Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) remains one of the most common health problems affecting children, particularly those of preschool age. Proper early management is essential to reduce symptoms and prevent further complications. Ginger and honey are natural ingredients known for their anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and immune-boosting properties, making them suitable alternatives for alleviating ARI symptoms. This socialization activity aimed to improve mothers’ knowledge regarding the benefits of ginger-honey preparations and their application in managing mild ARI in children. The program was conducted in RT 04, Ponorogo Village, Lubuklinggau Utara II District, and was attended by 15 participants. An evaluation was carried out on a three-year-old child named Nadira Al-Maida who experienced ARI symptoms. The results showed that after receiving ginger-honey treatment routinely, symptoms such as coughing and nasal congestion significantly decreased, sleep quality improved, and daily activities became more stable. These findings indicate that ginger-honey preparation can serve as an effective, safe, and easily applied early intervention for ARI. The socialization activity proved effective not only in increasing community knowledge but also in demonstrating a direct positive impact on child health.

Puberty in adolescent girls is marked by menarche, which is the first menstruation that occurs due to the shedding of the endometrial layer containing many blood vessels in the uterus. Based on the researcher's initial survey of several parents of adolescent girls at SDN 66 Bengkulu City, it was found that most parents did not fully understand the importance of early reproductive health education. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the role of parents in reproductive health education and the readiness of adolescent girls at SDN 66 Kota Bengkulu to face menarche. This study used a quantitative descriptive method for a cross-sectional research design. The population in this study consisted of 59 female adolescents in grades 4 and 5 at SDN 66 Bengkulu City. The sample consisted of 36 female adolescents. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires. Bivariate analysis used the chi-square statistical test. Most parents of adolescent girls at SDN 66 Bengkulu City played a positive role in reproductive health education, namely 55.6%. And most adolescent girls at SDN 66 Bengkulu City, namely 66.7%, showed readiness to face menarche. The results of the chi-square test showed a p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05). It is recommended that parents, schools, and adolescent girls play an active role in reproductive health education from an early age through positive communication and reliable sources of information. Abstract

The phenomenon of teenage pregnancy remains a significant reproductive health issue, both globally and nationally. Based on WHO data and national reports, Indonesia still has a high teenage birth rate. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and the role of peers in preventive behaviour against teenage pregnancy at SMAN 02 Seluma. The method used in this study is a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional method. The research sample consisted of 79 female students in grades X and XI, selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted using a closed questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. Based on the results of the univariate analysis, the study showed that most respondents (47 or 59.5%) had a low level of knowledge, most respondents (44 or 55.7%) had a negative peer role, and most respondents (46 or 58.2%) had negative pregnancy prevention behaviour. Bivariate analysis of normality tests found a relationship between adolescent knowledge and pregnancy prevention behaviour among adolescents at SMAN 02 Seluma in 2025, as seen using the Chi-Square test (Person Chy-Square), which yielded a value of 6.981 with a p-value of 0.030 (< 0.05). There was a relationship between the role of peers and pregnancy prevention behaviour among adolescents at SMAN 02 Seluma in 2025, as seen using the Chi-Square test (Continuity Correction), which yielded a value of 5.022 with a p-value of 0.025 (< 0.05). It was concluded that both knowledge and the role of peers influenced pregnancy prevention behaviour among adolescents. It is hoped that schools and health workers can improve education and form positive peer groups to reduce the number of teenage pregnancies.

Abstract

Vaginal discharge is a common reproductive health problem among adolescent girls. In Indonesia, approximately 75% of women experience vaginal discharge at least once in their lifetime, with some experiencing it during adolescence. The occurrence of vaginal discharge can be influenced by the level of knowledge about vulvar hygiene. A lack of knowledge regarding proper feminine hygiene practices can increase the risk of vaginal discharge. This study aimed to determine the relationship between adolescents’ knowledge of vulvar hygiene and the occurrence of vaginal discharge among female students at SMAN 02 of Bengkulu City. The research employed a descriptive analytic method with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 83 respondents at SMAN 02 of Bengkulu City using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. The results showed that the majority of respondents (88%) had good knowledge of vulvar hygiene, and almost all respondents (98.8%) did not experience vaginal discharge. The Chi-square statistical test produced a p-value of 0.039 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between adolescents’ knowledge of vulvar hygiene and the occurrence of vaginal discharge among female students at SMAN 02 of Bengkulu City. Based on these findings, it is recommended that schools enhance reproductive health education through counseling or adolescent health programs, particularly concerning the importance of maintaining feminine hygiene
