Abstract

Indonesia has implemented online learning as part of its education reforms in an effort to contain the spread of the Covid – 19 virus. Study participants' perceptions of online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic are examined in this research. It was a descriptive quantitative study. Questionnaires (Google forms) and in-depth interviews were used to collect data. One hundred fifty-five cadets responded to the survey. Covid–19 pandemic showed that the cadets had an excellent view of online learning. Amid this pandemic, they discovered that online learning was helpful but not entirely efficient. Online learning by lecturers was effective, efficient, varied, helped cadets understand the material, independent learning, and increased students' involvement in learning activities. Additionally, this study gathered information from students in the form of constructive feedback on how to improve online learning. Covid – 19 pandemic cadets also discovered a number of obstacles related to online learning, such as barriers to students' accessing online learning platforms. In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, the need for further research into the extent of the digital divide is necessitated by this study.

Abstract

There have been various conceptualizations about the implementation of task-based language teaching (TBLT) in the context of English language teaching. TBLT has been proposed as a potentially efficacious approach for instructing English as a second language (ESL) in Asian settings, such as Indonesia. The present study aimed to investigate the optimal implementation of TBLT for higher education students in ESP classrooms. A cohort comprising seventy ESP students pursuing a degree in the Accounting Study Program participated as research subjects. This research used a descriptive quantitative research method. The results show that the implementation of TBLT into the teaching of speaking skills resulted in beneficial result concerning students in ESP classrooms. The findings of this study indicate a statistically significant increase in the mean scores of oral English proficiencies among students enrolled in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses, as seen by the comparison between pretest and post-test scores. This study can be implemented by providing opportunities for students to engage in spoken language practice rather than learning sessions primarily focused on the explicit instruction of grammatical rules and ESP students’ comprehensibility. This study can be applied in TBLT approach in the ESP classroom setting for comprehensibility in EFL students' oral English.

Abstract

This research aimed to evaluate the management of lecturer performance, the lecturers' performance improves the academic quality, and the academic quality results from the performance of lecturers at Politeknik Ilmu Pelayaran (PIP) Makassar. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study research type and descriptive using primary and secondary data from ten informants in the engineering study program. The research results show that lecturer performance assessment management has three main tasks, namely education, research and community service. The development of a university is largely determined by the quality of the human resources. Lecturer performance plays a very important role in improving the academic quality of higher education as the main pillar in the education and teaching process, as well as playing a role in research and scientific development. Stages of lecturer performance (ability to design learning/RPS, mastery of courses, methods). Stages of education quality (process, infrastructure, learning media, activities in learning). Research publications and PKM were routine in conducting research and publications, where research publications contribute the development of science and support the growth of knowledge in the field of study. It can be concluded that a lecturer is required to perform optimally so as to create professional and high-quality productivity results on the lecturer's performance as seen from the output, namely quality graduates, the success of alumni reflects the quality of education received by the lecturer. As a recommendation for lecturers to improve the academic reputation quality of the institution and help strengthen scientific contributions in publications.
