Abstract

Background: Sea kangkung is one of the plants used as traditional medicine which is widely used as a topical medicine, one of which is to treat jellyfish stings and ulcers. This study aims to determine how to formulate ointment preparations from sea kangkung extract and to test the physical properties of sea kangkung preparations. Methods: Sea kangkung leaves were extracted using the maceration method using methanol as a solvent and then made preparations in the form of an ointment using concentration variations, namely (F1) - , (F2) 1 % , (F3), 3 % (F4), 5 % (F5) 10 %. Furthermore, the physical stability test of the ointment was carried out, namely the Cycling Test including organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test and spreadability. Results: The results obtained that sea kangkung extract ointment has a fairly good stability based on the stability test of the third formula, which is the most stable preparation.

Abstract

Soil Transmissible Helminthiasis (STH) is still a public health problem in countries with tropical and sub-tropical climates, including Indonesia. The prevalence of worms in Indonesia currently ranges from 20-86 percent with an average of 30 percent. This frequently occurring disease really disrupts children's growth and development. Worm control efforts are directed at breaking the chain of transmission of worms, namely the toddler and school age groups, with 1 ) administer medicationmass prevention of worms in vulnerable groups to stop the spread of worm eggs from sufferers to the surrounding environment, 2) improving sanitation hygiene, and 3) cultivating clean and healthy living behavior through health promotion. Through this community service activity, socialization activities on the use and administration of worm medicine have been implemented. In Toddlers at Posyandu Bougenville IV, Tiban Baru. This activity is useful for children under five so that they always receive worm medicine and socialize and increase mothers' understanding about how important it is to give worm medicine to toddlers. Activities to socialize the use and administration of worm medicine to toddlers can increase public knowledge. Abstract

Vitamin A was the first fat-soluble vitamin to be discovered. This finding states that all retinoids and precursors/provitamin A/carotenoids have biological activity as retinol. Vitamin A plays an important role in children's growth and development. Vitamin A deficiency (KVA) increases the risk of developing infectious diseases such as diarrhea, pneumonia, pneumonia and even death. Another most serious consequence of vitamin A deficiency (KVA) is night blindness, which is another form of xeropthalmia such as damage to the cornea and blindness. Vitamin A can increase the body's resistance to infectious diseases such as measles, diarrhea and ARI and has a very important role in eye health.

Abstract

Firstly, COVID-19 was reported in Indonesia on March 2, 2020, in several cases. The latest data on April 23 2020, there were 15,331 confirmed cases with 120 deaths. COVID-19 cases in Batam City have started to increase in the last week. As of April 30, there have been five positive cases of COVID-19, and one person died. Tiban Baru is one of the area in the Batam City. Many people still do not understand self-isolation, especially when they have a history of contact with positive cases, have just returned or traveled outside the city, and have symptoms similar to COVID-19. Furthermore, they are still in contact with other family members. This will certainly expand the expansion of case transmission in households. This activities partner up with a village headman of Tiban Baru. The solution to the problem is education to the public about self-isolation for people in the assesment in handling COVID-19. Educations provided through the media of leaflets and masks donations to people affected by COVID-19. The purpose of this activity is to increase public knowledge about self-isolation efforts if they have symptoms similar to COVID-19 or contact with COVID-19 cases and improve hygiene in the community as an effort to prevent transmission of COVID-19

Abstract

Nyireh plant (Xylocarpus granatum J. Koenig) is a mangrove plant that can usually grow in tidal areas, river embankments, and along rivers. This plant is believed to be a traditional medicine in dealing with diarrhea disorders, wound cleansers and sun protectors. This study aims to determine the antibacterial and antifungal activity of the ethanol extract of nyireh leaves against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Sthapylococcus aureus and Candida albicans fungi. Nyireh leaf extract was prepared using the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. In testing the antibacterial and antifungal activity using the disc diffusion method with a concentration of 2%, 4%, 6%, positive control for bacteria (Tetracycline) positive control for fungi (Ketoconazole) and negative control (DMSO 5%). Research on the antibacterial and antifungal activity test of ethanol extract of nyireh leaves produced a strong inhibitory power at a concentration of 6%. In Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria concentration of 6% with an average concentration of 17.05 mm, Sthapylococcus aureus bacteria with an average concentration of 6% with an average of 22.95 mm and Candida albicans fungi at a concentration of 6% with an average of 11.88 mm. Potential as antibacterial and antifungal against the bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Sthapylococcus aureus and the fungus Candida albicans.

Abstract

Research on the effects of central nervous system stimulants from nutmeg (Myristica Fragrans H.) ethanol extract on male white mice has been carried out using the methods of: sleep onset test, hanging test, swimming test, and evacuation test. In this study, the test animals were divided into five groups in which each group consisted of three animals for three experiments, the first group was given a 0.5% NaC CMC suspention, the next three groups were given extracts of nutmeg seed ethanol (Myristica Fragrans H. ) with three variations of doses, namely 150, 300, and 600 mg / Kg BW, the next group as a comparison was given a caffeine solution of 13 mg / kg BW. Each preparation was given orally and then carried out a observation of several test methods. The results showed that the ethanol extract of nutmeg (Pala H.) can provide a good stimulant effect at a dose of 300 mg / kg BW (p <0.05) which was clearly seen in the swimming test and the hanging test method.

Abstract

Jotang (Sphagneticola trilobata) is a wild plant that has antibacterial potential. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of the n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol fractions of jotang leaf extract against Escherichia coli bacteria. Jotang leaves were extracted using methanol by maceration extraction method, followed by the fractionation stage using Liquid-Liquid Extraction method. The fractionation process uses n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol as solvents. Next step, each fraction was tested for antibacterial activity using the disc diffusion method. The concentrations of each fraction used were 200 µg/disc, 400 µg/disc, and 1000 µg/disc, positive control used chloramphenicol and negative control used DMSO 10%. The Result showed the most potential antibacterial activity of the active fraction from jotang leaves extract was the n-hexane fraction.
