Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan instrumen tes diagnostik Four Tier Test untuk mendiagnostik pengubahan konseptual siswa pada materi getaran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model pengembangan 3D. Model pengembangan 3D terdiri atas 3 tahap yaitu: 1) Define (Pendefinisian), 2) Design (Perancangan), dan 3) Develop (Pengembangan). Instrumen yang digunakan pada penelitian ini berupa lembar penilaian kualitas instrumen tes untuk ahli materi dan ahli evaluasi. Penilaian kualitas produk menggunakan skala likert dengan 5 skala yang dibuat dalam bentuk checklist. Adapun hasil penelitian yang dikembangkan adalah instrumen tes VCCI (Vibration Conceptual Change Inventory) bentuk four tier test untuk mendiagnostik pengubahan konseptual siswa. Instrumen tes diagnostik  VCCI ini terdiri dari 6 butir soal. Validasi butir soal meliput validitas isi yang ditinjau dari aspek materi, konstruksi, dan bahasa/budaya, serta kesesuiaian antara soal-soal dalam tes dengan indikator yang diperoleh dari pertimbangan  para dosen ahli. Berdasarkan validitas isi tersebut, 6 soal dinyatakan sangat layak digunakan dengan validitas rata-rata untuk aspek materi, konstruksi, dan bahasa/budaya adalah 0,99. Sedangkan validitas rata-rata untuk kesesuaian antara indikator dengan soal dan kesesuaian antara soal dengan aspek kognitif masing-masing sebesar 0,94 dan 0,89. Dari hasil validitas tersebut dapat dinyatakan bahwa instrumen tes diagnostik VCCI bentuk Four Tier Test yang dikembangkan valid dan sangat layak digunakan untuk mendiagnostik pengubahan konseptual siswa pada materi getaran.

Abstract

Physics education has long emphasized the importance of developing students’ scientific reasoning. This study investigated the development of students’ scientific reasoning using inquiry-based learning with computer simulation. Students’ scientific reasoning was probed by Lawson Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning (LCTSR) and questionnaire to explore students’ response to the learning strategy. Results showed that all of six scientific reasoning aspects (material and volume conservation, proportional thinking, variable identification and control, probabilistic thinking, correlative thinking, and hypothetic-deductive thinking) was enhanced after learning with average N-Gain reflected the results. Aside from scientific reasoning enhancement, students responded positively to the learning strategy.

Abstract

Abstract As one of the foundations in the development of technology, physics must be supported by experimental activities that are able to develop a scientist's skills, such as scientific reasoning skills. Experiments with cookbook methods that have been conducted in various experimental activities are considered not able to maximize the potential of students because it does not provide wide opportunities for students to explore. One of the solutions to develop the scientific reasoning skills of physics students is the problem solving-based experiment approach. The research was conducted by one group pretest-posstest design to 20 physics students as research sample. The research instrument used is the scientific reasoning instrument test developed by Lawson which is known as Lawson Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning (LCTSR) and student work sheet instrument (LKM) containing problems in daily life and questions about: tools and materials, prediction, exploration, measurement, analysis and conclusions. The results show all aspects of scientific reasoning being measured, i.e. 1) conservation of matter and volume, 2) proportional thinking, 3) identification and control of variables, 4) probabilistic thinking, 5) correlative thinking, and 6) hypothetic-deductive thinking has increased. Based on the result of research can be concluded that the problem solving-based experiment can improve the scientific reasoning skills of physics students. Keywords: Problem solving, experiment, scientific reasoning skills Abstrak Fisika sebagai salah satu pondasi ilmu dalam perkembangan teknologi harus didukung dengan kegiatan eksperimen yang mampu menumbuhkembangkan keterampilan seorang ilmuwan, diantaranya keterampilan penalaran ilmiah dalam menyikapi fenomena alam. Eksperimen dengan metode cookbook yang selama ini menjamur dalam berbagai kegiatan eksperimen dipandang tidak mampu memaksimalkan potensi mahasiswa karena tidak memberikan kesempatan yang luas kepada mahasiswa untuk bereksplorasi. Salah satu solusi yang dapat menumbuhkembangkan keterampilan penalaran ilmiah mahasiswa fisika dalam bereksperimen ialah pendekatan problem solving-based experiment. Penelitian dilakukan dengan desain one group pretes-postes design kepada 20 mahasiswa fisika sebagai sampel penelitian. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan ialah instrumen tes penalaran ilmiah yang dikembangkan oleh Lawson yang dikenal dengan nama Lawson Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning (LCTSR) dan instrumen lembar kerja mahasiswa (LKM) berisi permasalahan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan pertanyaan arahan mengenai: alat dan bahan, prediksi, eksplorasi, pengukuran, analisis dan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan semua aspek penalaran ilmiah yang diukur, yaitu 1) kemampuan konservasi materi dan volume, 2) berpikir proporsional, 3) identifikasi dan kontrol variabel, 4) berpikir probabilistik, 5) berpikir korelatif, dan 6) berpikir hipotetik-deduktif mengalami peningkatan, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa problem solving-based experiment mampu meningkatkan keterampilan penalaran ilmiah mahasiswa fisika. Abstract

In Physics learning, misconception is often experienced by students, including on Dynamic Fluid materials namely Continuity Platform. This study aims to identify misconceptions that occur in the subject matter of the Continuity Platform and identify the concept's weakness as the cause of the misconception. The study was conducted on 37 students in one high school in Bandung with one shoot research method. The diagnosis of student misconceptions is done using a four-tier diagnostic test instrument which is the development of a three-tier test instrument by adding a confidence level to the third tier. The results of the diagnosis showed that students who experienced misconceptions of 28%, students who understand some 35%, students who understand the concept only 6%, students who do not understand the concept of 30% and students who cannot be coded 0%. Based on the results of the observation on the learning process and the analysis on the third and fourth tier answers, misconception that occurs is generally due to the student's inappropriate logic that students assume that the fluid has a large speed has a large fluid pressure, and fluid has a small speed has a small fluid pressure.

Abstract

Alat peraga merupakan komponen penting dalam proses pembelajaran yang mampu membantu penyampaian informasi berupa konsep dari pendidik kepada peserta didik, terutama peserta didik dengan kebutuhan khusus. Penelitian ini bertujuan menghasilkan media pembelajaran alat praktikum bagi anak tunanetra pada bahasan hukum II Newton. Metode penelitian Research and Development (R&D) model 3-D (Define, Design, dan Develop) yang direduksi dari model 4-D Thiagajaran digunakan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran dalam penelitian ini. Instrument yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah lembar angket penilaian kualitas isi dan tujuan, kualitas intruksional dan kualitas teknis digunakan pada uji coba terbatas pada dua tahap, yaitu uji ahli dan uji pengguna. Uji ahli pada penelitian ini dilakukan kepada 3 orang ahli media dan materi. Uji pengguna dilakukan kepada 3 orang pendidik dan 10 orang peserta didik kelas X SMA LB-A Kota Bandung. Hasil uji terbatas secara keseluruhan menunjukan kualitas media pembelajaran yang dikembangkan masuk kedalam kualifikasi baik sehingga dapat digunakan yang ditinjau dari ketiga kualitas yang disebutkan.

Abstract

Each student has different characteristics in processing the information (cognitive style), including how to respond, and execute information in learning process to become a useful skills for themselves. This study aims to analyze the differences in cognitive styles of students, namely field dependent and field independent cognitive style towards mastery of concepts. The study was conducted in one of the SMP Negeri Bandung with a sample of 74 students selected by nonrandom sampling method, consisting of 36 students with field dependent cognitive style, and 38 students with field independent cognitive style. All samples do the same learning process (discussions and experiments in groups). Mastery of the concepts of physics obtained by instrument test that has been validated and tested, while the students' cognitive style classification is determined using standard instruments Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT). The result showed that students with field dependent cognitive style increased mastery of concepts with n-gain of 0.27, while students with field independent cognitive style increased mastery of concepts with n-gain 0.23. Based on the research results, mastery concepts for field dependent students slightly larger than field independent students, it is predicted because of the learning process tend to be clustered so that more support dependent cognitive style. Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the gravitational field of the Earth's surface anomaly (g) due to the partial solar eclipse. Large gravity field of Earth's surface can be obtained using a pendulum swing period. Data were collected for three days on 8, 9, and 10 March, 2016 from at 6:00 to 9:00 pm in Bandung with coordinates 6°51'48 " LS, 107°35'40" BT. The tools used in this research was Kater's reversible pendulum with a deviation of less than 3° so that the motion can be regarded swing harmonics. Pendulum swinging motion is recorded using high resolution cameras (High definition) with a shooting speed 24 of frames per second (fps), the video is analyzed using the tracker in order to obtain the period of a pendulum swing. The results show the value of the gravitational field of the Earth's surface on a three-day consecutive sampling of 10,33153834, 10,18560435, and 10,32046468. According to the research there are anomalies in the gravitational field of the Earth's surface (g) due to the partial solar eclipse with the value of the gravitational field which decreases the time of the eclipse. Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of partial solar eclipse (GMS) to the acceleration due to gravity (g) the perceived objects on the Earth's surface. Data is collected in Bandung with the coordinates of 6°51'48 "S, 107°35'40" E for three days on 8, 9 and March 10 2016 with a span of 07.00 to 08.00 am. Earth's surface gravitational acceleration (g) is determined from the period of a pendulum swing that moves harmonics. The instrument used is the mathematical pendulum are optimized by material type nylon rope to prevent the rotational motion of the pendulum, the use of mirrors board to identify and eliminate Conic motion of pendulum and analysis tracker for the determination of the period of a pendulum precisely. Data were collected by recording the pendulum swing using high-resolution cameras with a shooting speed of 24 frames per second (fps), the video is analyzed using application tracker in order to obtain the period of a pendulum swing. The results showed a mean value of the Earth's surface gravitational acceleration (g) of the third day in a row is 9.81524 m s2, 9.808285 m/s2 ,and 9.813122 m/s2. Based on the results of this study concluded that the Earth's surface gravitational acceleration (g) is influenced by partial solar eclipse. Keywords: Eclipse, Tracker, Mathematical Pendulum.

Abstract

Solar eclipse is an event which occurs when sunlight travelling to earth was blocked by the Moon, causing the intensity of sunlight who reach the earth decreased. A change of intensity could affect the behaviour of certain plants, like Bauhinia purpurea. When it receives light, Bauhinia purpurea’s leaves will opened up, when it receives no light, it will closed. The research’s objective is to learn the behaviour of Bauhinia purpurea during the eclipse. The observation was done in Bandung at the coordinate 107o35’24” E 6o51’36” S, May 9th 2016 when the partial solar eclipse occurs, started at 06:20:37 WIB until 08:32:37 WIB. The leaves movements was recorded with pocket camera, then analyzed with Tracker to obtain the width of leaves gap. The sunlight intensity was obtained by using Stellarium. The results shows that sunlight intensity when the solar eclipse started (0,002%/1384,044328 watt/m2) until it reached the maximum partial solar eclipse (85,9%/194,6032101 watt/m2) cause the leaves to closed up until 4,1 mm wide. While from the maximum until the eclipse is over (1384,044328 watt/m2), caused it to opened up until 5,0 mm wide. This results shows that the movement of Bauhinia purpurea’s leaves was affected by the partial solar eclipse. Keywords: Eclipse, Intensity, Bauhinia purpurea.

Abstract

Physics is one of science branch that become the cornerstone of many of advanced technology development, so the process of learning physics should not only focused on the concept mastery but also concerning the discovery aspect. In that case, experiment activity has been really important in learning physics. One of the most common experiment activity which used to explain uniform rectinilier motion and accelerated uniform rectinlier motion is using Atwood Machine. From the observations, it is showed that the measure of the motion parameter has done manually using stopwatch and ruler. The result from this experiment was subjective and also it was cannot give exact characteristic of this two motion. One of the solution for this problem is use tracker application. In this experiment, a body is recorded using High Definition camera with 24 frame per second shutter speed. The result from data processing with tracker has shown that the graphic of position depend on time for uniform rectilinier motion (y=f(t)) is a linier line with positive gradient and the graphic of the velocity depend on time (v=f(t)) is flat line shaped. For the uniform accelerated rectilinier motion, the graphic of position depend on time (y=f(t)) is a graphic from quadratic function and the graphic of the velocity depend on time (v=f(t)) is a linier line with positive gradient. Based on the result of the data analysis, it is concluded that the use of tracker application on atwood machine is able to show the characteristic of uniform rectilinier motion and uniform accelerated rectilinier motion so it is worth to use in physics learning at school.
