Abstract

In today's organizational environment, the ability to survive the demands and change is the key to a company's success. However, the main problem faced by companies in implementing change is resistance from their employees although there have been many previous studies that discuss organizational dimensions in increasing employee acceptance. Therefore, this article discusses the relationship of employees' Resistance to Change with Machiavellianism and mediating role of Manifest Needs, which consists of Need for Dominance, Need for Achievement, Need for Autonomy, and Need for Affiliation. Data from 259 employees have been collected from various companies in Indonesia. The results obtained showing that Need for Autonomy significantly mediates the relationship between Resistance to Change and Machiavellianism as well as contributes to the theory while filling the research gap. In addition, this research also discusses recommendations for the future research and limitations associated with this research.

Abstract

Maintaining harmony in social relations, a fundamental value of a collective society, is completely opposed to the dark personality traits that are egocentric and antisocial. This fact has an impact on criticism and increased social pressure for individuals with dark personalities in a collective society, as well as on objective and subjective success. This cross-sectional study was conducted to elucidate the impact of dark personalities on success in a collective society. The results (N = 522) revealed that dark personality traits, particularly narcissism, were the most consistent traits in predicting subjective career success in participants with (n = 273) or without managerial positions (n = 249). Furthermore, participants with and without managerial positions showed no difference in subjective career success. The findings are expected to provide reliable information on the influence of dark personalities on success in a collective society. Keywords: dark personality, narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, career success

Abstract

The role of a leader within an organization is crucial for the company's advancement, especially amidst the rapidly changing dynamics of organizations. However, selecting the right leader often remains a primary challenge. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the influence of communal narcissism on leadership perception and leader selection recommendations within Indonesia's collective culture. This study employs a quasi-experimental method, with student activists as participants. Sampling was conducted using convenience sampling, resulting in a total of 416 samples of student activists. The experimental group (n = 236) was tasked with viewing an interview recording of a leadership candidate exhibiting high communal narcissism. In contrast, the control group (n = 180) watched a video recording of a candidate with low communal narcissism. Subsequently, both groups were required to complete a leadership perception questionnaire and provide leader selection recommendations. Data analysis was performed using Independent Sample T-Tests to ascertain differences between the two groups. The research findings reveal significant differences in leadership perception and recommendations between leadership candidates with high and low levels of communal narcissism. Thus, candidates with high levels of communal narcissism were perceived more positively as leaders and were recommended for leadership positions compared to candidates with low levels of communal narcissism

Abstract

The challenges of implementing new curricula, such as insufficient infrastructure, high parental expectations, and varying levels of teacher quality, have left many early childhood education (PAUD) teachers unprepared for curriculum changes. Teachers often face difficulties adapting to new instructional materials, revising learning plans, updating teaching processes, and aligning assessments with curriculum requirements. Curriculum transitions are a global phenomenon, posing challenges for educators in various contexts. This study explores the influence of self-regulation on PAUD teachers' readiness for curriculum change in Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach with simple linear regression analysis, data were collected from 113 teachers selected through quota sampling based on calculations using the G*Power software (α = 0.05, power = 0.95, effect size f = 0.15). Validated instruments assessed self-regulation and readiness for curriculum change, ensuring cultural and linguistic relevance. Results from SPSS analysis demonstrated a significant positive relationship (p = 0.001, CI: 1.031–1.934) between self-regulation and readiness for curriculum change. Teachers with higher self-regulation exhibited greater adaptability and competence in meeting the demands of curriculum updates. This study highlights the pivotal role of self-regulation in enhancing teacher readiness, enabling educators to address challenges, develop new skills, and align their practices with curriculum requirements. The findings underscore the need for professional development programs to foster self-regulation and institutional support to facilitate smooth transitions during curriculum reforms. Future research should adopt longitudinal designs to explore the dynamic processes of teacher readiness over time and across diverse educational settings.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the influence between machiavellian personality and whistleblowing intentions on whistleblowing behavior in the form of retweets on reporting news threads on Twitter with whistleblower intentions. This research is a quasi-experiment with 154 research participants who actively use the Twitter application. Participants were asked to give a reaction to a thread. Whistleblower behavior is seen from the behavior of participants who retweet and quote retweet the threads sent by the researcher. The results of this study indicate that machiavellian personality does not directly affect whistleblowing behavior in the form of retweets and quote retweets. However, whistleblowing intention has an influence on whistleblowing behavior in the form of retweets and quote retweets. It is suspected that the types of posts that are not directly related to the interests of people with machiavellian personality make them not show whistleblowing behavior.

Abstract

Narcissism refers to a condition in which individuals excessively love themselves, whereas leadership is a process of influencing others to achieve shared goals within a group. This study aims to examine the extent to which narcissism influences perceptions of leadership and the decision to select a leader. It also explores the impact of personality similarity on leadership perceptions and leader selection decisions. The findings reveal differences in leadership perceptions between candidates with high and low levels of narcissism. Leaders with high narcissism are perceived more positively and are more likely to be recommended for leadership positions compared to those with low narcissism. However, the similarity in narcissism between leaders and candidates does not influence the decision to choose a leader. This research addresses the gap in the study of the relationship between narcissism and leadership perceptions in Indonesia, where narcissism is often viewed negatively in the context of leadership. The findings indicate that personality similarity (narcissism) between voters and leadership candidates does not significantly affect voter perceptions or recommendations. Practically, this study demonstrates that narcissism can be a factor in selecting a leader, although personality similarity does not necessarily determine voting decisions.

Abstract

Work stress is a prevalent issue across organizational settings, yet its relationship with dark personality traits remains underexplored in collectivistic culture contexts. This study investigates the impact of narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy on work-related stress among employees in Indonesia. This study employed a quantitative methodology and a cross-sectional design, with 255 employees in Indonesia selected via quota sampling. Data analysis was conducted using the General Linear Model (GLM). The findings indicate that psychopathy positively affects work stress, while Machiavellianism negatively impacts work stress. Narcissism does not have a significant effect on work stress. Marital status influences stress levels, with unmarried employees showing greater vulnerability to stress than those who are married. These results suggest that both Dark Triad personality traits and certain demographic factors contribute to variations in work stress. The study highlights the importance of considering personality and demographic characteristics in recruitment and employee support initiatives. Tailoring stress management strategies to individual profiles may enhance employee well-being and promote greater organizational effectiveness.
