Improving the quality of education cannot be done partially, but must be comprehensive and sustainable. This research aimed to investigate engine lecturers’ achievement for academic quality improvement at Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran (PIP) Makassar. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study research type and descriptive using primary and secondary data from ten informants in the engineering study program. The research results show that the achievement of lecturers significantly impacts the enhancement of academic quality. Those are essential components of the education and teaching process, contributing to research and scientific advancement. Lecturer achievement include teaching effectiveness, research output, and contribution to the academic community. Hence, a lecturer must perform at their best to generate professional and high-quality outcomes. The academic excellence achieved by lecturers is evident in the quality of graduates and the success of alumni, which indicates the education's quality. In conclusion that lecturers' accomplishments have a substantial influence on improving academic quality through teaching methods, research and scientific progress, teaching efficiency, research outcomes, and involvement in the academic achievement that is demonstrated through the quality of graduates.

The type of research is a survey. The location is at the Barombong Maritime Polytechnic campus, Makassar, South Sulawesi. The population is 204 people. A sample of 51 people was drawn using a purposive random sampling technique. Data collection techniques: questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques: frequency tables, simple linear regression, and multiple regression. Conclusions of the study: (1) character building, worship discipline, worship motivation, and worship behavior in cadets of the Barombong Maritime Polytechnic, Makassar, South Sulawesi are categorized as moderate or need to be improved in worship activities as a Muslim, (2) character building, worship discipline, and worship motivation have a good effect both individually and together on worship behavior in cadets of the Barombong Maritime Polytechnic, Makassar, South Sulawesi. Character building, discipline, and motivation in worship according to Islamic teachings help cadets to behave positively and avoid negative behavior. Cadets will realize that committing sins will bring bad consequences, both in the world and in the hereafter. This can motivate cadets to avoid behavior that is detrimental to themselves and others. One of the efforts to improve character building, discipline, and motivation of cadets, Barombong Maritime Polytechnic has formed a character building center for cadets and students in the form of a permanent daily command (PHST) for cadets. Implications of the study: (1) factors of character building, worship discipline, and worship motivation were found to influence the worship behavior of Barombong Maritime Polytechnic cadets. Therefore, it is necessary to get attention from leaders, lecturers, instructors, and cadet mentors so that the worship behavior of cadets can be further improved, (2) participation of parents and families is very necessary, especially when cadets are on cruises so that they continue to pay attention to worship behavior when at home, and (3) the factors studied in this study are still limited. Therefore, it is necessary to continue to study other factors that are different from this study.

This article aims to provide an understanding of children's rights and protection from an Islamic perspective. Specifically about how to fulfill children's needs. Welfare is a condition where all a person's life needs can be fulfilled and can achieve satisfaction. Children are the ones whose welfare must be taken into account, whether it is physical welfare, inner welfare, or social welfare because children are individuals who will carry on their dreams. -the ideals of the nation and becoming the next generation of a country. Currently, the condition of children in Indonesia still needs to be addressed by the government and other parties because their welfare is problematic. There are many things that cause children's needs and rights to not be met, Fulfilling the rights of children who are deprived of them because they have to work and the influence of the psychosocial conditions of children when they work will affect the child's growth and development process. Islam views children as expensive gifts with sacred status. This expensive gift is a trust that must be guarded and protected by parents in particular, because children are assets of parents and assets of the nation. Islam has paid great attention to the protection of children. Protection in Islam includes physical, psychological, intellectual, moral, economic and others. This is explained in the form of fulfilling all their rights, guaranteeing their food and clothing needs, maintaining their good name and dignity, maintaining their health, choosing good friends to associate with, avoiding violence, and so on.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pelaksanaan perawatan sekoci di kapal MV. Sakti dan mengevaluasi kesesuaiannya dengan prosedur yang tercantum dalam International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) 1974. Jenis data yang digunakan adalah data kualitatif, yang diperoleh melalui observasi langsung, studi pustaka, dan wawancara dengan awak kapal. Penelitian ini dilakukan selama praktik berlayar (Prala) selama kurang lebih 10 bulan, terhitung sejak tanggal 10 Desember 2020 hingga 10 September 2022, saat penulis bertugas di atas MV. Sakti. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif, dengan fokus pada evaluasi perawatan dan pengoperasian sekoci sebagai salah satu alat keselamatan utama di atas kapal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kegiatan lifeboat drill di MV. Sakti belum sepenuhnya dilaksanakan sesuai dengan ketentuan SOLAS 1974. Selain itu, kegiatan perawatan seperti pemberian pelumas (grease) dan penghilangan karat belum dilakukan secara menyeluruh terhadap seluruh komponen sekoci. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan ditemukannya karat pada bagian hook plate sekoci, yang berdampak pada penurunan kinerja sekoci dalam keadaan darurat. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya pemeliharaan berkala dan pelaksanaan latihan sekoci secara rutin guna menjamin keselamatan pelayaran dan kepatuhan terhadap regulasi internasional.

The arrival of Islam in Maluku and North Maluku took place at almost the same time. However, the process of institutionalizing Islam in governmental life has only materialized in the following decades or perhaps hundreds of years. The arrival of Islam in Maluku is part of recording the traces of a new civilization that entered Maluku, at least it can be traced through the records of travelers. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran bagaimana penerapan optimalisasi perawatan Life boat di kapal MV Meratus Kampar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan Ketika peneliti melaksanakan praktek laut di atas kapal MV. Meratus Kampar, selama kurang lebih 12 bulan 0 hari, yaitu sejak tanggal 21 desember 2021 s/d 21 desember 2022 Jenis penelitian adalah kualitatif, sumber melalui wawancara terhadap mualim I, Mualim II dan Mualim III di MV. Muara Mas, data juga diambil dari observasi langsung saat peneliti melaksankan praktek di atas kapal. Hasil dari penelitian menyoroti kekurangan pemahaman mendalam mengenai prosedur perawatan tersebut, awak kapal dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan mereka tentang perawatan sekoci di kapal, sehingga dapat mengurangi potensi gangguan keselamatan jiwa.

This study aims to analyze the level of crew skills in handling fire emergency situations and to evaluate the effectiveness of fire drill implementation on board KM. Radhika Pangestu in order to improve maritime safety. A qualitative descriptive method was used, with data collected through direct observation during fire drill exercises and structured interviews with eight ship officers, including the Master, Chief Officer, Second Officer, Third Officer, Chief Engineer, and First, Second, and Third Engineers. The results indicate that the ship's officers demonstrate a good level of understanding of fire emergency procedures in accordance with SOLAS Convention and ISM Code standards. However, gaps were identified in terms of technical skills in operating firefighting equipment and mental readiness during emergency simulations. In one observed fire drill, a helmsman failed to effectively operate a foam-type APAR, resulting in a 15-minute delay beyond the standard 5-minute target. These findings emphasize the need for enhanced training quality, more realistic drill scenarios, and continuous evaluation to improve crew preparedness and maritime safety.

Fire safety is a critical component of maritime operations, particularly in preventing and controlling onboard fire incidents that may endanger crew, cargo, and vessel integrity. One of the primary tools used during the initial stage of firefighting is the portable fire extinguisher (PFE), although its effectiveness depends heavily on proper maintenance and operational readiness. This study analyzes constraints in PFE maintenance onboard MV. HMT Fortune and evaluates their implications for ship safety, using a qualitative approach through observation and interviews with the Master and Third Officer. The findings show that although PFE availability is adequate, several issues persist, including damaged seals, reduced pressure, outdated inspection labels, poor cleanliness, and improper placement, alongside limited port time, suboptimal documentation, and insufficient crew training. These constraints are categorized into technical, operational, managerial, and human factors. This study aims to identify the efforts that can be undertaken to prevent work accidents onboard merchant vessels, using MV. SIAM as a case study. A qualitative case-study approach was applied, with primary data collected through direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation during the author's sea practice (PRALA) from 8 April 2024 to 22 April 2025 in the Red Sea and Arabian Sea. Data were analysed descriptively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings show that the work accident experienced by a Boatswain, caused by a rebounding cutting disc while operating a portable grinder, resulted from a combination of individual negligence in pre-use equipment inspection, non-compliant use of personal protective equipment, unfit equipment condition, and weak on-site supervision. Continuous safety training, routine equipment inspection, strict enforcement of personal protective equipment use, and a transparent incident-reporting system are required to address these issues. Strengthening a consistent safety culture is expected to minimise the risk of work accidents and to sustain maritime safety onboard MV. SIAM.
