strategi yang bisa diterapkan yaitu melakukan sosialisasi dengan memperkenalkan program pembelajaran digital yaitu aplikasi kipin. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan adanya dampak positif yang ditunjukkan oleh skor rata-rata pada lima aspek, yaitu pemahaman tentang TBM (4,05), kualitas penyampaian sosialisasi (4,18), pemahaman terhadap platform Kipin (4,10), manfaat yang dirasakan (4,32), dan minat berkunjung ke TBM (4,15). Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan sosialisasi efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan, kesadaran, dan minat masyarakat dalam memanfaatkan TBM sebagai sumber belajar.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini membahas tentang penerapan aplikasi Tulib sebagai sarana temu balik informasi elektronik di perpustakaan Daerah Kabupaten Tuban. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberhasilan aplikasi Tulib sebagai sarana temu balik informasi serta efektivitasnya dalam pemenuhan informasi masyarakat kabupaten Tuban. Metode pada penelitian ini menggunakan kualitatif deskriptif dengan data yang diperoleh melalui wawancara pustakawan Tulib serta masyarakat pengguna Tulib yang tersebar diseluruh Kabupaten Tuban. Observasi dengan mengunjungi langsung tempat yang diteliti. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemanfaatan aplikasi Tulib kebanyakan masih diminati oleh sektor pendidikan, tidak sedikit masayarakat umum yang belum memanfaatkan Tulib sebagai media temu balik informasi. Abstract

This study aims to examine the information access process for visually impaired library users at the Braille Corner of the Malang City Library and Archives Office. The information- seeking model used is a combination of approaches by Ellis and Kuhlthau and Wilson, which outlines the stages of information-seeking from uncertainty to understanding. The research findings show that visually impaired users visit Braille Corner for various reasons, such as looking for books or simply the desire to read. In the initial stage, they recognize the need for information and begin searching by utilizing various facilities such as Braille books, smart computers, and talking books. If the information they seek is not found, they tend to ask the librarian or request recommendations for other collections. The information-seeking process involves filtering and selecting relevant information, with further interaction between the users and librarians to verify the accuracy of the information. Users express satisfaction and comfort with the services provided, although sometimes physical and psychological conditions can affect their mood when accessing information. However, librarians face challenges related to infrastructure and facilities that are not yet fully disability-friendly, as well as the need for training for new librarians. This study concludes that although users are satisfied with the facilities and services, there are still several challenges related to infrastructure and human resource development that need to be addressed to improve the quality of information services for visually impaired users at Braille Corner, Malang City Library.
