Abstract

This study aims to explore the potential for innovation in the evaluation of learning elements of painting based on crosswords in the context of education, learning painting has an important role in developing students' abilities to observe, imagine, and communicate through visual mediums. However, traditional evaluation is often limited to written tests or practical projects that may pay less attention to aspects of students' creativity and imagination. Therefore, innovation is needed in the evaluation of learning elements of painting. One interesting approach is to use game elements in the evaluation process, such as crosswords. This study uses research and development methods referring to Sugiyono and data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using an interactive method explained by Prof. Tjetjep Rohendi Rohidi. It is hoped that by introducing painting crosswords as a medium in learning, students can be more involved in the process of learning painting, increase their understanding of important concepts, and develop critical thinking skills and creativity. Suggestions for teachers are to utilize this evaluation tool in other subjects, with the implications of using technology in independent curriculum-based learning.

Abstract

The learning of Art Music in Junior High School can be conducted in various ways, one of which is the use of innovative media. One of these innovative media is Perfect Ear as an Android application used to train aural skills and musical taste in a person who is eager to learn about music theory, specifically rhythmic training. Perfect Ear has been widely played and uploaded by a large number of people. This study aims to measure the effect of Perfect Ear on students' learning concentration level. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research with a Quantitative approach and using statistical analysis (SPSS). The results showed that the independent variables X1: Game Based Learning, X2: Perfect Ear, and X3: Reading rhythmic notation have a correlation with each other on the dependent variable Y: Learning Concentration. Here are the research results: 1) Game Based Learning is 95% proven to significantly affect the level of learning concentration, 2) Perfect Ear is also proven by 95% in influencing the level of concentration, 3) Reading rhythmic notation has no influence on the level of learning concentration, but 4) Game Based Learning, Perfect Ear, and reading rhythmic notation have a 95% influence on the level of learning concentration when they are combined. And in the final measurement, the R Squared value is 31.80%, which means that the total percentage of the effectiveness of the independent variables (X1, X2, X3) on the dependent variable (Y) is smaller than the total percentage derived from other independent variables

Abstract

Drama is one of the components of theater education that can be integrated with other art forms. Within the various elements of theater or drama, there is a collaboration of visual arts, music, dance, drama, and literature. Popular music has been developing in Indonesia since the colonial era, particularly in the 20th century. During this period, genres such a Krontjong, Jazz, orchestral music, and rock music began to emerge. In the world of popular music, rock music has carved out its own space among enthusiasts, symbolizing freedom, rebellion, and high creativity, marked by its dynamic melodies and rhythms, as well as its profound lyrical content. Rock music has become a medium through which listeners express themselves. This article aims to elaborate on musical drama as a form of performance conducted by secondary school students, who take on the dual roles of actors and production team members, in exploring rock music through musical theatre. Such an approach enriches the students’ acting experiences within a musical context. Integrating rock music into the performing arts provides a fresh atmosphere that can influence the students’ characteristics and experiences. This study employs an exploratory qualitative method, involving various stakeholders, to analyze the implementation and impact not only to enhance students’ experiences in acting, but also to stimulate creativity by encouraging the analysis of rock music characteristics, which are expressed through drama. This process supports the development of diverse ideas in musical theatre, ultimately contributing to the quality and elements of school-based musical performance

Abstract

This study investigates how a community-based art initiative—Reboan, held weekly by Bale Seni Tepa Slira in Banyumas, Indonesia—contributes to the social vitality of its participants. Emerging from grassroots artistic impulses, Reboan has evolved into a sustainable practice that bridges performance, learning, and cultural regeneration. Through a qualitative case study grounded in McMillan and Chavis’s (1986) theory of sense of community, the research examines how the dimensions of membership, influence, needs fulfillment, and shared emotional connection are manifested in the community’s everyday interactions. Data was collected through immersive fieldwork involving observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings highlight Reboan’s function not only as a platform for local artistic expression but as a space of belonging, emotional support, and mutual empowerment. As such, Reboan exemplifies the transformative potential of community art in cultivating inclusive, participatory, and socially resilient cultural ecosystems.

Abstract

The focus of this study is how the process of learning to make batik for children in Kampung Batik Tanjung Bumi not only functions as a skill inheritance, but also as a means of preserving local cultural values. The main problem raised is the low interest of the younger generation in traditional cultural heritage, especially Madurese batik, amidst the currents of modernization and globalization. This study aims to formulate a creative ethnopedagogy learning model based on local wisdom through batik activities, so that it can increase children's interest while maintaining the sustainability of tradition. The methodology used is a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with batik artisans, children participating in the learning, parents, and local traditional figures, as well as documentation of activities. Data analysis was carried out thematically by mapping interaction patterns, transmitted values, and creative innovations in learning. The results of the study show that learning to make batik in Tanjung Bumi is able to integrate ethical values, aesthetics, hard work, and respect for nature and ancestors. Children not only learn batik techniques, but also understand the philosophy of motifs, local history, and symbolic meanings contained in each motif. The formulated creative ethnopedagogy model emphasizes a participatory approach, educational games, and expressive space for motif innovation. Thus, batik learning for children becomes an effective means for the regeneration of craftsmen as well as the preservation of cultural heritage.

Abstract

This study examines the integration of Tembang Bocah Banyumasan into the PGMI curriculum at UIN Saizu Purwokerto as a decolonizing intervention in music education. In the PGMI context, the longstanding dominance of Western music has limited pre-service teachers’ exposure to local musical knowledge, weakened cultural rootedness, and produced learning practices that are insufficiently aligned with Indonesia’s cultural diversity. The paper aims to examine how this integration unfolds through three key phases: critical awareness, reappropriation, and emancipation and knowledge production, where students create and perform works that integrate local culture, Islamic values, and environmental awareness. The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach, analyzing curriculum structure, weekly learning stages, and empirical findings from student engagement. The results indicate that integrating Tembang Bocah Banyumasan fosters cultural identity, critical thinking, and creativity among PGMI students, while also contributing to a more inclusive, contextually relevant curriculum for elementary schools. Challenges, such as limited access to traditional instruments, were addressed through digital tools and local artist collaborations, ensuring a meaningful and adaptable learning experience. The findings suggest that this integration not only decolonizes music education but also bridges the gap between university and elementary school curricula, offering a model for inclusive and culturally responsive teaching.
