Abstract

Abstract

The Sumpiuh organic farmers association (Gatos) was a group of farmers committed to cultivating organic rice in Sumpiuh Village, Banyumas Regency. The group was established in 2021 at the initiative of the Sumpiuh Village Head, recognizing the potential market and development opportunities for organic rice in the region. However, the development of organic rice farming in Sumpiuh faced several challenges, including farmers' limited knowledge, the availability of organic fertilizers, and suboptimal product marketing. This community service activity was conducted to identify key issues and design solutions for organic rice cultivation through a participatory approach. The approach utilized was participatory rural appraisal conducted through focus group discussions. Results: The identified issues included land availability, community participation, access to organic farming inputs, and organic rice marketing. The planned activities involved the development of organic rice demonstration plots, organic certification training, and improvements in packaging and digital marketing. Abstract

The Gatos Farmers Group in Sumpiuh Village, Banyumas District, has consistently cultivated organic rice over the past two years. This initiative was driven by awareness of the negative impacts of conventional rice farming, particularly the use of chemical inputs, on both the environment and human health. As part of the support provided to the organic rice cultivation efforts of the Gatos Farmers Group, this community service program involved organic pesticide production training and pratice, aimed to enhance farmers' knowledge and equip them with technical skills to produce organic pesticides using natural materials readily available in their surroundings. The training began with participatory planning, followed by lectures on the subject, and continued with hands-on practice in making organic pesticides. The training successfully improved farmers' knowledge of organic pesticides, as evidenced by the increase in post-test scores compared to pre-test scores, further validated through statistical testing using a paired sample t-test. Post-training monitoring indicates that members of the Gatos Farmers Group have adopted organic pesticide production and applied it to their rice farming.

Abstract

The absence of quality spending become the main reason for government failed to provide multiplier in achieving its economic objectives. The phenomenon of budgetary slack will be likely to occur if there is no any standard to control government expenditure's success. This study aims to provide a method to identify the effectiveness of government budget by Comparing Sustainable Development Indicators as outcome and government expenditure relative to its economy as output. We also measure the rasio of government expenditure to its revenue sources as indicators of budget efficiency. Using 2021 data of SDGs indicators and government budget (both at central and regional or province government level) we found that both at the national and regional levels, the spending had been quite effective. Meanwhile for the level of budget efficiency, the central government is quite efficient, while some of regional governments were not.
