Abstract

This community service program aimed to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) “Karya Pamuji Agung” in managing the mangrove-based tourism potential in Tluwuk Village, Pati Regency, through organizational development and the formulation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) based on the ecoedutourism concept. The main issues identified included weak organizational management, the absence of tourism management SOPs, and limited promotional and visitor service skills. The implementation was carried out through stages of socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation using the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) approach to ensure active community involvement. The results indicated improved competence among Pokdarwis members in planning programs, understanding the principles of the tourism sapta pesona, and applying four SOPs covering general tourism services, mangrove edutourism, birdwatching, and salt production tourism. This program has enhanced the group’s organizational structure and management capabilities, enabling Pokdarwis Karya Pamuji Agung to act as a community-based driving force for sustainable mangrove ecoedutourism development in Tluwuk Village.

Abstract

Kendal Regency is the 4th largest coffee producing area in Central Java Province with total production reaching 1,806.30 tons in 2021. Coffee production in Kendal Regency in 2021 was produced by Singorojo District amounting to 469 tons, Limbangan District amounting to 450 tons, Patean District amounting to 361 tons and Sukorejo District amounted to 322 tons. One of the coffee producing areas in Limbangan District is Ngesrepbalong Village where the majority of the type of coffee produced is robusta coffee. Based on initial observations of 17 coffee farmers who are members of the Berkah Wana Lestari coffee group in Ngesrepbalong Village, in the 2021 harvest season, the total coffee harvest reached 10.7 tonnes with a productivity level of 0.12 tonnes/ha. On average, each coffee tree in Ngesrepbalong Village produces 2 kilograms of wet coffee fruit (cherry) with a harvest ratio of once a year. The problems experienced by partners are (1) The coffee farming community does not yet know the importance of geographical indications for Mount Ungaran coffee products, there is no coffee farming community institution that focuses on inventory and documentation of geographical indications for Mount Ungaran coffee products, (2) There is no broad information base. land, productivity and detailed characteristics regarding Mount Ungaran coffee, (3) Limited equipment to support the production of organic fertilizer in coffee cultivation activities in Ngesrepbalong Village. Activities carried out by pioneering geographical indications include strengthening group institutions, facilitating facilities and infrastructure to support coffee cultivation, introducing geographical indications, participatory mapping of coffee land and preparing a geographic indication database.

Abstract

The existence of coffee cultivation has the potential to pioneer the Geographical Indication Protection Society/Masyarakat Perlindungan Indikasi Geografis (MPIG) as an effort to increase legal protection for brands and competitive advantage. One of the positive impacts of having geographical indications is that the product has a brand image that can be identified by potential consumers in the form of information regarding the advantages and benefits of the product. The service is carried out using a participatory method involving partners as the main actors with activity steps including: 1) Socialization, 2) Participatory coffee land mapping, 3) Identification of superior Arabica coffee clones, 4) Rebranding of Endemica coffee packaging, 5) Evaluation, and 6) Mentoring. The development of geographical indications for Mount Ungaran coffee was carried out through coffee land mapping, identification of superior clones of Arabica coffee and rebranding of Endemica coffee packaging. Method used Based on the results of participatory land mapping, there are 8 blocks of coffee land with both robusta and arabica types. Meanwhile, in the identification of superior Mount Ungaran Arabica coffee, there are types of Arabica coffee clones consisting of Kartika 1, Sigarar Rutang, and Lini S 795. Meanwhile, the packaging rebranding is carried out through changes to the packaging to strengthen the identity of the Endemica coffee product.
