Abstract

Gamolan is a musical instrument made of bamboo that is played by beating so that it produces tones. The tones are distinguished by notes or scales. Gamolan comes from the word begamol, the word begamol in Lampung language is the same as the word begumul in Malay language which means gathering. The research “Cultural Preservation of Gamolan Musical Instruments through the Creation of Gamolan Sakti Songs” aims to explore how traditional songs can be used as a tool to preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Gamolan musical instruments in Lampung. The song created by Hasyim Kan combines traditional elements with modern musical innovations. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The main sources are observation of the process of playing Gamolan musical instruments, learning Gamolan Sakti songs performed by Hasyim Kan, literature studies in libraries, books, national journals and other literature. The results showed that the Gamolan Sakti song has had a positive impact on the youth community in Lampung, especially in strengthening their cultural identity as Lampung people and increasing their pride in local cultural heritage. The song has helped the younger generation develop interest and experience in playing Gamolan musical instruments, as well as raising awareness and appreciation of Gamolan culture in Lampung. Despite the challenges in preserving Gamolan music culture, “Gamolan Sakti” has successfully overcome these challenges and made an impact on the youth community in Lampung. Abstract

Regional art competitions have strategic potential as instruments for developing local art ecosystems, yet in practice they are often reduced to ceremonial, event-oriented agendas. This condition limits their contribution to strengthening artistic creativity and the sustainability of local arts. This study aims to analyze the role of event management workshops in improving the quality of regional art competition management and its impact on artists’ creativity and sustainable local art development in Banyuwangi. The study employs a qualitative descriptive-analytical method with a contextual and interpretative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with art competition organizers, local artists, and workshop facilitators, as well as document analysis of cultural policies and art programs. The findings indicate that event management workshops function as a capacity-building intervention that transforms management paradigms, strengthens strategic planning, curation systems, and stakeholder networking. Professionally managed art competitions create conducive environments for creative experimentation, reflective learning, and the sustainability of local artistic practices. This study concludes that strengthening managerial capacity through event management workshops is a key strategy for transforming regional art competitions into sustainable instruments for local art ecosystem development.

Abstract

Music arts learning in junior high school plays an important role in developing students’ musical skills and social attitudes through ensemble activities. However, local culture–based ensemble learning, particularly patrol music, still faces limitations in the availability of structured, contextual, and easily accessible teaching materials. As a result, the practice process is suboptimal and does not fully support the gradual development of ensemble performance skills. This study employed a research and development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, comprising analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects were 155 ninth-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Sedati. Data were collected through expert validation (material, language, and media), teacher and student response questionnaires, learning outcome tests (pretest and posttest), and observations of ensemble performance skills. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative techniques, including feasibility and practicality percentages and N-gain analysis. The interactive patrol music e-book was found to be very feasible, with validation scores of 92% from material experts, 92% from language experts, and 94% from media experts. The practicality of the e-book was rated very practical, as shown by teacher response scores of 96.25% and student response scores of 94.35%. The effectiveness of the e-book was demonstrated by an improvement in learning outcomes, with an N-gain value of 0.56 (moderate category), as well as the achievement of ensemble performance skills with an average score of 88.28%, categorized as very good. The developed interactive patrol music e-book has been proven feasible, practical, and effective as a music arts learning medium for improving junior high school students’ understanding and ensemble performance skills grounded in local culture.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the creative application of music education through the integration of musical literacy—encompassing media use and teaching strategies—into activities that foster emotional intelligence among kindergarten children at PPPK Petra. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected in the form of verbal data and visual documentation through direct classroom observations of children during music learning activities, interviews with music teachers and homeroom teachers, and interviews with parents. The data were analyzed through three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that music education integrating two paradigms—education about music and education through music—can create interactive and meaningful learning experiences. Children not only acquire a basic understanding of rhythm, pitch, and musical symbols, but also apply this understanding in activities that foster self-motivation, empathy, and collaborative skills. These findings confirm that the integration of musical literacy with emotional development is effective, as children learn through direct, contextual, and collaborative experiences. In conclusion, creative and comprehensive music education contributes not only to students’ cognitive development but also to the formation of positive behaviors and character, serving as essential preparation for their future lives.
