Abstract

Question skill is skill that must be ask by students in learning to get information from their interlocutor. In the biology learning, question skill is necessary for interaction between teacher and student so that learning is good. The study aims to describe the questioning skills of class XI even semester 2018/2019 in SMA Nurul Iman Palembang based on Bloom Taxonomy Revised Cognitive Process Dimensions through the Problem Based Learning model of Biology subjects. The research was conducted at SMA Nurul Iman Palembang. This research was conducted in April-May 2019. This research method is qualitative descriptive. Data collection used observation, interview, and documentation. Data analysis techniques used according to Miles and Huberman and then triangulation of the results of observation, interview, and documentation. The results showed that the questioning skills of class XI even semester 2018/2019 in SMA Nurul Iman Palembang based on Bloom Taxonomy Revised Cognitive Process Dimensions through the Problem Based Learning model of  respiratory system dominated by the level cognitive C2 (understanding) with 26 questions and written question with 24 questions. This showed that the questioning skills of class XI in SMA Nurul Iman Palembang through the Problem Based Learning model still relatively low

Abstract

TPS (think pair share) commonly called the methods of teaching and learning to think, pair,and share. This model gives students the opportunity to learn and work independently of eachother. Models TPS (think pair share) has three steps, namely think, pair, and share. Each ofthe steps have a strategy that will allow the students to learn. The aim of the study was todetermine the effect of Think Pair Share toward student’ s learning interest result on thebiological at grade VII of MTs Negeri 1 Palembang for academic years on 2016/2017. Themethod was true experimental design with Posttest-Only Control Design type. The populationin this research were all students of seventh grade of MTs Negeri 1 Palembang on 2016/2017academic year. The sample was taken by using Cluster Random sampling. The sample wasstudents as experiment class at grade VIIC and students as a control class at grade VIIB. Theinstrument of the study was the questionairre. The data analysis used t-test, and obtained ttest= 2,922 of significant 0,05 that ttable = 1,667, so it can be concluded that by t-test> t-tablemeans that alternative hypothesis was accepted. Based on the results of this study concludedthat the learning model TPS (think pair share) increase interest in studying biology on thetopic of the interaction of living things and the environment in the seventh grade students ofMTs Negeri 1 Palembang in Academic Year 2016/2017

Abstract

Sweeteners are one of the components which are often added to foodstuffs. Synthetic sweetenersare widely used in the society is sodium cyclamate. The purpose of this study was to determine thesodium cyclamate on the histological structure of the glomerulus of mice (Mus musculus). Thisresearch used 12 male mice (Mus musculus) with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) so thereare 4 groups (control, PI: 0,55 mg/grbb, p2: 1,1 mg/grbb, and p3: 1,65 mg/grbb) with 3 replicationsfor 24 days. Parameters observed were edema and comparison of area glomerulus with Bowmancapsule. The result showed that sodium cyclamate had effect to edema and tended to areaglomerulus with Bowman capsule comparization. Based on the research could be concluded thatsodium cyclamate had effect to renal histopathology. This research will be used as media inlearning process.

Abstract

The ability of critical thinking is very important to have. If the students have an ability of critical thinking, they students can solve the problems that facing them on the lesson study especially biology. Based on that problem, the writer was conducted a research which have the aim to know the difference between the ability of male students’ and female students’ critical thinking on blood circulation system material in biology lesson of XI MIPA MAN 1 Banyuasin. This research was conducted on july 17, 2018 At XI MIPA class of MAN 1 Banyuasin. This research was descriptive analysis research. The subject of this research was the students of XI MIPA 1, XI MIPA 2, XI MIPA 3 XI MIPA 4 of MAN 1 Banyuasin with the total of the students are 157 students. Data analyzing technique used probability sampling technique that is proportionate stratified random sampling with descriptive analysis method, the result of this research showed that the ability of male students’ critical thinking are low with the average 13.15. The ability of female students’ critical thinking are high with the average 14.05. There is the difference between the ability of male studets’ and female students’ critical thinking. In conclusion, the ability of female students’ critical thinking is higher than male student’s in MAN 1 Banyuasin.

Abstract

Biolarvicide is the larvicide derived from plants and relatively safe. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of pletekan leaf powder (Ruellia tuberosa), mimosa (Mimosa pudica), papaya (Carica papaya), and guava (Psidium guajava) on Culex quiquefasciatus larval mortality. The method was an experimental with a completely randomized design consisted of 5 treatments (0 gr, 0,25 gr, 0,5 gr, 0,75 gr, and 1 gr) and 5 repetitions for each plant. The data were analyzed by analysis of variance. Based on the results, leaf powder used in the study, namely guava leaves powder (1 gr), mimosa (1 gr), leaves of pletekan (1 gr), and leaves of papaya (1 gr) showed a very significant effect (P < 0,05) on Culex quiquefasciatus larval mortality. It can be concluded that the pletekan, mimosa, papaya, and guava had the potential as biolarvicide of Culex quinquefasciatus.

Abstract

PBL is a teaching method that can help students understand the subject matter and improve their problem-solving abilities. The purpose of this study is to see how the problem-based learning (PBL) model affects students' problem-solving abilities with reproductive system material. This is a pre-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design. Non-probability sampling is used, along with total sampling. The research sample consisted of 39 students from Class XI. The data collection technique used pretest and posttest instruments, and the data analysis technique used was the One-Sample KS Test, with an average pretest result of 23.08 with a significance of 0.00, a posttest average of 85.18 with a significance of 0.03, and an average N-Gain of 0.81 with a significance of 0.01 as evidenced by statistical analysis, which states that the data significance is 0.05, indicating that Problem Based Learning has an effect.

Abstract

Zingiberaceae is a family of spice plants that are commonly found in the Sriwijaya Botanical Gardens, this type of plant is often used as medicine, cooking spices, ornamental plants and hair medicine. Families of Zingiberaceae are still not well identified. This study aims to determine the species of the Zingiberaceae families in the Sriwijaya Botanical Gardens. This research uses descriptive qualitative research and uses the method of exploring the location in the Kebun Raya Sriwijaya. The identification results obtained six species of plant species from the Zingiberaceae family, namely galangal: Alpinia galanga (L.) Wild., yellow turmeric: Curcuma longa L., kencur: Kaempferia galanga L., white turmeric: Curcuma zeodaria (Christem.) Roscoe., ginger white : Zingiber officinale var. amrum., and forest galangal : Alpinia malaccensis.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of audio visual use on students' mastery concepts. The type of research is quasi experiment . The design of this research is Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study are students of class VIII SMP. The sample of this research VIII.A class as experimental class and VIII.B class as control class chosen by purposive sampling. In the learning process, the experimental class is taught by using Audio visual media in the form of video and control class is taught with power point media (PPT). Data retrieval uses conception master test with multiple choice form which has been tested for its validity and reliability. Quantitative data were obtained from the average pretest, posttest, and N-gain values analyzed using t-test. Result of research of hypothesis test of Posttest data shows that value of Sig = 0,037 <0,05. While the value of t-arithmetic = 2, 152> t-table = 1.684. The average value of N-gain Pretest-Posttest experimental class is 0.67 classified, while the average value of N-gain Pretest-Posttest control class is 0.57 including medium category. Based on the results of the study can be concluded that the application of audio visual media in the form of video significantly influence the mastery of students' concepts on the material of human digestive system in VIII class. Abstract

This research aims to determine whether the learning model Attainment Concept Model (CAM) effect against High School Students Critical Thinking Skills. This research uses quasi- experimental method with Pretest - Posttest Research Design Control Group Design . Sampling is done by saturated sampling technique. The sample of this research is X.1 dan X.2 class of science group study. The results showed that there are differences in critical thinking ability at animalia material. Improvement Critical thinking ability can be seen in the results before using learning model indicator that are Analysis, Evaluation, Inference (Conclusion), Explanation, Self regulation are 36%, 37%, 41 %, 45%, and 46 %. After using Learning Model on the indicator interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference (conclusion), explanation, Self-regulation (setting themselves) are 80%, 84%, 85%, 85%, 83% and 84%. The results showed that learning model can enhance students critical thinking ability. The results of the statistics obtained tarithmetic = 3.474 and ttable = 1.666 with df (degrees of freedom) by 73 with a significant level of 5%, therefore tarithmetic > ttable is 3.474> 1.666 and 0.001 significance value> 0.05. Based on the hypothesis test, it can be concluded that the influence of learning model Concept Attainment Model on students’ critical thinking skills for X class. Abstract

This study aims to determine the benefits of school environment as a source of learning on the Plantae material (Spermatophyta) by using contextual learning on the activities of high school students of high school. This research used descriptive research type. Sampling in this research is done by purposive sampling technique (purposive sampling) considering student ability and activity in various class samples. Research sample in this research is class X MIPA. This research was conducted for three meetings with assessment instrument in the form of observation sheet which will be assessed by 5 (five) observers. The observation sheets are activity observation sheets, student attitudes and skills as well as individual student final reports. The results of this study indicate that the activities of students including active category (B) with 82% percentage of assessment. Likewise the attitude of students who belong to either category (B) with the same percentage of assessment. Another case with the skills of students who are classified as excellent (A) with a higher percentage of assessment that is 89%. Meanwhile, in the final report students individually more than 50% of students category is very good (A) with the percentage of students overall 83.8% which indicates the final report of students done with good category (B). If accumulated as a whole the percentage of assessment of each instrument is 84.42% with good category with the predicate B. Therefore, the school environment can be utilized as a source of biology learning especially Spermatophyta material by using contextual learning model.
