Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

The study investigates the efficacy of nano-sized cattle bone ash as an alternative phosphorus source for shallot cultivation, aiming to reduce dependence on mined phosphate rock. The experimental study was arranged in a 4 x 3 factorial Completely Randomized Design. The first factor was the recommended dose of P fertilizer, consisting of 100%, 80%, 60%, and 40%. The second factor was using nano cattle bone ash as a foliar application, applied 3, 4, and 5 times. The observation was made on the plant growth and yield of shallot. Data analysis was conducted with an ANOVA and continued with the DMRT. The results showed no interaction effect of the dose of P fertilizer and the frequency of spraying nano cattle bone ash on the growth and yield of shallots. The application of P fertilizer at 40% of the recommended dose could already produce shallots that were the same as the application of P fertilizer according to the recommended dosage. The spraying frequency of three times was able to provide high shallot yields.  In the future, it is expected that spraying cow bone ash with nanotechnology can be applied three times with a 40% recommended dose of P to increase fertilization efficiency.

Abstract

Insights and skills in the intensification of yard land to be more productive and provide added value to the community, and the potential of human and natural resources in Gamping District. To achieve the predetermined objectives, methods have been carried out, namely, counseling, which is carried out by gathering organizational leaders and worshipers to attend counseling on women's empowerment, yard land management, and technology for utilizing family waste into organic fertilizer, with resource persons from the Implementation Team, Demonstrations and training are carried out by simulating healthy vegetable cultivation practices using equipment and materials that have been prepared by program implementers, cultivation practices by utilizing the land to produce products, and periodic mentoring to foster and assist partners until they succeed in cultivating healthy vegetables by utilizing vacant land to achieve optimal results. Healthy vegetable cultivation application of healthy vegetable cultivation technology with land utilization and healthy vegetable cultivation skills there is an increase in understanding, this is known from the results of the questionnaire distributed, the advantage of utilizing narrow yard land Innovation Technology can maintain family food health and increase family economy as evidenced by the results of joint harvests carried out together and periodically.

Abstract

Abstract. Dewi SS, Supangkat G, Hastomo T. 2025. Comparison of starch-based liquid sugar production from local cassava. Asian J Agric 9: 683-688. Indonesia's rising sugar demand and dependence on imports have sparked interest in alternative sweeteners sourced from local crops. The country currently imports a significant portion of its sugar, leading to concerns about food security and economic stability. Cassava (Manihot esculenta), widely cultivated across the country, offers a promising raw material for liquid sugar production due to its high starch content and accessibility. This study evaluates the suitability of three cassava varieties; Cartiva 25, Melati, and Randu for liquid sugar production using enzymatic hydrolysis. The process involved liquefaction with ?-amylase followed by saccharification with glucoamylase. Carbohydrate content in the resulting liquid sugar ranged from 76.15 to 80.39%, with Randu and Melati outperforming Cartiva 25. Reducing sugar levels was highest in Randu (65.10%), indicating more efficient starch conversion. Sensory analysis revealed that Randu produced the sweetest and lightest-colored liquid sugar. However, none of the samples met Indonesian National Standards for colorlessness and odorlessness due to the absence of purification steps. While starch yield did not differ significantly among varieties, biochemical and sensory profiles suggest that varietal selection plays a critical role in optimizing sugar output and product quality. Randu and Melati varieties demonstrated superior performance and are recommended for industrial-scale processing. To meet national standards and enhance market viability, future production should incorporate purification techniques such as decolorization and deodorization. These findings offer practical guidance for processors and farmers, highlighting cassava's potential to reduce reliance on imported sugar and support sustainable agriculture. Promoting high-performing varieties like Randu and Melati could strengthen local supply chains and contribute to Indonesia's food system resilience.
