Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Learning Cycle 5E learning model on the mastery of students' concepts on VII class in environmental contents. Variable in this research is Learning Cycle 5E learning model as independent variable and mastery of concept as dependent variable. The sample of this research is VII class 3 as experiment class and VII.4 class as control class. This study is a quasi experiment with Non-equivalent Control Group Design research design, while data collection techniques used are interview, written test (pretest-postest) and documentation. The written test (pretest-postest) is used to see students' mastery skills after applied Learning Cycle 5E learning model. Analysis of test data using t-test with a significant level of 5%. Based on hypothesis test of control class data and experimental class hence obtained sig value 0,000<0,05, significantly different. The overall experimental class posttest score can be said to be excellent, with an average gain of 84.00, while the mean value of the control class is 73.33. Based on this it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the implementation of Learning Cycle 5E learning model on the mastery of students' concepts on environmental VII class. Keywords: learning model, learning cycle, 5E, concept mastery

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the learning model cooperative learning type thinking pair square affect the skills of science process students of VII class. This research uses quasi experiment method (quasi experimental ) research design with the matching only pretest-posttest control group design . Sampling by saturation sampling . The research sample is VII.1 class as control class and VII.2 class as experiment class. The instrument used in this study is a question in the form of multiple choice and essay, observation sheets science process skills of students and teacher observation sheet activities regarding adherence to the type of learning model cooperative learning Think Pair Square. The results of this study indicate that there are differences in the science process skills between students who follow cooperative learning model type think pair square with conventional learning model (discussion, lecture or question and answer) on the subject of the characteristics organism on VII class junior high school shown by hypothesis testing . The results of statistical calculations obtained t-arithmetic = 5.375 and t-table of 1.676 with dk (degrees of freedom) of 50 at a significant level of 5% so t-arithmetic > t-table that is 5.375> 1.676 . Based on the results of hypothesis testing, it can be concluded that the influence of think pair square model on the skills of students' science processes in the experimental class on the subject of the characteristics of organism on students in VII class in junior high school. Keywords: cooperative learning, characteristics of organism, TPS (Think Pair Square), process skills

Abstract

This research aims to determine whether the learning model Attainment Concept Model (CAM) effect against High School Students Critical Thinking Skills. This research uses quasi- experimental method with Pretest - Posttest Research Design Control Group Design . Sampling is done by saturated sampling technique. The sample of this research is X.1 dan X.2 class of science group study. The results showed that there are differences in critical thinking ability at animalia material. Improvement Critical thinking ability can be seen in the results before using learning model indicator that are Analysis, Evaluation, Inference (Conclusion), Explanation, Self regulation are 36%, 37%, 41 %, 45%, and 46 %. After using Learning Model on the indicator interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference (conclusion), explanation, Self-regulation (setting themselves) are 80%, 84%, 85%, 85%, 83% and 84%. The results showed that learning model can enhance students critical thinking ability. The results of the statistics obtained tarithmetic = 3.474 and ttable = 1.666 with df (degrees of freedom) by 73 with a significant level of 5%, therefore tarithmetic > ttable is 3.474> 1.666 and 0.001 significance value> 0.05. Based on the hypothesis test, it can be concluded that the influence of learning model Concept Attainment Model on students’ critical thinking skills for X class. Keywords: animalia, Concept Attaiment Model (CAM), critical thinking, learning model

Abstract

This research aims to know the influence of method of Mind Mapping to learning activities of students on classification of living things material in VII Class at one of Junior High School in Palembang. Research methods used in this research is a Quasi Experimental Design. The population in this research is the whole students in VII class of Junior High School that consist of 2 classes numbered 64 students. Sampling that used is purposive sampling technique. The sample of this research is VII.1 class with 32 students as experiment class and VII.2 class with 32 students as a control class. On the process of learning, experimental class taught by using Mind Mapping method and the control class by using the conventional methods (discussion group). Data collection is using the observation sheet of student learning activities that have been tested using the formula of Aiken's v. The results of this study showed that the average student learning activities on the experimental class in 2 meetings i.e. 79, 2% of students who have been active with very active category. On the control class that the percentage of liveliness is 73,90% students with active category. The results of data analysis is using t-test with significant level 0,05 obtained tarithmetic = 3,775 while ttable = 1,671 so tarithmetic > ttable. Therefore Ha is received and H0 is rejected. It can be inferred that Mind Mapping methods can affect tostudent learning activities. Keywords: classification of livings learning activity, mind mapping, science

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning strategy the power of two on the activity of students in Biology learning. This research design uses posttest-only control design with quasi experimental method. The population in this study is the entire class in X class in one high school at Palembang consisting of 5 classes, with 141 students. Sampling is using purposive technique. The sample of this study is X IPA 3 class with 36 students as experimental class and X IPA 2 class with 36 students as control class. In the learning process, the experimental class is taught by using the power of two learning strategy and control class using conventional method (lecture). Data collection is from observation sheet and questionnaire of student learning activity which have been tested its validity by using Aiken's V formula. The result of this study shows that the average of student learning activity in the experimental class in 2 meetings is 83,05% of the students who have been active in very active category. In control class, the percentage of active students 55,46% is active category. Result of data analysis that is using t-test with significant level 0,05 obtained tarithmetic = 9,693 while ttable = 1,994 seen that tarithmetic > ttable. Therefore, Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected thus it can be concluded that the power of two's learning strategy can have an effect on student's learning activeness. Increasing the liveliness of learners can optimize the motivation, cooperation, responsibility, reading interest, and learner activity in the learning process. Abstract

This study aims to determine the benefits of school environment as a source of learning on the Plantae material (Spermatophyta) by using contextual learning on the activities of high school students of high school. This research used descriptive research type. Sampling in this research is done by purposive sampling technique (purposive sampling) considering student ability and activity in various class samples. Research sample in this research is class X MIPA. This research was conducted for three meetings with assessment instrument in the form of observation sheet which will be assessed by 5 (five) observers. The observation sheets are activity observation sheets, student attitudes and skills as well as individual student final reports. The results of this study indicate that the activities of students including active category (B) with 82% percentage of assessment. Likewise the attitude of students who belong to either category (B) with the same percentage of assessment. Another case with the skills of students who are classified as excellent (A) with a higher percentage of assessment that is 89%. Meanwhile, in the final report students individually more than 50% of students category is very good (A) with the percentage of students overall 83.8% which indicates the final report of students done with good category (B). If accumulated as a whole the percentage of assessment of each instrument is 84.42% with good category with the predicate B. Therefore, the school environment can be utilized as a source of biology learning especially Spermatophyta material by using contextual learning model.
