Abstract

Pyricularia oryzae is a fungus that causes blast disease in rice. Control of this disease usually uses synthetic pesticides, but pesticides have a negative impact on the enviroment and human health. Therefore, control that are enviromentally friendly and safe to apply are needed, using seeds extract of Jatropha curcas. The purpose of this study were to determine the ability of Jatropha seed extract and to determine the optimum concentration of Jatropha seed extract in inhibiting the growth of Pyricularia oryzae in vitro. The research was conducted at Hall Crop Protection South Sumatra. Jatropha seeds powder was extracted with maceration method using ethanol 96%. Antifungal test was done by using a modification of agar diffusion method by using cork choler and the concentration used were 0% (v/v), 25% (v/v), 50% (v/v), and 100% (v/v). Data obtained were growth diameters of fungus Pyricularia oryzae and analyzed by ANSIRA and BNT test. The results showed that Jatropha seed extract can inhibit the growth of Pyricularia oryzae in vitro. The optimum concentration of Jatropha seed extract was 100% with the smallest growth diameter average of the fungus 3,66 cm and the biggest inhibition percentage 59,3%.

Abstract

Writing scientific articles is important for teachers to increase professionalism. Every time you teach in class, there are certainly many problems that can be researched and produce written work. The service method is carried out using the lecture method, followed by the practice of writing articles using AI assistance. As a result of service activities, teachers gain knowledge and skills in writing scientific articles. They are enthusiastic about using AI in creating articles.The Community Service Program (PPM) for article writing was conducted at SMP N 1 Muaro Jambi, involving 28 teachers from various subject areas. The training began with the presentation of materials, followed by practical sessions and a Q&A segment. The teachers were enthusiastic about participating in the training, particularly in utilizing AI to assist in writing articles. Abstrak. Penulisan artikel ilmiah penting bagi guru untuk meningkatkan profesionalisme. Setiap kali mengajar dikelas tentu banyak persoalan yang dapat diteliti dan menghasilkan sebuah karya  tulis. Metode pengabdian dilaksanakan dengan metode ceramah, dilanjutkan dengan praktek penulisan artikel dengan menggunakan bantuan AI. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian guru-guru memperoleh pengatahuan dan keterampilan dalam menulis artikel ilmiah. Mereka antusias dalam menggunakan AI dalam membuat artikel. Kegiatan PPM penulisan artikel dilaksanakan di SMP N 1 Muaro Jambi yang diikuti oleh 28 orang guru dari bermacam bidang studi. Pelatihan diawali dengan pemaparan materi, praktek, dan tanya jawab. Guru-guru antusias mengikuti pelatihan, terutama dalam penggunaan AI untuk membantu penulisan artikel.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effectiveness of the integrated Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model with the Flipped Classroom approach on students’ problem-solving skills in biology learning for Grade XI Phase F at SMAN 1 Kota Jambi. The main issue addressed in this research is the suboptimal implementation of the PBL model in the classroom due to limited instructional time. This study employed a quasi-experimental design using the nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The research was conducted at SMAN 1 Kota Jambi during the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year. The population consisted of Grade XI Phase F students, with Class XI F2 assigned as the experimental group and Class XI F7 as the control group, selected through purposive sampling and random sampling techniques. Data were collected using observation sheets and essay test instruments. The research data were analyzed using a One-Way ANCOVA test. The results indicated a significant difference between the experimental and control groups based on the One-Way ANCOVA test results [F(1,69) = 53.941, p < 0.001, ηp² = 0.439]. The obtained Partial Eta Squared value of 0.439 demonstrates a significant difference between the integrated Problem-Based Learning with Flipped Classroom model and the conventional Problem-Based Learning model. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the integration of the Problem-Based Learning model with the Flipped Classroom approach is effective in enhancing the problem-solving skills of Grade XI Phase F students at SMAN 1 Kota Jambi.

Abstract

Keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi atau Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) penting dikuasai mahasiswa untuk menghadapi berbagai tantangan abad 21. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas penerapan model pembelajaran learning cycle 7E dalam meningkatkan HOTS mahasiswa pada materi anatomi tumbuhan. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen menggunakan rancangan one-group pre-test and post-test design dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 32 mahasiswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan test essay, sementara analisis data menggunakan uji paired sample t-test and Cohen’s d formula. Hasil penelitian mengindikasikan bahwa model pembelajaran learning cycle 7E berpengaruh signifikan [t(31) = 33.66, p < 0.001] terhadap peningkatan HOTS mahasiswa dengan kategori tinggi (d = 3,81). Oleh sebab itu, model learning cycle 7E efektif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS) mahasiswa pada materi anatomi tumbuhan.

Abstract

Berpikir kreatif adalah keterampilan untuk menciptakan ide-ide baru, orisinil, dan inovatif yang berbeda dari pola pikir pada umumnya. Kemampuan ini penting dimiliki oleh peserta didik, tidak hanya untuk memperkaya pengalaman belajarnya, tetapi juga untuk memecahkan berbagai masalah selama proses pembelajaran. Model pembelajaran Outcome Based Education (OBE) menekankan pada kegiatan pembelajaran yang berpusat pada peserta didik, dengan sistem penilaian yang menekankan pada kinerja peserta didik berdasarkan capaian pembelajaran yang meliputi aspek sikap (afektif), pengetahuan (kognitif), dan keterampilan (psikomotorik). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji penerapan model OBE dan pengaruhnya terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif melalui studi literatur. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi literatur. Berdasarkan berbagai temuan yang dianalisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Project Based Learning (PBL) terbukti lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa jika dibandingkan dengan pendekatan pembelajaran lainnya di lingkungan sekolah.

Critical thinking is the process of thinking clearly and logically when evaluating information. It involves using cognitive abilities to identify, analyse and evaluate information in order to solve problems and draw the right conclusions. This study aims to analyse the impact of implementing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) and Inquiry Learning models alongside a deep learning approach on critical thinking skills in environmental studies. The research used a quasi-experimental design with a non-randomised control group pretest-posttest. The study's participants were 61 pupils selected through purposive sampling. Critical thinking skills were measured using an essay test based on the following six Ennis indicators: Focus, Reason, Inference, Situation, Clarity, and Overview. The data were analysed using One Way ANOVA. The results showed no significant difference in critical thinking skills (F(1, 29) = 0.022, p = 0.883, ηp² = 0.001). Abstract

In the 21st century, scientific literacy is essential for students to face the complexity of global problems that require scientific understanding in decision-making. PISA data shows Indonesia's low scientific literacy. In 2018, it ranked 74th out of 79 countries with a score of 396 (40% of students only reached level 1), and in 2022, it dropped to 69th out of 81 countries with a score of 383 (34% of students at the elementary level). Less than 1% of Indonesian students reached levels 5-6 in both periods. Efforts to optimize scientific literacy were carried out by implementing a case-based learning (CBL) model integrated with the teaching at the right level (TaRL) approach. A quasi-experimental study was conducted at SMAN 1 Kota Jambi with the topic of the immune system using a non-randomized pretest-posttest control group design. The sample was selected using purposive sampling in grade XI, consisting of an experimental class (CBL-TaRL, n=36) and a control class (CBL, n=36). The results showed that the average score of the experimental class increased from 54.17 to 85.28, while the control class increased from 50.69 to 68.61. The one-way ANCOVA test showed a significant difference [F(1,69)=27.560, p<0.001, ηp²=0.28] with a large effect size. Students taught using CBL-TaRL had a higher increase in scientific literacy, especially in the aspects of analyzing scientific phenomena (36%) and designing scientific investigations (34%).

Abstract

In the era of 21st-century education, higher education institutions are expected not only to transmit knowledge but also to cultivate students’ Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). One promising approach to achieving this goal is integrating local wisdom into the learning process through the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model. This study aimed to explore Jambi’s local wisdom through PjBL and analyze its impact on students' HOTS achievement. The research employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent pre-test and post-test experimental group design. The sample consisted of 27 Biology Education students at the University of Jambi, selected through purposive sampling. HOTS were measured using multiple-choice tests for analyzing and evaluating skills, and a holistic assessment rubric for the creating skill. Students’ HOTS scores were analyzed using a paired-sample t-test, while the effect size was calculated using Cohen’s d. The results showed that the exploration of Jambi’s local wisdom through project-based learning had a large effect on improving students’ HOTS, as indicated by the t-test results [t(20) = 23.972; p < 0.001; d = 5.2]. The greatest improvement occurred in the creating indicator (49.22%), followed by evaluating (31.48%) and analyzing (20.14%). These findings indicate that integrating Jambi’s local wisdom into the PjBL model is effective in developing students’ HOTS and supports contextual learning aligned with the principles of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). Therefore, project-based learning that incorporates local wisdom can serve as a transformational strategy in curriculum development that meets the demands of 21st-century skills.

Abstract

Independent learning is a key 21st-century competency that students still lack, requiring innovative learning strategies. The implementation of the flipped classroom is believed to increase students' independent learning. This study aims to analyze the effect of the flipped classroom learning model on independent learning in the 21st century. This study is a literature review that relies on sources published between 2020 and 2025, all of which are academic journals. All articles listed have been accredited to a minimum standard of SINTA 5. The literature search was conducted through Google Scholar by typing the keywords “flipped classroom” and “learning independence.” The articles obtained were analyzed in depth and the results were described using tabulation. From the results of the literature analysis, it was concluded that the Flipped Classroom has an effect on student learning independence and can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Abstract:  The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of differentiated learning on the learning outcomes of 21st century students through a literature review. This study uses a literature method from journals that have the subject of differentiated learning. The results of the literature show that differentiated learning can improve various aspects of student learning outcomes such as critical thinking skills, creativity, cognitive learning outcomes, learning motivation, and problem solving. It is concluded that the application of this learning has a positive impact on improving student learning outcomes in the 21st century.Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk menilai efektivitas pembelajaran berdiferensiasi terhadap hasil belajar siswa abad ke-21 melalui tinjauan literatur. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode literatur dari jurnal yang memiliki pokok bahasan pembelajaran berdifernsiasi. Hasil dari literatur menunjukkan pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dapat meningkatkan berbagai aspek hasil belajar siswa seperti kemampuan berpikir kritis, kreatifitas, hasil belajar kognitif, motivasi belajar, dan problem solving. Disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran ini berdampak positif terhadap peningkatan hasil belajar siswa di abad ke-21.
