Abstract

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges faced by ecosystems and biodiversity worldwide. This research examines climate change's impact on biodiversity through a comprehensive literature review. By collecting and analyzing various previous studies, this research identifies patterns of change in flora and fauna species in response to changing climate variables, such as temperature, rainfall, and the frequency of extreme weather events. Literature results show that many species experience changes in distribution, behavior and reproductive timing, which have the potential to disrupt ecosystem interactions and damage ecological balance. This research also discusses the impact of climate change on natural habitats and the conservation efforts needed to protect biodiversity. These findings highlight the urgency of taking effective mitigation and adaptation measures to maintain biodiversity amidst the increasing challenges of climate change.

Abstract

The application of innovative learning media can improve students' cognitive learning outcomes on a subject matter. One interesting solution that can be applied is the application of a differentiation learning model (differentiated instruction). This study aims to analyze the application of a differentiation learning model (differentiated instruction) in improving the cognitive learning outcomes of class X students at SMA Negeri 8 Mataram in Biology subjects. This study uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) with data collection techniques in the form of cognitive learning outcome tests. In Cycle I, students' cognitive learning outcomes were 63 and the classical completeness value was 49%, thus in terms of classical completeness it was not yet complete. While the cognitive learning outcomes of students after applying the differentiation learning model in Cycle II were 92 or 87%, students managed to achieve the learning completeness criteria. The overall achievement of the class can exceed the completeness standard and further strengthen the positive impact of the learning approach using the differentiation learning model (differentiated instruction). Thus, it can be concluded that the application of the differentiation learning model (differentiated instruction) contributes significantly to improving the cognitive learning outcomes of class X students in Biology subjects at SMA Negeri 8 Mataram.

Abstract

Partners are in the city of Mataram, namely the Nurul Islam Sekarbela Islamic boarding school. Starting from the problems of the boarding school, including the low level of independent health of students who are staying and also supported by economic needs in the management of Islamic boarding schools, on the other hand, the cottage has a fairly large yard/land but is still not managed optimally. In our service activities, we provide two things that become solutions to the problems of partners at the Nurul Islam Islamic Boarding School, namely by providing education on the application of land management / boarding school yards with the Agroforestry system. Agroforestry system is a system of land / yard management by combining farming, forestry and animal husbandry systems. This system will increase land productivity while conserving land, promoting aesthetics with flowering plants, and the farm that we will combine is trigona bee cultivation. In the aspect of cultivation, we will combine agricultural and forestry crops and choose bee-feeding plants, namely resin and pollen supply plants. Meanwhile, from the aspect of cultivation, the team provided assistance in providing flowering tree seeds of the Kaliandra species, etc. The service implementation team held technical guidance activities on how to plant on peat land for the right types of trees and planting patterns.

Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to increase the knowledge and skills of the community in utilizing livestock and community plantation waste into compost. The advantages of this compost are that it is environmentally friendly, can increase the income of farmers and can increase soil fertility and improve soil physical damage due to excessive use of inorganic fertilizers. The participants of this training activity were 21 people from Selelos Baturinggit Village, Gangga District, North Lombok Regency. This training activity is carried out in three stages, namely: 1) Preparation; 2) Implementation; and 3) Evaluation. The implementation of this community service program is by providing a technology package for making solid organic fertilizer with the basic ingredients of cow dung and community plantation waste. Extension activities and practices for making solid organic fertilizers have been carried out in the Selelos Baturinggit Village Community, North Lombok Regency. The results of this organic fertilizer are expected to be applied to plantation land to reduce the use of inorganic fertilizers and increase plantation yields.

Abstract

Cashew nuts (Anacardium occidentale) are plants with great potential and high economic value in West Nusa Tenggara Province. East Lombok Regency is one of the cashew producing areas in Indonesia. Local people usually call it guava jemet or guava jebet. So far, cashew farming communities have only used the true fruit or what is better known as the seeds for sale. However, in reality, the pseudo-fruit of cashew nuts or what is commonly referred to as the fruit can be processed into a product that has high economic value, namely made into shredded meat. Shredded cashew is usually made from cashew fruit that is quite old or already ripe. Thus, the aim of making cashew floss is to create a new innovative product by optimizing the use of cashew fruit as an ingredient for making shredded cashew fruit, so that it can produce cashew floss with good quality and high selling value and is beneficial for consumers. This method of making shredded meat starts from the tool and material preparation stage, the processing stage, the shredded making stage, and the evaluation stage. Then a report is prepared and the article is published. It is hoped that the results of this activity will become an innovative product with high sales value and be published as an article that can be used as a reference for optimizing natural resources.

Abstract

The purpose of this activity is to utilize agricultural waste as long-term animal feed in Semelek Hamlet, Santong Village, Terara District, East Lombok Regency. The activity methods that have been carried out are: lectures, demonstrations, and exercises. At the implementation stage of this community service, socialization was carried out using the lecture method intended to provide additional knowledge and skills to members of the cattle farming group about the quality of feed from fermented rice straw. Then continued with the demonstration method as well as training in making fermented rice straw using a mixture of urea and fermented rice straw using rice bran, in addition to other mixtures of materials such as EM-4. Demonstrations and exercises carried out by resource persons and participants, namely: 1) making fermented rice straw using a mixture of urea; and 2) making fermented rice straw using a mixture of bran. The results of the lectures, demonstrations, and exercises carried out by the speakers and participants showed that rice straw fermentation can be carried out using two effective methods, namely using a urea mixture and using a bran mixture. In the first method, the urea mixture functions as a source of nitrogen that accelerates the fermentation process and increases the protein content of the straw, while in the second method, the bran acts as an additional energy source for fermentation microorganisms. Both methods succeeded in producing fermented straw that was softer, did not have a pungent odor, and was preferred by livestock compared to ordinary straw. Participants also looked enthusiastic and active in following each stage, from mixing the ingredients to the fermentation storage process, which proved that this activity provided practical experience that was useful for application in the field.

Abstract

Obesity is overweight due to excessive accumulation of fat in the body. Fat accumulation occurs when food intake exceeds the energy expended in activity. The obesity rate continues to increase every year, with the number of adult males increasing from 13.9% in 2007 to 19.7% in 2013. As for adult women, there is a very extreme increase of 18.9%, from 1 to 14 .8% in 2007 to 32.9% in 2013. The purpose of this study is to help provide knowledge about the importance of a healthy lifestyle and the dangers of diabetes mellitus. The research method in this article uses case studies (Library Research) with writing techniques to collect data and information from books and related journal references. The result of writing this article is that there are still many people with diabetes mellitus who do not understand the disease, as well as the lack of early education for all who are not familiar with diabetes mellitus.
