Abstract

Intensive care unit (ICU) noise has been a longstanding issue, but noise levels exceeding the recommended range impact patients and staff. Nurses who experience alarm fatigue endanger patient safety because it can cause death due to ignoring emergency alarms. This study aims to determine between alarm fatigue and noise sensitivity nurses in critical care units. This study's design was a quantitative study with a cross-sectional with the method of total sampling. The alarm fatigues section was used to gather the data, The instrument developed by Torabizadeh et al. consists of 19 substances, with noise sensitivity assessed through an adaptation within Weinstein's noise sensitivity scale (WNS). Univariate analysis uses descriptive analysis, and bivariate analysis uses Spearman correlation. The exam revealed a strong correlation between noise sensitivity and nurses' alarm fatigue (p-value = 0.000; p-value <α; α = 0.05). Furthermore, the findings of this study also revealed correlation coefficient value of 0.780. Subjective evaluations suggest that increased noise levels in ICUs cause irritation, potentially leading to higher stress, decreased well-being, and lower performance. However, empirical data with objective and physiological measures are needed.

Abstract

Abstract

Background: Self-efficacy is a crucial factor in the success of therapy and self-care among haemodialysis patients. The quality of vascular access care, particularly in users of double lumen catheters, significantly affects therapy effectiveness and is prone to complications such as thrombosis, which may lead to vascular access loss in 30–40% of patients. Approximately 60% of cases show suboptimal haemodialysis therapy. Studies examining the relationship between self-efficacy and vascular access care quality remain limited in patients using double lumen catheters.Purpose: This study aimed to analyse the relationship between self-efficacy and vascular access care quality in haemodialysis patients with double lumen catheters at Hospital. Methods: A descriptive correlational study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted on 60 purposively selected respondents. The CKD-SE and SF-VAQ questionnaires were used as instruments. Data were analysed using the Spearman Rank test. Results: A significant positive correlation was found between self-efficacy and vascular access care quality (p = 0.000; r = 0.620). Most respondents (68.3%) had moderate self-efficacy (mean 65.49 ± 4.755), and 31.7% had high self-efficacy (mean 85.26 ± 4.121). The quality of vascular access care was moderate in 50% and good in 43.3% of respondents (means 49.40 ± 5.001 and 70.00 ± 5.713, respectively). Conclusion: Patients with high self-efficacy generally provide better vascular access care, supporting the success of haemodialysis. Thus, nursing interventions should aim to enhance self-efficacy to improve care quality in patients with double lumen catheters.

Abstract

Grubintervensinya diberi SSBM selama tujuh hari, sedangkan kelompok kontrol mendapatkan perawatan standar.Tekanan darahnya ditinjau melalui sphygmomanometer digital terkalibrasi. Perolehan studi memperlihatkanpenurunan bersignifikan tekanan darah sistolic juga diastolic di grub intervensi dibanding grub kontrolnya(p<0,05). SSBM ternyatakan tepat membuat tensi darah menurun untuk klien stroke lalu dapat diterapkansebagai intervensi keperawatan non farmakologis pada jasa medis primer.

Abstract

Background: Family involvement is essential in the care of critically ill patients, particularly in preventing and managing conditions such as delirium. However, limited knowledge among family caregivers often hinders effective participation. Audiovisual-based health education has emerged as a promising strategy to enhance understanding through engaging and accessible learning modalities. Objective: This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of audiovisual-based health education in improving knowledge among family caregivers of intensive care unit (ICU) patients. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a pre-test–post-test control group design was conducted involving 72 participants. Respondents were assigned to either an intervention group receiving audiovisual-based education or a control group receiving standard care. Knowledge levels were measured using a structured questionnaire before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test for within-group comparisons and the Mann–Whitney U test for between-group differences. Results: The intervention group demonstrated a significant increase in knowledge scores from 7.86 ± 2.55 to 16.19 ± 3.46 (Z = 4.949, p < 0.001), indicating a large effect size (r = 0.70). In contrast, the control group showed a non-significant improvement from 4.56 ± 1.78 to 6.28 ± 2.19 (Z = 1.732, p > 0.05). Between-group analysis revealed a significantly greater improvement in the intervention group (Δ = 8.33) compared to the control group (Δ = 1.72) (Z = 7.062, p < 0.001; r = 0.99). Conclusion: Audiovisual-based health education is highly effective in improving caregiver knowledge and represents a practical, scalable strategy for enhancing family engagement in ICU care. Abstract

BACKGROUND: Coronary heart disease can cause psychological impacts in the form of depression which, if not managed optimally, can worsen the patient's condition. One of the psychosocial factors that cause depression is low social support. Social support can strengthen individual coping with the acceptance of disease conditions in patients. AIMS: This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and depression in coronary heart disease patients at the Heart Installation of Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang. METHODS: This research is a descriptive quantitative correlation with a cross sectional approach. The research sample amounted to 39 respondents calculated by the Isaac and Michael formula with the sampling technique using accidental sampling. The research instruments used were Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) to assess social support and Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II) to assess depression. RESULTS: The results of the Pearson Product Moment test showed a highly significant correlation between social support and depression (p = 0.000) with a value of r = -0.756 indicating a strong level of correlation with a negative correlation direction. CONCLUSION: The correlation between the two variables is strong and inversely proportional where the higher the social support received, the more depressive symptoms experienced will decrease. Family education is needed to maintain and increase social support to prevent and reduce depression in coronary heart disease patients.
