The research method that will be used in this paper is historical research methods with a qualitative approach. NU's exit from Masyumi had its own political impact on Indonesia. NU which eventually became a new political party with quite good behavior in the 1955 elections, until the Masyumi organization was banned from operating in various regions and the PRRI rebellion occurred.

Abstract

The ecological crisis in Indonesia is driven not only by the exploitation of natural resources but also by an anthropocentric worldview that separates humans from nature. In this context, the Koda Kirin cosmology of the Lamaholot people introduces the concept of Rera-wulan Tana-ekan, which views the sky, the earth, and humanity as a single relational unity. This study aims to analyze the Koda Kirin cosmology and the teachings on nature conservation passed down through oral traditions and customary practices of the Lamaholot community as the foundation of local eco-theology. The research employs a qualitative method with an ethnohistorical approach—that is, an ethnic historical study that reconstructs past social events through both social facts (sociographic) and mental facts (mentifacts) of the community. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, focus group discussions (FGDs), and literature review. Oral traditions, customary narratives, and customary practices were analyzed as mental facts and social facts representing collective memory. The research process began with the identification of key informants, field data collection, thematic analysis, and culminated in interpretive writing. This study aims to examine a model of nature conservation based on the traditional beliefs of the Lamaholot people. The results indicate that Rera-wulan Tana-ekan serves as the cosmological center of Lamaholot society, governing human relationships with the land, forests, and water through rituals, taboos, and communal mechanisms. They view environmental degradation as a violation against their ancestors that carries both ecological and social consequences. These findings confirm that Lamaholot eco-theology is a values-based conservation model that grows from collective consciousness and is relevant to sustainable development based on local wisdom. Furthermore, this study also contributes a novel perspective to nature conservation amidst the phenomenon of the ecological crisis.

Abstract

Abstract

This article explores the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in reshaping audiovisual historiography, a field that integrates historical inquiry with multimedia representation. This article employs a qualitative-descriptive approach to understand the strengths and limitations of applying artificial intelligence (AI) technology in audiovisual historiography. The primary data sources for this study are a comprehensive literature review of relevant scholarly articles and books, as well as data from the creation of short historical videos using the AI platform Invideo.Io. This article investigates how AI-based tools enable the curation, restoration, and reinterpretation of historical narratives. It also highlights key advancements in AI applications, including the automatic transcription of archival audiovisual material, deepfake-based reconstructions, and immersive virtual reconstructions of historical events. This article further examines the opportunities and challenges posed by these innovations. The findings indicate that AI technology can offer unprecedented accuracy, accessibility, and creative possibilities in historical storytelling. On the other hand, concerns regarding ethical misuse, historical distortion, and digital authenticity require a robust framework to ensure credibility and accountability. For example, the AI-generated historical videos from Invideo.Io have shortcomings related to accuracy and synchronization between visuals and factual narratives of historical events. The findings of this study illustrate that AI can democratize history and make it more accessible, provided that a robust ethical framework is in place. This article contributes to our understanding of how emerging technologies can shape the future of historical research and storytelling.

Abstract

In the late 19th century, various social resistance movements emerged among Javanese farmers one of these was the Sedulur Sikep, or Saminis movement, meanwhile the Dutch East Indies government carried out a propaganda campaign through colonial newspapers to create a negative stigma against these rebel groups. The objective of this study is to examine and analyze the paradigm and negative stigma toward the Samin movement established by the Dutch East Indies Government, which has persisted into the contemporary era, through the lens of Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of symbolic power. This study employs a historical method, utilizing primary sources from the Dutch East Indies period to examine the origins of this negative paradigm. The theory of symbolic power is applied to analyze how colonial discourse shaped public perception and marginalized the Samin Movement. Findings indicate that the colonial government employed symbolic power through mass media propaganda, instilling what can be understood as “mind control” to influence public attitudes by disseminating narratives that delegitimized the movement. This study highlights that the Saminis movement is an important example of nonviolent resistance, critical social consciousness, and a strong cultural identity. These historical values remain relevant in a contemporary context, particularly in addressing the stigma still attached to the Sedulur Sikep community. Therefore, this history can be integrated into culturally-based local history education to foster historical awareness, strengthen identity formation, and promote the development of inclusive and critical character among future generations.
