Abstract

Kersen Flower (Muntingia calabura L.) contains several chemical compounds, including flavonoids, tannins, triterpene, saponins and polyphenols that play a role in antioxidant activity. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity and determine the antioxidant activity value of ethanol extract Muntingia Flower (Muntingia calabura L.) using FRAP (Ferry Reducing Antioxidant Power) method. Extraction was done using maceration method and measurement was done using UV-Vis spectrophotometry method at wavelength of 715 nm. The comparator used was quercetin. The results showed that the concentration of antioxidant activity Muntingia Flower using FRAP method was 684.209 mgQE/g which showed high activity.

Abstract

Free radicals are atoms, molecules or compounds that can stand alone, having one or more unpaired electrons in their outermost orbitals. Antioxidants are molecules that are able to deactivate or stabilize free radicals. The kebo rubber leaf plant is known to have benefits as an antioxidant because it contains ingredients such as glycosides, flavonoids, phenolic acids, alkaloids, steroids, saponins, coumarins, tannins, and triterpenoids. The aim of this research was to test the antioxidant activity of the ethyl acetate fraction of kebo rubber leaves (Ficus elatica) using the FRAP (Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power) method. The rubber kebo leaf extraction method uses the maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. The ethanol extract was fractionated using the liquid-liquid partition method to obtain the ethyl acetate fraction. the sample fraction was added with several FRAP reagents and then measured using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer at a maximum wavelength of 712 nm with quercetin as a comparison. The results showed that the ethyl acetate fraction of kebo rubber leaves for antioxidant activity was 26.692 mgQE/g fraction.

Abstract

The cherry tree is one of the plants that has great potential to be utilized because it contains several beneficial bioactive compounds, one of which is flavonoids.. The purpose of this research is to determine the alpha-glucosidase enzyme inhibition activity of an ethanol extract of cherry blossoms (Muntingia calabura L.) in vitro using a microplate reader instrument. The research method begins with preparing the sample by maceration using 96% ethanol as a solvent, followed by testing the inhibition of alpha-glucosidase enzyme activity using p-nitrophenyl- α-D-glucopyranoside (PNPG) substrate and acarbose as a comparison. The potential of a compound to inhibit enzyme activity can be determined by calculating the IC50. The results showed that the ethanol extract of cherry blossoms (Muntingia calabura L.) has an IC50 value of 135.53 µg/mL, higher than the IC50 value of acarbose at 41.17 µg/mL.

Abstract

. Cocoa leaves (Theobroma cacao L.) contain secondary metabolites such as polyphenol compounds, flavanoids, saponins and tannins which are the largest group of phenolic compounds that act as antioxidant compounds. This study aims to determine the levels of polyphenolic compounds produced from cocoa leaf tea preparations (Theobroma cacao L.) based on the comparison of growing places, namely the Wajo, Jeneponto and Malino regions. Quantitative analysis using UV-Vis spectrophotometric method. based on qualitative analysis by Thin Layer Chromatography method using mobile phase n- hexanes: ethyl acetate: methanol with a ratio (2: 7: 2). Based on the results showed that the preparation of cocoa leaf tea (Theobroma cacao L.). As well as quantitative analysis measured at a maximum wavelength of 768 nm with gallic acid comparator standard. Tea samples contain polyphenolic compounds based on the Rf value equivalent to gallic acid comparator of 0.6. based on the analysis of levels from the Wajo area of 16.238 mgGAE/g, Jeneponto area 18.102 mg/GAE/g, and Malino area 6, 752 mgGAE/g and rf value of gallic acid comparator 0.630; rf value of samples from Jeneponto area 0.6; Wajo 0.6 and Malino 0.615. From the above results, it can be concluded that there are polyphenol compounds in tea samples from each region and the largest polyphenol content is found in the Jeneponto area.

Abstract

Bajakah tampala (Spatholobus littoralis Hassk.) is a plant that lives on vines in tropical areas. This plant comes from Sebuku Village, North Kalimantan. The Bajakah Tampala plant contains saponins, flavonoids and tannins. The roots of the Bajakah Tampala plant are thought to have strong antioxidant activity which is able to reduce the activity of free radicals. The aim of this research is to analyze the antioxidant activity of Bajakah Tampala roots using the DPPH reduction method using a UV Vis spectrophotometer which is based on calculating the IC50 value. The results of this study indicate that the ethanol extract of Bajakah Tampala roots has antioxidant activity against DPPH free radicals with an IC50 value of 9.206 µg/mL. which is included in the group of very strong antioxidants.

ZHAFIRA ANGGRAINI MONDO. Comparison of Phenolic Content of Rubber Kebo (Ficus elastica) Leaf Extract Results from Multilevel Extraction Using the UV-Vis Spectrophotometry Method (Supervised by Asriani Suhaenah and Masdiana Tahir). The kebo rubber plant (Ficus elastica) is used by Indonesian people as traditional medicine, namely medicine to lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, stroke, and reduce joint pain. Kebo rubber leaves (Ficus elastica) contain secondary metabolites such as saponins, polyphenols, flavonoids and tannins. This research aims to determine the comparison of phenolic compound levels of kebo rubber leaf extract (Ficus elastica) resulting from multilevel extraction using the UV-vis spectrophotometric method. The extraction process uses 3 different types of solvents, namely n-hexane (nonpolar), ethyl acetate (semipolar) and ethanol (polar) using a sonicator. Determination of phenolic content using the UV-Vis spectrophotometric method, with a maximum wavelength of 772 nm and using gallic acid as a comparison. The results showed that the levels were influenced by the solvent used in comparing the phenolic compound levels of kebo rubber leaf extract (Ficus elastica) with the multilevel extraction method, namely n-hexane extract 3,774 mgGAE/g, ethyl acetate extract 12,696 mgGAE/g, ethanol extract 74,396 mgGAE/g g.
