Abstract

Problems: The problem in this research is that there is no new drive measuring tool in table tennis. Purpose: To make a drive measuring tool for table tennis. Methods: This research method is research and development (R&D). The population and sample in this study were 30 table tennis athletes from PTM Rohul. The study was conducted on May 13, 2025, by administering questionnaires to 2 media experts and 2 material experts. The first drive test was conducted on May 13, 2025, and the second drive test was conducted on May 15, 2025, to test the reliability of this instrument. The criterion test, using a previously existing drive test (from Tomoliyus), was conducted on May 14, 2025, to determine the validity of the test. This study involved samples of 30 PTM Rohul athletes from the first and second tests. The data collection method used questionnaires and tests. Results: The research results obtained from material experts were 87% and 86% (appropriate), and media experts were 85% and 88% (appropriate). Validity was 0.84 and reliability was 0.87. Conclusion: Research on the development of a forehand drive instrument in table tennis has produced a valid and reliable measuring tool to objectively assess the athlete's forehand drive technique. Through stages of content validity, construct validity, and reliability testing, this instrument has been proven to be able to measure aspects of accuracy, speed, and consistency of forehand drive strokes with a high level of accuracy. This study only involved a limited sample from one region or club, so the generalizability of the results still needs to be tested on a wider population. Encourage the development of similar instruments in other table tennis techniques such as backhand drives, chops, and smashes. It is recommended to develop application-based digital instruments, so that forehand drive skill measurements can be carried out efficiently and in real-time

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh menurunnya minat generasi muda terhadap Silat Sendeng Putra Melayu Hulu sebagai warisan budaya lokal di Desa Rambah Tengah Hilir, Kabupaten Rokan Hulu. Penelitian bertujuan mendeskripsikan struktur teknik dasar dan jurus, sistem latihan, serta nilai filosofis dan peran sosialnya dalam masyarakat. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif deskriptif dengan subjek guru silat, pelatih, anggota aktif, dan tokoh adat yang dipilih secara purposive. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis melalui reduksi data, penyajian, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa silat ini memiliki teknik langkah, tangkisan, dan kuncian yang sistematis dan bertahap. Selain sebagai bela diri, silat berfungsi membentuk disiplin, penghormatan kepada guru, serta memperkuat identitas budaya Melayu Hulu secara berkelanjutan..

Abstract

Footwork is a crucial component of table tennis athletes’ performance; however, its measurement and training are still conducted manually, making them less efficient and less objective. This study aims to develop a footwork instrument based on the Internet of Things (IoT) using the Ryu Seung Mon approach to improve the accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency of training. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the Borg & Gall development model, which was simplified into several stages: identifying potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation, revision, and limited trials. The small-group trial involved 25 participants, while the large-group trial involved 40 participants. The results indicate that the IoT-based footwork instrument is capable of recording athletes’ movements in real time, providing immediate feedback, and analyzing movement speed and accuracy based on the Ryu Seung Mon footwork pattern. Validation results showed that the first material expert rated the product at 86.33%, the second material expert at 88.75%, the first media expert at 91.66%, the second media expert at 90.25%, and the technology expert also indicated that the product is feasible for use in table tennis training. The significance of these findings demonstrates that the integration of IoT in sports training can quantitatively and objectively enhance the quality of coaching. In conclusion, this instrument is effective as a footwork measurement tool and represents a technological innovation in improving table tennis athletes’ performance. The primary limitation of this study lies in the potential low external validity and long-term reliability of the instrument due to its dependence on the stability of IoT devices.
