Abstract

Rekomendasi waktu penanaman mangrove terbaik yaitu pada kondisi kecepatan arus terendah yaitu pada Musim Peralihan I.Kata kunci : Musim Peralihan I, Penanaman mangrove, Pulau Dompak, OseanografiABSTRACTDegradation of mangroves causes many losses both in terms of management of environmental services and financially. Mangrove planting is a restoration to save decreasing areas of mangrove. Oceanography is a determining factor for increasing success in mangrove ecosystem restoration activities. Dompak Island is listed as an area of the Riau Archipelago Province with a relatively wide area of mangrove ecosystem cover but a relatively high level of utilization. This research aims to recommend the best time for planting mangroves by conducting a study of oceanographic characteristics. The method used in this study is in the form of mapping data on oceanographic characteristics and descriptive analysis. The results obtained for the four oceanographic parameters, namely temperature, salinity, currents, and tides each show not too significant changes and classified as good for planting mangroves. The recommendation for the best time to plant mangroves is at the lowest current velocity, namely during the Transitional Season I.Keyword : Dompak island, Planting mangrove, Oceanography, Transitional Season I

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Kuala Tungkal, Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency, Jambi Province, to address the challenges faced by fishermen in identifying potential fishing grounds. The primary focus was creating a map of potential fishing grounds based on oceanographic data to enhance the efficiency and productivity of fishermen. The methods included collecting oceanographic data, satellite imagery, and performing geospatial analysis using ArcGIS 10.8 software to predict and map the potential fishing grounds. Training sessions were held to teach fishermen how to use GPS and fishing ground maps, enabling them to predict and navigate fishing locations more effectively. This activity was carried out by involving several participations; fishermen, local government, and Fisheries Service of Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency. The map produced by the team depicts strategic locations in the waters of Kuala Tungkal (FMA 711) based on sea surface temperature (SST) and chlorophyll-a indicators. There are 105,633 potential fishing points being identified in this area. SST values range from 28.2°C to 32°C, and chlorophyll-a values range from 0.2 mg/m³ to 2 mg/m³.  The training outcomes demonstrated that most fishermen could effectively use GPS and the fishing ground map during fishing operations. The active participation of fishermen and the provision of technology training is pivotal in the program’s success. Consequently, the utilization of potential fishing ground maps based on oceanographic data has the potential to enhance fishermen's performance and contribute to sustainable fisheries resource management in the FMA 711 area.

Abstract

Grouper (Epinephelus Sp.) is an economically important fish that lives in coral reefs and is widely consumed by the public. It is necessary to analyze the relationship between the length and weight of fish at the Kaliadem fish landing site and Muara Angke market. This research aims to determine the relationship between length and weight of fish. Data on the length and weight of the fish were taken from a sample of 20 grouper fish sold at the two locations. This Research was carried out in April 2018. This study used survey method, observation of grouper morphology. The analysis used in this research uses multiple linear regression analysis. The research showed that grouper fish had a length range of 128 mm – 169 mm and a weight range of 31 g – 65 g with an average length of 144.5 mm and an average weight of 42.75. The results of linear regression on the relationship between the length and weight of grouper fish samples produced a regression equation Y = 2.7424x – 9.8972 with a value of b = 2.74 and a coefficient of determination of 0.9281. significant b < 3 means the allomatric growth pattern is negative and 98.97% of changes in fish weight occur due to an increase in fish length, while 1.03% is caused by other factors. It can be concluded that length growth is faster than weight gain in grouper fish. The condition factor value of the grouper this research had a Fulton condition factor value (K) ranging from 2.95 to 3.17 and a relative weight (Wr) ranging from 86.50 to 106.41 with an average Wr value of 100.31.

Abstract

Supply management is a critical component in hand line fishing vessel operations lasting 10–20 days at sea, as it directly affects operational cost efficiency and catch quality. This study aimed to identify and analyze the supply management system of hand line vessels at Bungus Oceanic Fishing Port, covering procurement, storage, maintenance, and control stages, as well as identifying the main constraints faced by fishers. A descriptive method with a qualitative approach was employed through observation and purposive interviews involving captains, crew members, vessel owners, port officers, and logistics suppliers from October to December 2023. The results indicate that the supply management system has been relatively well-structured; procurement is based on estimated trip duration and crew size with an average cost of IDR 25–30 million per trip for 24–30 GT vessels, storage is organized by categorizing wet, dry, and high-demand goods, maintenance includes ice protection, freshwater monitoring, and controlled daily consumption, while control mechanisms involve daily recording, usage limitation of high-demand items, and post-trip evaluation of remaining supplies. The main challenges include limited storage space on smaller vessels and the absence of standardized supply requirements based on vessel tonnage and trip duration. Overall, the supply management system is considered adequate but remains experience-based, highlighting the need for standardized supply guidelines and a more systematic logistics recording system to improve efficiency and planning accuracy.
