Abstract

This study aims to examine the geometric concepts embedded in the Baeleo Hena Puan traditional house as a context for ethnomathematics-based mathematics learning. The research employs a qualitative approach with an exploratory descriptive method through visual analysis of the architectural structures of the traditional house. The results of the analysis indicate that the Baeleo Hena Puan traditional house incorporates various geometric concepts, including two-dimensional shapes such as rectangles, triangles, and trapezoids, as well as three-dimensional solids in the form of rectangular prisms and triangular prisms. In addition, patterns of repetition and reflectional symmetry were identified in the arrangement of columns and building openings. From the perspective of D’Ambrosio’s ethnomathematics, these findings represent mathematical activities that have developed within the cultural practices of the local community. The integration of traditional architecture as a context for mathematics learning has the potential to bridge formal mathematics with students’ cultural experiences, thereby supporting meaningful, contextual, and culturally inclusive learning. This study recommends the use of the Baeleo Hena Puan traditional house as a contextual learning resource in geometry instruction at schools

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur efektivitas e-modul interaktif matematika berbasis local issues dengan pendekatan personalized learning dalam meningkatkan kemampuan CT siswa SMP. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen pretest-posttest control group design dengan sampel terdiri dari 60 siswa yang dibagi menjadi kelompok eksperimen sebanyak 30 siswa yang menggunakan e-modul interaktif dan kelompok kontrol sebanyak 30 siswa yang menggunakan metode pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan CT yang telah divalidasi. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan independent sample t-test untuk membandingkan perbedaan rata-rata kemampuan CT antara kedua kelompok sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan signifikan pada kemampuan CT siswa di kelompok eksperimen dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Hasil analisis diperoleh nilai sig. 2-tailed adalah 0.00. Nilai ini menunjukan bahwa penggunaan e-modul interaktif matematika berbasis lokal issues dengan pendekatan personalized learning efektif terhadap CT siswa SMP. Hasil penelitian ini memiliki implikasi praktis bagi pengembangan kurikulum dan metode pengajaran, serta dapat menjadi acuan bagi pendidik dan pembuat kebijakan dalam merancang program pembelajaran yang lebih adaptif dan kontekstual. Effectiveness of interactive e-modules for mathematics based on local issues with a personalized learning approach to computational thinking Abstract: This study aims to measure the effectiveness of an interactive e-module of mathematics based on local issues with a personalized learning approach in improving the CT ability of junior high school students. The research design used was an experimental pretest-posttest control group design with a sample of 60 students divided into an experimental group of 30 students using interactive e-modules and a control group of 30 students using conventional learning methods. The instrument used was a validated CT ability test. Data analysis was conducted using an independent sample t-test to compare the average difference in CT ability between the two groups before and after treatment. The results showed that there was a significant increase in students' CT ability in the experimental group compared to the control group. The results of the analysis obtained the sig. 2-tailed is 0.00. This value shows that the use of interactive e-modules of mathematics based on local issues with personalized learning approach is effective on CT of junior high school students. The results of this study have practical implications for curriculum development and teaching methods and can be a reference for educators and policymakers in designing learning programs that are more adaptive and contextual.
