Abstract

Since long time ago, Indonesia has had a comparative advantage because of its geographical advantage in spice commodities. In the era of liberalization, in order to be competitive in the same industry, Indonesian spice commodities must increase their export share by having a distinct advantage compared to competitors from other countries. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the effect of Indonesia's trade liberalization based on competitiveness with competing countries and the level of competition for Indonesian spice commodities in the international market. The analytical methods used are Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA), Export Similarity Index (ESI), and Export Overlapping Index (IEO) which are discussed descriptively using secondary data from UNComtrade for 1989-2021. Trade liberalization is indicated by Indonesia's entry into the WTO, AFTA and ACFTA. The results of the analysis show that even though Indonesia has very strong competitiveness, the existence of trade liberalization is not enough to increase Indonesia's competitiveness because the international market is increasingly open. The level of competition for Indonesian spice exports with its competitor countries tends to decrease. The existence of trade liberalization makes each country increase its trade specialization in order to expand its market share. Indonesia needs to improve quality as well as standardize and increase differentiation for spice products in order to maintain and expand its market share so that it can be competitive in the international market.

Abstract

Green products have received worldwide attention as an alternative to more environmentally responsible consumption. Even though the environmental sustainability of green products is crucial, more research is still needed to determine the factors influencing consumer purchasing behavior for green products in developing nations, particularly Indonesia. Using the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB), this study investigates the psychological aspects that influence green behavior. It is believed that attitude, perceived behavioral control (PBC), and subjective norm all substantially impact a consumer's decision to purchase a green product. Subjective norm is the influence of people surrounding the respondent, while PBC is the respondent's perspective about their ability to perform certain actions. The research was conducted in 2023 using an online survey. Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was used to analyze the data of 228 respondents using SmartPLS 3. The results show that attitudes and PBC significantly influence green consumption behavior. However, they show small predicting powers towards the intention. The subjective norm does not directly influence how behavior is formed but directly impacts how customers' attitudes are formed. The research results provide practical implications for the government and marketers to hold a special exhibition for green products and create labeling to improve the accessibility of green consumption. At the same time, the government can contribute to supporting green consumption by labeling pro-environmental products. This research still uses the basic variables of the TPB, where many researchers can add other variables that have the potential to influence a person's intention to take an action.

Abstract

Food waste has become a serious concern due to the environmental damage and financial losses it causes. Leftover food at the consumption stage is a direct consequence of consumer buying behavior. The aim of the study to determine the behavior of food waste at the household level in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Data of 203 respondents were obtained from online and offline surveys and analyzed descriptively. The findings show that households have a very positive attitude (84.66%) to avoid food waste supported by a good level of knowledge (75.88%) and a level of food management skills which is included in the high category (74.66%). The level of household eating and shopping habits that support food waste is in the medium category (51.69%). These findings have practical implications for efforts to reduce household waste by increasing positive evaluation and skills in food management

Abstract

This research aims to see the influence of environmental awareness and quality benefits consumers feel on willingness to pay more. Data from 228 respondents was collected through an online survey to fill out a structured questionnaire. The PLS-SEM approach was used in data analysis. The results of the study show that both environmental awareness and perceived quality-benefit have a significant positive influence on consumers' willingness to pay more for green products. The policy implication that can be recommended is to normalize premium prices for pro-environmental products by optimizing marketing communications.

Abstract

Post-harvest products are perishable and vulnerable to diseases that lead to quality deterioration and yield loss. One of the primary diseases found in most post-harvest products is caused by fungal pathogens. This study identified fungal pathogens associated with post-harvest products through morphological characterization. Fruit and vegetable samples were collected from traditional markets and fruit stores in Central Java. The results of fungal pathogens identification causing disease on post-harvest products showed that Pestalotiopsis sp and Neopestalotiopsis sp. were found on guava with white blackish mycelium, present concentric ring and blackspot, Aspergillus sp. on tomato with yellow-greenish mycelium, present concentric ring only, Botrytis sp. with grey mycelium and Rhizoctonia solani with white greyish mycelium and present of a concentric ring on apple, Rhizoctonia solani with greyish black and present of blackspot on mango, and Colletotrichum sp. with white greyish mycelium and present of a concentric ring, conidiomata and blackspot on citrus. This study concluded that the most fungal pathogens on post-harvest that we found were Pestaloptia sp., Rhizoctonia solani, Aspergillus sp., Botrytis sp., and Colletotrichum sp.

Abstract

Coffee marketing by members of Gapoktan Mugi Lestari is currently still limited to offline, so it has a limited market share and is less well-known by the wider community. Coffee, as a commodity with high demand, has a wider market opportunity. This community service activity aims to increase the understanding of farmer group members about the importance of effective online marketing and introducing environmentally friendly packaging as an added value. The activity was carried out at Gapoktan Mugi Lestari, Temanggung, using lecture, discussion, and digital marketing practice methods using Shopee. The level of understanding and knowledge of members was evaluated through pre-tests and post-tests, which showed a significant increase from 63% to 85%, which was analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test. The members' enthusiasm was very good because this activity could open up wider marketing opportunities and improve the household economy. In the future, the activity is expected to help with business licensing, assistance in standardizing coffee product quality, and managing certification, as well as training and counseling on digital marketing strategies. In addition, support is needed from the local government regarding the development of digital infrastructure in agricultural areas as well as digital literacy training, and the provision of subsidies or incentives for farmers who use environmentally friendly packaging. Abstract

Abstract: This study investigates the motives behind organic food consumption and examines the relationship between warm glow and altruism. Data were collected from 219 respondents through a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed descriptively. The findings reveal that altruistic motives consistently outweigh egoistic motives among consumers, regardless of whether the products were purchased online or offline. Additionally, the warm glow effect demonstrates a positive correlation with altruism, providing added emotional benefits to pro-environmental and pro-social behaviors. These results suggest that incorporating emotional experiences into organic product marketing strategies can enhance consumer engagement and drive sustainable consumption.

Abstract

Food waste's negative effects on the environment and monetary losses have made it a major concern. Food waste at the consuming stage has been directly affected by customer purchasing behaviour. Moreover, the majority of food waste happens within households. This means examining the reasons behind household food waste behaviour is a potential safeguard against food waste issues. This research aimed to analyze household food waste behavior in the Special Region of Yogyakarta after the COVID-19 pandemic. This study was conducted with a questionnaire survey from June to July 2023 to households in the Yogyakarta Special Region. Data was collected purposively using online and offline methods simultaneously. A total of 245 responses were obtained, and 203 were valid for use. Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was used as the analytical method. The research results showed that psychological factors such as attitudes, perceived behavioral control, emotions, moral beliefs, and knowledge about food management influenced households' intentions to reduce food waste. By examining the factors that affect food waste, it is hoped that this research will advance our understanding of trends in food waste behavior at the household consumer level in developing nations.
