Abstract

Salah satu pengalaman subyektif terpenting bagi manusia adalah waktu. Para eksistensialis menyatakan bahwa manusia adalah makhluk (being) yang ada dalam hubungannya dengan waktu dan tempat tertentu, serta makna tertentu. Waktu merupakan elemen dari eksistensi manusia, yang mendasari dan mengatur perilaku sosial individu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perspektif waktu (time perspective) terhadap kualitas relasi sosial. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah 96 mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan skala Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory dan Positive Relations with Others. Perspektif waktu meliputi lima dimensi, yaitu Past-Positive, Past-Negative, Present-Hedonistic, Present-Fatalistic dan Future. Analisis data menggunakan multiple regression. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelima dimensi perspektif waktu secara bersama-sama berpengaruh terhadap kualitas relasi sosial. Secara parsial, dimensi Past- Positive dan Future berpengaruh signifi kan terhadap kualitas relasi sosial.

Abstract

Abstract — Development of entertainment feature over the internet gives some positive and negative impacts for the users. One of the negative outcomes is the over engagement in the excessive use of online games that create psychological, social, school and work difficulties in a person’s life is known as Problematic Online Game Use  (POGU). This research aimed to explore the correlation between parenting style and Problematic Online Game Use  (POGU). The participants for this research are 200 Indonesian adolescents, ranging from 14 to 24 years old. The term POGU in this research was based on the study conducted by Kim and Kim (2010). An Indonesian version of Problematic Online Game Use Scale and questionnaire to measure parenting style were employed to collect the data. The results of this study indicated that there was a significant relationship between authoritative parenting and POGU, whereas no significant relationship was found between the other three types of parenting, namely: authoritarian, permissive, and neglected to POGU. This study showed higher tendency of Problematic Online Game Use among adolescents with authoritative type of parenting, compared with authoritarian, permissive, and neglected type of parenting. Abstrak — Fitur hiburan yang berkembang seiring dengan perkembangan internet memberikan dampak positif dan negative terhadap penggunanya. Salah satu dampak negatifnya ialah munculnya perilaku bermain game online sampai batas ia menciptakan dampak psikologis, sosial, sekolah, dan bekerja sehingga menimbulkan kesulitan dalam kehidupan seseorang dikenal dengan istilah Problematic Online Game Use (POGU). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat apakah ada hubungan antara pola asuh yang diberikan orang tua pada remaja dengan  Problematic Online Game Use (POGU). Partisipan penelitian ini adalah remaja Indonesia yang berusia 14-24 tahun, sebanyak 200 orang. POGU dalam penelitian ini dilihat dari sudut pandang teori Kim dan Kim (2010). Alat ukur yang digunakan adalah Problematic Online Game Use Scale yang diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Indonesia serta alat ukur pola asuh yang diadopsi dari penelitian Chandi (2007). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada hubungan yang signifikan antara pola asuh authoritative dan POGU, sedangkan tidak ditemukan hubungan yang signifikan antara tiga tipe pola asuh lainnya yaitu authoritarian, permissive, dan neglected  dengan POGU. Penelitian ini menunjukkan tingginya kecenderungan Problematic Online Game Use pada remaja dengan pola asuh authoritative, dibandingkan dengan pola asuh authoritarian, permissive, dan neglected.

Abstract

One important and basic aspect of human subjective experience is time.Existentialists stated that humans are beings who exist in relation to a specific time andplace, and specific meaning. Time is an element of human existence, which underlies and regulate individual social behavior. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of time perspective on quality of social relation. Participants were 96 undergraduate students. This study used Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory and Positive Relation with Others scales. The ZTPI contains five dimensions: Past-Positive, Past-Negative, Present-Hedonistic, Present-Fatalistic and Future. Data analysis used multiple regression. The result showed there was effect of five dimensions of time perspective on quality of social relation. Dimensions of Past-Positive and Future partially had significant effect on quality of social relation.

Abstract

The present study explored the relationship between collective self-esteem and cultural orientation. It was hypothesized that one’s collective self-esteem or one’s judgment of being a member of one’s ethnic group would predict their cultural orientation. Collective self-esteem or one’s judgment of one being a member of one’s ethnic group had 4 dimensions: private, public, membership and importance; cultural orientation also had 4 dimensions: horizontal individualism, horizontal collectivism, vertical individualism, and vertical collectivism. One-hundred and fifty-nine students participated in the present study. Public collective self-esteem positively predicted horizontal individualism (β = .217) and vertical individualism (β = .224); private collective self-esteem positively predicted vertical collectivism, (β = .273) and negatively predicted vertical individualism (β = -.234). Cultural factors, particular to the Indonesian context, need to be taken into account in regard to interpreting the collected data.

Abstract

The social stigma of unemployment during the COVID-19 pandemic related to problems of marginalization. This study explores the construction of the meaning of the social stigma of unemployment in United States online media. This study is a comparative study to compare the construction of the meaning of social stigma between online media usa.today and nbcwashington.com with Entman's framing analysis. The problem formulated through framing is that social stigma makes it difficult for unemployed people to get a job, and stigma creates feelings of inferiority. The cause of the social stigma is the perception of low personal qualities and stigma consciousness. Framing moral judgment is a negative perception in employers' minds and the feeling of shame due to unemployment. Countermeasure suggestion is a wide distribution of vaccines and suggestions about ways to find work. Online media can contribute as agents of change through news framing to improve public perceptions and provide informational support.

Abstract

One of the emerging concepts in occupational health psychology today is work engagement. The present study investigates work engagement among generation Y and its correlation to mindfulness. Work engagement is positive, fulfilling, work-related state of mind that is characterized by vigor, dedication, and absorption. Mindfulness is present moment awareness with an observing and non-judging stance. This is the first study to examine the correlation between mindfulness and work engagement among generation Y, specifically in Indonesia. Participants of this study are 251 male and female generation Y working in some cities across Indonesia. They are 18 to 36 years old and they are varied in educational background as well as in job tenures. Data is gathered using two scales, namely Utrecht Work Engagement Scale and Mindful Attention Awareness Scale. Regression analysis reported that mindfulness contributes 2 percent to work engagement. Mindfulness is found to relate positively with work engagement (r= .142). Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat hubungan antara gratitude dengan loneliness pada remaja yang tinggal di panti asuhan. Loneliness adalah fenomena subjektif dimana terjadi penurunan hubungan sosial seseorang dengan diikuti perasaan tidak menyenangkan atau menyedihkan. Gratitude merupakan suatu perasaan menyenangkan yang khas, yang timbul ketika seseorang menerima kebaikan, manfaat atau bantuan altruistik dari orang lain, terutama pada hal-hal yang sesungguhnya tidak layak diterima ataupun bukan dari upaya diri sendiri. Partisipan pada penelitian ini sebanyak 98 orang yang merupakan remaja yang tinggal di panti asuhan dengan usia 12-21 tahun yang berada di Jakarta Timur, Jakarta Selatan, Jakarta Pusat, dan Tangerang. Teknik pengambilan sampel pada penelitian ini merupakan purposive sampling. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah UCLA Loneliness Scale version 3 yang berisi 20 item untuk mengukur loneliness dan Gratitude Questionaire Six (GQ-6) yang berisi 6 item untuk mengukur gratitude. Hasil penelitian ini yaitu terdapat hubungan negatif antara gratitude dengan loneliness pada remaja yang tinggal di panti asuhan. Hal tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa semakin tinggi gratitude pada remaja yang tinggal di panti asuhan, semakin rendah loneliness yang dimilikinya atau semakin rendah gratitude pada remaja yang tinggal di panti asuhan, maka semakin tinggi loneliness yang dialami.

Abstract

Basically, development is not only about material aspect, but also human aspect. It needs other indicators to achieve welfare. Happiness can be used as a tool to achieve welfare. The rise in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) must be balanced by the increase of Gross National Happiness (GNH). The indicators of GNH are: (1) Life security such as sufficient piece of land, permanent house, and enough food; (2) Physical and mental health; (3) Supportive family where a person lives with all family member, has a job, and there is compassion and understanding; (4) Strong community, (5) Good environment including prosperous land, enough water, animals, free poison area, street, drinking water, electricity; (6) Freedom including ability to do something without harm others, free from debt; (7) Self-pride including including succeed family, successful career; (8) Access to dharma; comprise of peaceful life, self-content, and help others. From the result of GNH scale testing, the coefficient alpha was obtained at 0.791. From testing 47 items, there were 31 valid items. These items were developed from GNH indicators. These indicators actually had been discussed in seminar on GNH at the Asian Institute of Technology. Overall these items are able to be implemented in Indonesia.

Abstract

The degeneration of functional organ is the common elderly problem. It includes cognitive and physical impairment. Besides the natural process as one of the causes, the researcher finds that this degeneration can be accelerated by the behavior of the older people in avoiding the daily activities, many of them do not feel confident to do such activities. The degeneration of functional organ is a natural process, but it can be perverted. One of the efforts to regenerate physical and cognitive function can be implemented through therapy, both physical therapy and virtual reality therapy. The both therapy closely relates to one of the sources self-efficacies; physiological state, it plays the role in health function and physical activities that requires both strength and stamina. In judging the physical ability, one can be affected by the information about his/her physical condition to face certain situation by examining his/her physiology. The older alzheimer patients are divided into three categories; those who receive physical therapy, those who receive virtual reality therapy and the rest who do not receive therapy. This research is conducted in one of the elderly home cares, which there are some older alzheimer patients who have received two programs of these therapies. The researcher is using qualitative study case method through observation and interview. The research shows that the subjects in the research have vary comprehension in seeing the abstract dimensions and self-efficacy sources.
