Abstract

Breast cancer is a deadly disease that not only attacks the body but also causes psychological effects such as depression, anxiety, and prolonged stress in patients. In dealing with their illness, subjects receive considerable social support from family, friends, and the community, which helps reduce pressure and build resilience. This study aims to explore more deeply the role of social support in building resilience in breast cancer survivors. This study employs a qualitative approach, utilizing a single case study. The subject is a 37-year-old female breast cancer survivor who works as a freelancer and is also a housewife. The subject has been suffering for 3 years and has shown resilience during her treatment. Data were collected through observation of the subject's behavior and semi-structured interviews based on Edith Gortberg's resilience guidelines. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles and Huberman model with three stages: reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results of the study showed that the subject experienced initial emotional trauma, such as fear, rejection, and isolation after diagnosis and the loss of a child, exacerbated by repeated surgeries and preoperative anxiety about skin grafts. However, social support from husbands, families, and communities, coupled with individuals' resilient, optimistic, and open-minded internal characteristics, coping skills, and good emotional management, significantly shaped their resilience, helping them rise from their state of despair.

Abstract

Residual schizophrenia refers to the enduring symptoms of schizophrenia that persist even after acute psychotic episodes have been managed. This study utilizes Freud's psychoanalytic theory to explore how early trauma and authoritarian parenting styles contribute to the development and persistence of residual schizophrenia. Through a case study methodology involving clinical interviews and psychological assessments, this research integrates psychoanalytic insights with schizophrenia research. Findings indicate that early trauma, such as bullying during adolescence, combined with authoritarian parenting, significantly impacts the onset of schizophrenia. Freud’s concepts of the id, ego, and superego provide a framework to understand the psychological conflicts and defense mechanisms involved, emphasizing how repressed memories and a strict upbringing can exacerbate symptoms. The study underscores the importance of psychoanalytic theory in examining the influence of early experiences and family dynamics on schizophrenia, suggesting that addressing these underlying psychological factors is crucial for effective treatment and recovery.

Abstract

This study aims to provide a descriptive overview of self-efficacy among twelfth-grade students who are facing intense academic demands and transition challenges. Self-efficacy, defined as an individual’s belief in their capability to organize and execute actions required to manage prospective situations, plays a critical role in determining students’ motivation and perseverance. A quantitative descriptive approach was employed with 119 students as respondents. Data were collected using a self-efficacy scale comprising items that measure level, generality, and strength dimensions. The findings show that the majority of students have moderate to high self-efficacy, which implies readiness to face academic tasks. Descriptive statistics further reveal variations between class groups. This study highlights the importance of promoting strategies that maintain and enhance students’ confidence in their academic capabilities.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and validate measurement instruments for assessing teacher–student relationships and student resilience in the Indonesian educational context. The teacher–student relationship scale covers seven dimensions such as proximity seeking, emotional support, and open communication. Meanwhile, the resilience scale comprises eight dimensions including emotional, cognitive, relational, physical, motivational, spiritual, and adaptive aspects. Data were collected through two try outs using Likert scale questionnaires distributed via both paper based and Google Form to middle and high school students. Validity was tested using Pearson correlation, and reliability was confirmed through Cronbach’s Alpha. The results show high validity and reliability for both scales, with a positive correlation (r = 0.489, p < 0.05) indicating that better teacher–student relationships are associated with higher student resilience. This study contributes practical measurement tools for educational interventions to strengthen psychosocial student development in Indonesia.
