Abstract

Mastery of concepts in a field of science includes a combination of mastery of knowledge of the field of science being studied and dimensions of cognitive processes, including factual, conceptual and procedural knowledge. The importance of students' mastery of concepts related to the field of biology means that teachers must continue to train students to master biological concepts well. In general, social studies students have good knowledge in the field of social studies, but not necessarily good knowledge in the field of science, especially biology. The aim of this research is to reveal gender-based mastery of biology concepts of students majoring in social studies at SMA Negeri 7 Mataram using a project based learning model. The research method used quasi correlational involving 126 students, consisting of 45 male students and 81 female students. Data analysis used an independent sample t test at a significance level of 5%. The research results show that there is no significant difference between male and female students' mastery of concepts using the project based learning model. The average mastery of concepts for male students is 56.296, and the average mastery of concepts for female students is 57.510. The significance value (Sig. 2 tailed) is 0.618 > 0.05. The implication of this research is that the project based learning model does not provide a significant difference in students' mastery of concepts based on gender, or the project based learning model can be said to have the same effect in increasing students' mastery of biology concepts, both for male and female students.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is a very important skill for students to have and needs to be trained in classroom learning activities using an applicable approach. One learning model that can be applied to improve students' scientific literacy skills is through the application of the Project Based Learning learning model. This research aims to evaluate that research using the Project Based Learning model has a positive impact on scientific literacy abilities and student learning outcomes. The research method uses Systematic Literature Review (SLR) where researchers examine or review 50 articles from several journals via Google Scholar spanning the years 2019-2024. Data collection was carried out through the theory of inclusion and exclusion so that the final results obtained were 20 open access articles using Google Scholar. Based on the research results, it shows that the application of the Project Based Learning learning model contributes positively to improving critical thinking skills, solving problems, being able to increase literacy, and being able to improve student learning outcomes. This ability to have a positive impact will later become students' initial capital in developing affective, cognitive and psychomotor skills in science learning activities at school.

Abstract

Life-long learning is an on going educational process without time and place limits. It starts from birth until the end of life, that is what happens in the family, school, workplace, and in public life. The purpose of life-long education is to develop the potential of human personality in accordance with nature and its essence, to develop awareness that the growth and development of the human personality is alive and dynamic, and to expand and increase human hope and life. The implications of life-long learning programs can be grouped into several categories, namely: functional literacy education, vocational education, professional education, education towards changes in development and civic education, and political maturity. This study aims to determine how important lifelong education is for high school students (SMA). The method used in this research is a literature study. The data obtained were analyzed through descriptive analytical method with a qualitative approach. The results of the literature study concluded that life-long learning can increase students' independence and entrepreneurial spirit, which is useful throughout the student's life.

Abstract

This article aims to explain the results of students' informal reasoning in learning natural sciences. In various research journals that have been screened, the results obtained are that students already know socio-scientific issues in everyday life. But they have not been able to provide reasoning informally correctly on the issues given.

Abstract

Hibiscus sabdariffa is a species of the Malvaceae family which has long been used by humans as a traditional medicine. The use of Hibiscus sabdariffa as a traditional medicine is related to its bioactivity. Hibiscus sabdariffa has several pharmacological potentials, namely: 1) anticancer; 2) antioxidants; 3) antibacterial; 4) antiaging; 5) antiseptic; and 6) antihypertensive. The method of writing this article is a literature review published online, especially on Google Scholar using the keywords Hibiscus sabdariffa, bioactivity and utilization of Hibiscus sabdariffa. The results of this review state that rosella flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) have potential as anticancer, antioxidants, antihypertensive antibacterials, and low caffeinated tea drinks.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effectiveness of innovative learning methods in biology education through a literature review. Innovative learning methods, which include project-based approaches, collaborative learning, and the use of digital technology, have become a major focus in improving the quality of education at various levels. By analyzing various studies and relevant literature, this research evaluates the impact of the method on conceptual understanding, student motivation, and learning outcomes in biology subjects. The results of the review show that the application of innovative learning methods not only increases student engagement, but also supports the development of critical and analytical thinking skills. Additionally, this research identifies challenges faced by educators in implementing innovative methods, as well as recommendations for better educational practices in the future. These findings are expected to provide a significant contribution to curriculum development and teaching strategies in biology education.

Abstract

The use of innovative learning media can increase students' interest in learning a material. One interesting solution that can be applied is the use of experiential learning models. This study aims to analyze the use of experiential learning models in increasing the interest in learning of class X students at SMA Negeri 8 Mataram in biology subjects. This study uses the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method. This Classroom Action Research was carried out in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection techniques were in the form of questionnaires. The results of the study showed that in cycle I, the average student interest in learning reached 81%, this is included in the category of very high student interest in learning when using the experiential learning model. While in cycle II, the average student interest in learning reached 83%, this is included in the category of very high student interest in learning when using the experiential learning model. Thus, it can be concluded that the use of experiential learning models contributes significantly to increasing students' interest in learning biology at SMA Negeri 8 Mataram.
