Abstract

Updates in technological innovation in the field of Education, especially English will be urgently needed. Technology in Education has revolutionized manual teaching and learning on an innovative, open-source basis. One of the innovations based on Open-Source Software (OSS) is Electronic Reading (E-Reading). It is designed for EFL class, especially in reading, so that it can run actively and innovatively based on a curriculum that will be packaged attractively and creatively so students can easily accept it. This study discusses based innovation between teaching reading and OSS sophistication compared to previous teaching techniques. This article limits how an OSS can make learning more conducive and productive. As a result, E-Reading strives to provide a beneficial experience for students in learning Reading with full features in the latest version and will be in accordance with the current English learning curriculum.

Abstract

In the field of ELT, the issue in lack of vocabulary has emerged as a major obstacle. Thus, the purpose of this article was to discuss Language Reactor Toolbox (LRT) as a new concept for vocabulary teaching in EFL classrooms and how LRT can be utilized to address the problem in vocabulary teaching. The conceptual research design employed in this work was focused on conceptual models and specifically utilized conceptual description.  This article signified for academics to support the literature review as references for their empirical researches. The findings showed that LRT became a new concept of vocabulary teaching to increase students' interest in vocabulary learning. Moreover, the present article provided a gateway to the empirical study of LRT on chrome extension for vocabulary teaching. Future research could examine on the impact LRT in vocabulary teaching of EFL classroom.

Abstract

To comprehend the meaning in a sentence or passage, students need to practice and elevate their reading skill. Furthermore, some learning sources are made to facilitate students in improving their reading level. One of those is android-based module that was made by one of English lecturer in IAIN Kediri. After the product was published, this study aimed to implement it in reading class for second semester students. This study was conducted qualitatively by observing reading class where the android-based module is implemented. Additionally, this study provides students' response to the implementation of android-based module as well. Reading comprehension test was arranged to know whether or not the android-based module affect student's reading comprehension skill. In the end, this study indicates that android-based module helps the teacher to teach reading comprehension simply and facilitates students to elevate their reading comprehension skill. Moreover, this Android-based module obtained positive response from students proved by questionnaire result.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to investigate the attitudes around the use of the Duolingo program as a tool for enhancing students' vocabulary proficiency in the English language. The present study used a quantitative research methodology. The researcher administered a questionnaire to a group of students on their use of the Duolingo program. The participants in this research consisted of students enrolled in the English department at IAIN Kediri. The study sample consisted of 30 students that were enrolled in the English department. The findings indicate that 70% of respondents selected the option "Agree" for item number 1. This suggests that the usage of the Duolingo program for English language learning positively impacts students' vocabulary proficiency. Furthermore, the overall results of the 10-item questionnaire indicate a general agreement among participants. The Duolingo program may be seen as a valuable tool for acquiring vocabulary. The Duolingo program is a valuable tool for acquiring proficiency in the English language, since it not only facilitates learning but also enhances student engagement by providing an enjoyable and non-monotonous learning experience. The empirical evidence suggests that Duolingo is a proficient instrument for acquiring language skills.  The use of the Duolingo program has shown to be a successful method for enhancing pupils' proficiency in vocabulary.

Abstract

The demand for technology supports and engaging students in their second language beyond the classroom has caused an uptrend of using technology media, especially short videos on social media. In this current investigation, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) research approach is used in order to analyse the features, prospects, pitfalls, and approaches connected with social media, short video use in grasping English language. Altogether, the observations indicate that the students improve their language proficiency vocabulary and speaking and listening as they watch short videos on the apps like TikTok and Instagram Reels. However, there are problems in the integration of these tools such as issues concerning the content accuracy, distraction, and the inconsistency in educational content used. The paper also underscores significant responsibility of teachers in selecting and presenting quality content, as well as developing learners’ digital competencies to realise necessary learning affordances of these technologies. In overcoming these challenges, educators are in a better position to assist the students to overcome the challenges and use the short videos for learning a language. The results also present hypotheses for further research: the outcomes of the study also indicate the conditions under which the number of videos will give the best result and possible long-term effects of its using on the language achievement.

Abstract

This inquire about examined almost student’s perception on the utilize of Webtoon to move forward reading comprehension ability. Webtoon could be a modern apps that can be utilized to move forward reading skills by its words utilized and captivating pictures. The reason of this think about is to clarify whether or not Webtoon can improve student’s readability in reading comprehension capability. Abstract

This study analyses how students' pronunciation can be improved through the use of the ELSA Speak as a Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL) tool. ELSA stands for English Language Speech Assistant. The speech recognition function of ELSA Speak is powered by artificial intelligence (AI), and it provides users with feedback to help them improve their pronunciation, which improves their ability to speak English. This study investigates the influence and potential of the ELSA Speak application on the acquisition of pronunciation by employing a qualitative research method and a strategy that relies on library research. The findings highlight the significance of having an excellent content design, an efficient pedagogical and instructional design, gamified learning elements, automatic voice recognition technology, a secure learning environment, and individualised digital feedback. The findings of the study indicate that there is considerably significant potential for the ELSA Speak application to help students improve their pronunciation skills. The consequences of this research emphasize the necessity of utilising cutting-edge mobile applications for language learning and highlight the possible benefits for students interested in improving their pronunciation proficiency.
