Abstract

This article reviews the role of social media Instagram in the political marketing communications of the PDI Perjuangan and Gerindra Party ahead of the 2024 Election; the election of these two parties is the subject of study because they are the political parties that won the 2019 Election with votes and won the most number of seats. Research using qualitative methods. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis by observing the Instagram accounts @pdiperjuangan and @gerindra. The study results show that Instagram is operated by political parties in digital marketing communications to attract public sympathy. The form of political marketing communication that is spread has a variety of themes and types of uploaded content

Abstract

This study discusses how the majority Muslim community in Aceh responds to the use of the hijab by non-Muslim women in the context of the implementation of Islamic law. The implementation of the Islamic Sharia Qanun in Aceh requires Muslims to wear Islamic clothing. However, it does not apply to non-Muslims, although many non-Muslim women still choose to wear the hijab as a form of social adaptation. Using a qualitative approach and case study method, data were collected through in-depth interviews for one month with eight informants selected by purposive sampling, namely the majority Muslim community in Aceh and those around non-Muslim women who wear the hijab. Symbolic interaction theory analyzes the meaning created by the hijab symbol in social interaction. Gramsci's hegemony theory analyzes the dominance of the majority culture through social consensus without direct coercion. The results of the study show that the majority of Acehnese people accept the use of the hijab by non-Muslim women as a form of respect for local norms and culture. Most informants support this step, although there are concerns about the potential for blurring the identities between Muslims and non-Muslims. This study emphasizes the importance of religious tolerance and moderation to maintain social harmony in areas with religious plurality.

Abstract

Kabupaten Garut menghadapi berbagai tantangan pendidikan, seperti ketimpangan akses, kualitas tenaga pengajar yang belum merata, dan tingginya angka putus sekolah. Menjawab tantangan ini, program Pelatihan Public Speaking bagi Siswa-siswi SMKN 2 Garut ini dirancang untuk meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi siswa agar mereka dapat menyampaikan ide dan pendapat dengan percaya diri di berbagai situasi. Program ini meliputi pelatihan teknik dasar berbicara di depan umum, pengelolaan rasa percaya diri, serta penggunaan bahasa tubuh dan intonasi yang tepat. Keterampilan public speaking ini diharapkan mendukung keberhasilan akademik siswa, meningkatkan partisipasi mereka dalam kegiatan sekolah, dan mempersiapkan mereka menghadapi tantangan di pendidikan tinggi maupun dunia kerja. Selain itu, program ini juga dirancang untuk menjangkau siswa yang telah putus sekolah agar dapat kembali beradaptasi dengan lingkungan pendidikan. Melalui program pengabdian masyarakat ini, Telkom University berkomitmen memberikan kontribusi nyata dalam meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di Garut. Diharapkan, keterampilan public speaking yang diperoleh dapat membangun kepercayaan diri siswa, meningkatkan kemampuan komunikasi, dan mempersiapkan mereka menjadi individu yang kompeten serta berkontribusi positif di masyarakat. Program ini diharapkan menjadi model pelatihan yang dapat diterapkan di berbagai wilayah Indonesia. Kata Kunci: Public Speaking, Garut, Telkom University

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas strategi komunikasi budaya yang digunakan oleh akun TikTok resmi Kementerian Pariwisata Indonesia @pesonaindonesia dalam mempromosikan destinasi wisata dan budaya lokal kepada generasi Z. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan netnografi, studi ini menganalisis lima konten dengan tingkat interaksi tertinggi yang diposting antara Januari hingga Mei 2025. Model encoding/decoding Stuart Hall digunakan untuk memahami bagaimana audiens menafsirkan konten berdasarkan latar budaya masing-masing. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi budaya melalui format digital yang kreatif dan mengikuti tren viral efektif dalam membangun keterlibatan audiens. Temuan juga menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan gaya komunikasi non-formal serta audio viral dapat memperkuat atau, namun disisi lainnya,  dapat mengaburkan pesan utama promosi budaya. Studi ini menegaskan pentingnya penyesuaian strategi komunikasi budaya dalam konteks digital guna mencapai efektivitas pesan dan keterlibatan audiens secara optimal.

Abstract

This study examines the social interaction between the majority of Muslims and non-Muslim minorities in Aceh in the context of the implementation of Islamic Sharia. Using qualitative methods and case study approaches, this study explores how both groups build social harmony through cultural adaptation, participation in social activities, and inclusive attitudes of the majority. The results showed that non-Muslim minorities actively studied local culture and followed the customs of the majority community to facilitate interaction and avoid conflict. Meanwhile, the majority of Muslims show a moderate attitude by giving space for minorities to practice their beliefs without coercion. This mutual respect reflects religious tolerance and moderation, which is the basis of Aceh's social harmony. These findings show that diversity can be managed well through dialogue, mutual respect, and inclusive policies. This study contributes to understanding the majority-minority relationship in societies that apply Islamic law and how to create social cohesion amid differences.

Abstract

The enforcement of Islamic Sharia in Aceh carried out by Wilayatul Hisbah (WH) has attracted public attention, which is spread through TikTok social media content. TikTok has become an effective platform for disseminating this surveillance activity, primarily through the @sahabatsatpollhokseumawe account. This study aims to understand the audience's response to TikTok content related to WH's activities in implementing Islamic Sharia using the Social Judgment Theory (SJT) approach. This study uses a qualitative method with a netnography approach to analyze three posts with the most interactions on the account. Data in the form of audience comments were collected, categorized, and analyzed to identify response patterns, ranging from support and rejection to neutrality. The study results show that audience responses vary, including support for the enforcement of Islamic Sharia, criticism of the implementation method, and curiosity about the legal process applied. In addition, there is debate regarding the privacy of violators whose identities are revealed. This study has practical implications for adjusting WH's digital communication strategy to reach audiences with heterogeneous cultural backgrounds.

Abstract

Taylor Swift is a multi-talented singer-songwriter and global superstar who has captivated audiences with heartfelt lyrics and catchy melodies that have attracted fans worldwide, including Indonesia. This study aims to explore and compare the activities of the Indonesian Taylor Swift fan community (Swifties) on social media. With a qualitative approach and content analysis methods, this study examines the interaction of Swifties on social media platforms such as X, Instagram, and TikTok. The data was collected from Swifties Indonesia's social media accounts, which have the most followers on each platform. The results showed that Swifties Indonesia showed a high level of interaction and participated in various activities, including promoting Taylor Swift's work, social campaigns, and fundraising. Swifties took to social media to share content related to Taylor Swift, creating a sense of community and solidarity among fans.

Abstract

Studi ini bertujuan untuk memahami strategi komunikasi digital yang tertuang dalam content pillar  PT Pelita Bandar Nasional (PELNI Crewing) melalui akun Instagram resminya, dalam konteks praktik digital public relations. Pendekatan ini diposisikan sebagai bagian dari upaya institusi BUMN dalam membangun identitas organisasi, memperkuat legitimasi simbolik, serta menjalin hubungan yang partisipatif dengan publik digital secara strategis. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif interpretatif dengan desain deskriptif-eksploratif, yang menempatkan konten Instagram sebagai artefak simbolik dalam praktik komunikasi organisasi. Data dikumpulkan melalui dokumentasi digital dan observasi non-partisipatif, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan interpretative thematic analysis berbasis teori komunikasi: framing, agenda building, identitas korporat, interaksi simbolik, dan komunikasi dialogis. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa empat pilar konten—Brand Knowledge, Information, Engagement, dan Call to Action—tidak hanya menjalankan fungsi informatif dan promosi, tetapi juga berperan sebagai medium relasi simbolik antara organisasi dan publik. Strategi ini mencerminkan praktik public relations modern yang berorientasi pada narasi, kedekatan emosional, dan partisipasi aktif publik dalam ruang digital.

Abstract

This study examines how organizational rituals reinforce culture and identity within a Gen Z–based educational community. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were gathered through interviews, participant observation, and document analysis in the Troopers community of Armidale English College (AEC), Bandung, Indonesia. Five participants of different seniority levels were purposively selected to represent varied cultural experiences. The findings show that rituals perform four main functions: (1) onboarding and identity building, where initiation activities convey core organizational values; (2) institutional learning, as meetings and peer-led programs serve as platforms for experiential training; (3) social cohesion, where informal rituals like sports and casual gatherings foster trust and solidarity; and (4) collective identity formation, expressed through shared symbols such as uniforms and chants. These practices combine formal and spontaneous elements, linking classical views of organizational culture (Schein, 2010; Goffman, 1967) with Gen Z’s emphasis on authenticity and collaboration. The study contributes theoretically by framing rituals as communicative strategies that sustain organizational culture in youth-oriented learning environments. Practically, it provides insights for educational and volunteer organizations to design culturally relevant engagement strategies that enhance communication, loyalty, and identity formation in the post-pandemic context.
