Abstract

Peatlands are one of the ecosystems that have a very high biodiversity of flora and fauna both. One animal that has an abundant amount in peatlands are insects. This is a descriptive qualitative study conducted in october carried on peatland in District Lalan Banyuasin district. Catching insects is done by using sthe sweep net, pitfaal traps and light traps in the risearch results in the identification of UIN Raden Fatah Biology Laboratory Palembang insect species diversity index (H) were analyzed using the Shannon-Weiner calculations. The results of this study indicate that insects are caught in Peatland consists of 93 individual 6 Family and 12 species. Insects that dominates in Peatlands District of Lalan Musi Banyuasin is Atractomorpha crenulata , Oxyachinensis and Valanga nigricornis , and insects that have the fewest number is Stagmomantis carolina , blatta orientali ( L ) and Periplenata americana ( L ). The Shannon diversity index values insect - Weiner ( H ) shows the value of 1.62 which means that the diversity of insect species that exist in Peatlands ( medium ).

Abstract

Snail and rice water has a very high protein content so the snail meat and rice water can be used as an additional food that is good for eel. Giving snail and rice water as a feed supplement in the eel (Monopterus albus) is expected to boost growth in the eel. This study aimed to determine the effect of snails and rice water on the growth of eel (Monopterus albus) and know Where feed to get optimal results on the growth of eel (Monopterus albus). Research conducted at the Laboratory of MIPA IAIN Raden Fatah Palembang. This study used a Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) with 4 treatments and 6 replications. Such treatment is A : pellets 4.5 grams, B : 150 ml of rice water + 3 grams of snail, C : 100 ml rice water + 3.5 grams of snail, D : 50 ml rice water + 4 grams of snail. The analysis showed that the highest growth in treatment D is 50 ml rice water + 4 grams of snail. The conclusion is giving snail and rice water in the eel (Monopterus albus) significant effect on the growth of the body's weight and length of the eel.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan protein, karbohidrat dan lemak dan manakah kandungan nutrisi yang paling tinggi pada maggot BSF (Hermetia illucens) di Kalidoni Kota Palembang serta menghasilkan media pembelajaran biologi yang digunakan sebagai referensi pada materi insecta. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan Februari 2020. Jenis penelitian ini kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini yaitu maggot BSF pada tahap larva dan sampel penelitian ini adalah larva maggot BSF pada tahap instar VI. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini yaitu dengan menggunakan metode kjeldahl, soxhlet, dan by different. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kuantitatif berupa presentase dan rata�rata yang ditampilkan dalam bentuk tabel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai kandungan protein sebesar 49,67%, kandungan karbohidrat sebesar 0,18% dan kandungan lemak sebesar 21,17%. Dimana protein adalah kandungan nutrisi yang paling tinggi. Sumbangsih pada penelitian ini berupa buku ensiklopedia insekta yang digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran biologi di SMA/MA.Kata kunci : Maggot Black Soldier Fly (Hermetia illucens), Protein, Karbohidrat, Lemak.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine an effective method between the concept map and the concept dichotomy chart (BDK) of biodiversity on student learning outcomes. The methodology used is Quasi experimental design using the design of The Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The data collection techniques used were interviews, tests and documentation. Quantitative data analysis used SPSS Version 22. The results showed that there was a significant difference between before and after treatment with the Concept Map and Concept Dichotomy Chart (CDC) with an average Concept Map of 71,07 and CDC 94,28. All categories showed a significant increase after treatment. In this study it is said that the Sig. (2 tailed) is less than 0.05 (0.000 <0.05) then Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. So it is concluded that the learning outcomes of Biology taught using the Concept Map and Concept Dichotomy Chart (CDC) learning method on biodiversity material can be used to improve learning outcomes, especially students' mastery of concepts.

Abstract

Abstrak Tanaman cabai merupakan jenis sayuran penting yang banyak dibutuhkan oleh masyarakat. Namun, berdasarkan data Badan Pusat Statistik menunjukkan bahwa produksi cabai mengalami penurunan yang salah satunya disebabkan oleh Colletotrichum capsici. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian ekstrak daun sirih terhadap pertumbuhan C. capsici. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 3 kali pengulangan. Proses ekstraksi daun sirih dilakukan dengan metode maserasi dengan pelarut etanol 96% dan uji antifungi dilakukan dengan metode difusi Kirby-Bauer. Konsentrasi ekstrak daun sirih yang digunakan adalah 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, dan kontrol negatif menggunakan dimetil sulfoksida (DMSO). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis secara statistik menggunakan uji One-Way Anova dan uji lanjut Least Significant Difference (LSD). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi ekstrak daun sirih 20% menghasilkan zona hambat terbesar, yaitu 0,84 mm. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian disimpulkan bahwa ekstrak daun sirih memiliki aktivitas antifungi dalam menekan pertumbuhan C. capsici.AbstractChili plants are important vegetables normally used by the community. However, based on the data of Badan Pusat Statistik, chili production is decreasing because of many factors, including Colletotrichum capsici pathogen. This study was aimed to determine the effect of betel leaf extract on the growth of C. capsici. This research was conducted using a completely randomized design with 3 replications. The extraction process was carried out by the maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent and the antifungal test was performed by the Kirby-Bauer diffusion method. The concentration of betel leaf extract used was 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) was used as the negative control. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using the One-Way Anova test and the Least Significant Difference (LSD) posthoc test. The results of this study showed that the concentration of 20% betel leaf extract produced the largest inhibition zone of 0.84 mm. Based on the test results, it is concluded that betel leaf extract had antifungal activity in suppressing the growth of C. capsici.

Abstract

World Health Organization (WHO) noted that Indonesia was the country with the highest cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in Southeast Asia. Control efforts include vector observation and monitoring, one of which is larvicides. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Apu-apu (Pistia stratiotes) leaf extract to inhibit the growth of the third instar larvae of the Aedes aegypti. The design of this study was Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The treatment in this study was repeated 3 times using 4 treatments (negative control treatment, given extract of 10 ml, 30 ml, 50 ml). The results showed that Apu-apu leaf extract had different effects on each test concentration (10ml, 30ml and 50ml). The higher the concentration, the greater mortality of Aedes aegypti larvae. ANOVA test showed that Apu-apu leaf extract (Pistia stratiotes) had an effect with the F=94.667, p= 0,000 on larvae mortality. The ability of Apu-apu leaf extract to kill larvae in LC50 value was 4.0% per minute, analyzed using probit regression. P. stratiotes could be an effective larvicide against A. aegypti third instar larvae (p=0,000).

Abstract

Mitokondria merupakan salah satu organel berperan penting dalam sistem organisme. Mitokondria memiliki fungsi yang beragam dan saling berhubungan, menghasilkan ATP, berperan pada proses biosintetik juga berkontribusi pada respons stres seluler seperti autofagi dan apoptosis. Mitokondria membentuk jaringan dinamis dan saling berhubungan yang terintegrasi erat dengan kompartemen seluler lainnya. Selain itu, fungsi mitokondria mempengaruhi fisiologi organisme dengan mengatur komunikasi antara sel dan jaringan. Oleh karena itu tidak mengherankan bahwa disfungsi mitokondria muncul sebagai faktor kunci dalam berbagai penyakit, termasuk gangguan neurodegeneratif dan metabolisme. Proses regenerasi sel mitokondria sangat mempengaruhi keberlangsungan dan fungsi mitokondria dalam kehidupan sel.

Abstract

Papaya plant is a plant originating from America with the scientific name Carica papaya. Papaya seeds contain flavonoids, glucotropaeolin, and phosphatidyl choline. Flavonoids are chemical compounds that have insecticidal properties. Flavonoids attack the nerves in several vital organs of insects, causing a weakening of the nerves, such as breathing and causing death. This study aims to examine the effect of papaya seed extract (Carica papaya) on the mortality of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae and to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration of papaya (Carica papaya) seed extract required against Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae. The Aedes aegypti mosquito has a complete metamorphosis, and when it is in the larval stage, the Aedes aegypti mosquito has 4 phases, namely instar I, instar II, instar III, and instar IV larvae. The larvae used in this study were the larvae of the third instar Aedes aegypti mosquito. The research method used is a laboratory experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) where there are 4 treatments and 3 repetitions. The concentrations used in this study were 1 positive control, 10 ml, 30 ml, and 50 ml. The results were analyzed by One way ANOVA test followed by Post-Hoc LSD analysis. The results of the research that has been carried out show that the papaya seed extract (Carica papaya) which kills the most Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae is at a concentration of 50 ml, where in the first and second tests succeeded in killing 4 out of 5 larvae. In the last iteration managed to kill 5 out of 5 larvae. And it can also be seen that the minimum inhibitory concentration is at a concentration of 10 ml, where in 3 repetitions it can only kill 2 to 3 larvae from a total of 5 larvae. The 50 ml concentration is also the concentration that has the fastest effect, where on the fifth spray alone, there are already dead mosquitoes. While at a concentration of 10 ml, it takes a longer time, namely the seventh spray.
