Abstract

This study addresses the human dimension in Islam, which seeks to promote harmony and cooperation among people by encouraging mutual respect and working together for the common good. The significance of this topic lies in Islam’s emphasis on fostering good conduct, preserving the rights of neighbours, and promoting social solidarity, recognising that the concept of neighbourhood extends beyond simple proximity. The study highlights the importance of neighbourly rights as outlined in the Qur'an and Sunnah, illustrating how respecting these rights contributes to achieving social peace. It also discusses the consequences of neglecting these rights, including social fragmentation, weakened faith, and social unrest. The study employs an analytical approach to understand the texts and their implications, focusing on Quranic verses, Prophetic traditions, and relevant Islamic sources concerning neighbourly rights. It also draws on the methodology of Hadith scholars to assess the authenticity of the narrations when necessary, acknowledging that some narrations may be weak but do not reach the level of fabricated Hadiths, as the study focuses on values rather than legal rulings. The study concludes that safeguarding neighbourly rights, as stipulated in the Qur'an and Sunnah, is an essential part of Islamic ethics, whether for Muslims or non-Muslims. It stresses that neglecting these rights leads to social discord and weakens community ties. The study also highlights Islam's vital role in encouraging ethical behaviour, cooperation, and coexistence among individuals and nations. The conclusion reiterates that reform must begin with self-improvement, followed by family, and then extend to the broader community—an individual who is both good and reformative is better than one who is simply good.

Abstract

Coexistence among nations and peoples cannot be achieved in a context of isolation and avoidance of dialogue with others, whether at the individual, group, institutional, or state level. Dialogue helps to bridge perspectives and remove misunderstandings. While some speak of a "clash of civilizations," this notion arises from certain entrenched mindsets. A better approach would be to advocate for a "dialogue of civilizations," especially in a world fraught with violence and the collapse of traditional governance systems. Dialogue is vital, as it is a means of bringing peoples closer together. It is beneficial to understand the West's perspective on the Islamic world, as understanding the other's stance is essential. It is equally important to allow the other to know you, rather than forming prejudiced judgments that can lead to misunderstandings, potentially escalating to violence and war. This war could have been avoided if both parties had listened to each other and engaged in dialogue. This leads us to explore the reasons behind the existing tension and suggest practical means and a working strategy to bridge gaps between peoples. This study uses a descriptive and analytical approach to the current situation and history, based on facts and documents. The research findings indicate that the existing differences between the Islamic and Western worlds are due to negative perceptions of each other. Therefore, this study identifies several means to achieve coexistence, such as educational curricula, promoting the values of dialogue and acceptance of the other, avoiding double standards, and working on institutionalized dialogue.

Abstract

This study was conducted in response to the scarcity of Arabic research on psychotherapeutic interventions for schizophrenia compared to pharmacological treatments, which are more prevalent in Western societies. It thus represents a significant scientific contribution to this field. The study aims to enhance the social skills of individuals with schizophrenia and facilitate their reintegration into society through the implementation of a therapeutic program at Ibn Al-Hassan Psychiatric Hospital in Fez. A clinical case study approach was adopted, with a sample comprising three male patients diagnosed with schizophrenia. Data collection tools included clinical observation, medical history analysis, clinical interviews, and pre- and post-assessments using a social skills scale. The collected data were analyzed by comparing pre- and post-test results to measure the program’s effectiveness. The findings revealed a significant improvement in the participants’ social skills, allowing them to interact more effectively with their surroundings and reintegrate into their family environments following a reduction in the severity of their symptoms. Some initial resistance to therapy was observed due to auditory and visual hallucinations, but these diminished after three to four sessions. The study confirmed the effectiveness of psychoeducational therapy in improving social skills among individuals with schizophrenia, contributing to their reintegration and reducing relapse risks. Furthermore, it underscored the need to expand Arabic research in this field to develop more effective therapeutic interventions.

Abstract

The condition of individuals with mental, physical, or visual disabilities, whether temporary or permanent, is an issue that requires attention and study in order to highlight its dimensions, discuss the social status of these individuals, and their ability to act based on their legal capacity. They are an integral part of society and deserve to enjoy all the rights that others benefit from, especially as their numbers continue to rise. I have chosen Autism Spectrum Disorder as a model to better understand it. This study aims to examine the appropriate term for these individuals, its historical development, and the extent to which they can perform legal actions. I have provided an example of associations working in this field, such as the Yahya Association for Children with Autism in Tetouan, Morocco. For the preparation of this research, I relied on the historical method to study the term "disability," and the analytical and critical method to study the social behavior with this group, as well as to analyze the legal texts related to them. In this study, I emphasized the need to pay attention to the words used when talking about them, their right to full inclusion, and the necessity of granting them legal capacity.

Abstract

Studying a woman's cancer diagnosis and its impact on marital relationships, along with the husband's role in supporting her, is crucial due to the widespread prevalence of this disease and the significant marital challenges it can cause, sometimes even leading to divorce. This research analyzes the psychological and social challenges couples face, examines the illness's impact on their relationship, and highlights the husband's supportive role during this difficult period. Notably, the husband is also vulnerable to emotional setbacks, highlighting his need for psychological support as well. This research includes a systematic review of previous studies on couples facing breast cancer, employing both descriptive and analytical methodologies. The findings indicate that religious values and personal beliefs can serve as therapeutic tools, helping couples cope with the emotional trauma casused by the illness. Additionally, shared medical decision-making, mutual emotional support, and joint coping strategies play a vital role in reducing emotional distress. The study further concludes that the husband's emotional support is a key factor in enhancing the wife's quality of life. These findings underscore the need for counseling programs for spouses to help them navigate the challenges associated with the disease effectively.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the need to examine the psychological distress experienced by cancer patients, and to understand how the illness affects different aspects of their daily lives—particularly emotional, social, and cognitive domains. It aims to highlight the role of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) in alleviating symptoms of depression and promoting mental well-being, while also emphasizing the importance of sustained psychological support for this vulnerable group. The study further seeks to demonstrate the effectiveness of ACT in enhancing psychological flexibility—a crucial factor in helping patients adapt to the ongoing challenges of illness—and to underscore the significance of integrated psychological interventions involving collaboration between medical and mental health professionals. To achieve these objectives, the study presents a critical review and analysis of prior research on acceptance- and mindfulness-based interventions, focusing on key theoretical concepts, outcomes, and implications for practice. The findings suggest that ACT-based programs contribute significantly to improving psychological flexibility, which, in turn, supports better emotional regulation, coping skills, and overall quality of life. Moreover, the integration of psychological therapy into cancer treatment protocols contributes to providing comprehensive support for patients and enables medical teams to effectively address the psychological and social challenges associated with the cancer experience.

Abstract

The concept of al-Tasāmuh holds great significance in Islam, predating its discussion in the West and emphasizing coexistence within a framework of mutual respect and rights protection. This study examines al-Tasāmuh in the Quran and Sunnah, comparing it to the 1995 definition of Tolerance in foreign languages to clarify misconceptions that lead to distorted judgments about Islam. It highlights Islam’s broad scope of al-Tasāmuh, granting Muslims and non-Muslims the right to live peacefully, while distinguishing between human rights, which allow tolerance, and Allah’s rights, which remain non-negotiable. Research findings indicate that Tolerance has been inaccurately translated into Arabic, leading to misinterpretations, with studies confirming that Islamic al-Tasāmuh permits non-Muslims to live safely in Islamic society, provided they do not undermine its integrity. Critics of Islamic al-Tasāmuh often rely on inaccurate translations, linking it to secularism and detachment from religious and cultural identity. Furthermore, freedom has limits to prevent self-harm and harm to others. Islam does not impose religion, instead promoting dialogue and persuasion. To foster positive al-Tasāmuh, efforts should focus on educating future generations and enacting laws that protect all rights, ensuring that religious sanctities and moral values are not compromised. This study adopts an analytical and critical approach to provide a nuanced understanding of al-Tasāmuh in Islam.

Abstract

The significance of this topic lies in the role of religious awareness in strengthening ethical values among individuals and communities, with its profound impact on shaping social and moral concepts that contribute to the construction of a stable society. This research seeks to explore the extent to which religious awareness influences individuals' behaviors and perceptions of ethical values, as well as the role of various media in reinforcing these values. The research addresses the question: Can religious awareness bring about real, tangible changes in individuals' behaviors and their perceptions of ethical values in the modern world? The methodology used in this study is descriptive-analytical, focusing on examining Quranic verses and prophetic hadiths related to the topic in order to understand their implications in safeguarding individuals and communities psychologically, healthily, socially, economically, and politically. Data were collected through surveys and opinion polls to assess the impact of religious awareness on ethical values. The key findings highlight that religious awareness plays a pivotal role in promoting ethical values, confirming that individuals exposed to religious content adopt more positive behaviors and values in their daily lives. The study also reveals that various media platforms, such as religious sermons and videos, significantly contribute to shaping and altering ethical attitudes. In conclusion, the research emphasizes the importance of religious guidance as an effective tool for achieving moral change and reinforcing values within society.

Abstract

This study explores the impact of Bengkulu local language interference on the speaking skills of students learning Arabic at MAN Islam Cendekia Bengkulu. While language interference in second language acquisition is well-documented, there is limited research on the influence of regional languages, such as Bengkulu, in the Southeast Asian educational context. Using a qualitative approach, this study involved interviews and classroom observations of 30 students to identify patterns of Interference in Arabic pronunciation, sentence structure, and vocabulary. The findings revealed significant phonetic similarities between Bengkulu and Arabic, with local language phonetics contributing to noticeable speech errors, particularly in consonant articulation and sentence construction. These errors were linked to specific characteristics of the Bengkulu language, which affect the student's ability to produce Arabic sounds and structures accurately. The study emphasizes the need for targeted strategies to address language interference in Arabic language teaching. It recommends adjustments in curriculum design and teaching methods to help mitigate the impact of local language interference, ultimately improving students' Arabic proficiency. The implications of this research extend to teacher training and materials development, urging educators to incorporate contrastive linguistic analysis and oral drills that directly target problematic phonetic and syntactic areas. Future studies are encouraged to examine interference effects across other local Indonesian languages and explore longitudinal changes in student performance following targeted instructional interventions.

Abstract

The goal of oral and written Arab media is to send a message both inside and outside the country, to correct a misconception, or to spread a negative opinion about a particular aspect of politics, society, or the economy for a variety of reasons. Under the guise of modernizing the religious discourse, condemning its past, emancipating itself from religion, or restricting itself to international norms, this discourse had a presence in the Arab media. On the other hand, a different discourse seeks to portray Islam as a religion of peace, rights, and responsibilities as well as an embrace of others free from prejudice. The 2011 attack contributed to the growth of Islamophobia, which necessitates an inclusive conversation for understanding. This study will examine the consequences of this prevalent discourse on social cohesion in the Arab world. For this purpose, many institutions and scholars try to clarify the issue to improve social and religious life. Keyword: religious discourse; Islam; Arab media; Islamophobia
