Abstract

This study aims to explore the dynamics of interpersonal communication within peer groups and the meaning of communication experiences among elementary school students. The research problem emerged from preliminary observations and interviews indicating dominance in group discussions, unequal participation, and conflicts arising from verbal and nonverbal misunderstandings in the school environment. This study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design. The participants consisted of nine respondents: four students, four parents, and one homeroom teacher at SDIT Plus Usman Bin Ali Medan. Data were collected through observations and in-depth interviews and analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, supported by triangulation to ensure credibility. The findings reveal that students’ interpersonal communication manifests in cooperative, competitive, and conflictual patterns. Children interpret communication as experiences of acceptance or rejection, which influence their self-confidence and social relationships. The main themes identified include openness, empathy, supportiveness, equality, and conflict management. The study implies that schools should strengthen communication and socio-emotional skill development programs to foster a supportive and psychologically safe interaction environment.

Abstract

The rapid growth of social media platforms has intensified the need for accurate cyberbullying detection systems capable of understanding contextual and linguistically complex expressions. Existing machine learning and deep learning approaches often suffer from limited interpretability, insufficient contextual understanding, and suboptimal parameter optimization, reducing their effectiveness in identifying harmful online content. This study proposes a novel cyberbullying detection framework that integrates Linguistic Rule-Based Feature Extraction, an Elman Neural Network (ENN), and the Local Search-Based Improved Bat Algorithm (LSBIA). The main contribution of this research lies in the synergistic combination of interpretable linguistic knowledge, contextual sequence modeling, and metaheuristic optimization within a unified classification framework. Linguistic rules are employed to capture negation patterns, intensifiers, and adjective–noun relationships, while ENN models contextual dependencies through recurrent memory structures. LSBIA is utilized to optimize network parameters and improve convergence stability. Experiments were conducted using textual data collected from Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook and evaluated using stratified 10-fold cross-validation. The proposed method achieved an accuracy of 99.12%, precision of 94.73%, recall of 97.45%, and F1-score of 93.91%, outperforming Support Vector Machine (91.20% accuracy), Naïve Bayes (89.75%), and Decision Tree (90.10%). Ablation experiments further demonstrated the importance of each component, where removing linguistic rules reduced accuracy to 94.90%, removing sentiment scoring reduced accuracy to 96.30%, and replacing ENN with LSTM, GRU, or Transformer architectures resulted in lower accuracies of 92.50%, 91.90%, and 93.20%, respectively. These findings confirm that integrating linguistic feature engineering, contextual neural modeling, and metaheuristic optimization significantly enhances cyberbullying detection performance while maintaining interpretability. The novelty of this study resides in the integration of linguistic rule-based representation with LSBIA-optimized ENN for context-aware cyberbullying classification.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of school climate on student engagement with peer support as a moderator variable in students of MTs Islamiyah Guppi. The background of this study is based on the importance of a positive school environment and peer support in increasing student engagement in learning activities. The research subjects were 269 students in grades VII, VIII, and IX with an age range of 13–15 years. This study used a quantitative approach with the Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis method. The research instruments included scales of school climate, peer support, and student engagement that had been tested for validity and reliability. Based on the results of the hypothesis test, it was found that school climate had a positive and significant effect on student engagement with a coefficient value of 0.475 and a p-value of 0.000. In addition, peer support also had a positive and significant effect on student engagement with a coefficient value of 0.475 and a p-value of 0.000. The results of the moderation test showed that peer support significantly moderated the relationship between school climate and student engagement, with a coefficient value of 0.131 and a p-value of 0.024. The total effect value of 0.606 indicates that the more positive the school climate and the stronger the peer support, the higher the level of student engagement in learning activities. This finding confirms that student engagement in school is influenced not only by a conducive school climate but also by social support among students, which strengthens these positive relationships.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of work motivation on the influence of grit on individual work performance. This research conducted quantitative non-experimental. The sample in this study amounted to 60 police personnel. Data were collected using three scales adopted from previous research. The results direct effect indicate it has been observed that grit exerts a significant influence on individual work performance, with an estimated value of 0.503. This influence is categorized as "strong" due to its magnitude, which exceeds 50%. The indirect effect is characterized by the influence of grit on individual work performance through motivation. Indirect effect has a lower value than the direct effect of 0.303, representing an effect size of approximately 30.3%. In the overall path analysis, it is evident that the strongest path is observed to be the influence of grit on work motivation, with a significant proportion of 65.8%. The correlation between work motivation and grit, with individual work performance is not particularly robust. Consequently, it can be deduced that motivation has the potential to enhance individual work performance, superseding the notion that grit is the sole contributor. The study provides a comprehensive overview of the research deficiencies and recommendations.
