Abstract

Interaction is the process by which people communicate and influence each other in thoughts and actions. Basically, humans in everyday life cannot be separated from their relationships with each other, where the behavior of each individual influences, changes or improves the behavior of other individuals or vice versa. In lectures, students must also have the ability to interact socially with lecturers. Student is the term for people who study at universities. A person can be called a student if he is active as a student and is registered at a university. Students are an intellectual community that better understands the problems that are occurring. Students have a role in analyzing problems that exist in society and then voicing them as aspirations to the government. As academics, students have the responsibility to implement the Tridharma of Higher Education. Students should be able to carry out academic tasks well and not rely on other people. Students have a role in society that needs to be maintained and strived to be achieved. Lecturers as student supervisors substantively play a role not only in teaching or transferring knowledge (cognitive), but are also required to be able to provide guidance and training. In Law no. 20 of 2003 concerning teachers and lecturers is confirmed in article 39 that; Apart from being tasked with carrying out administration, management, development and services in the Development Unit, lecturers are also professional staff tasked with planning and implementing processes and assessing learning outcomes, guidance and training. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesalahan penggunaan preposisi dalam teks deskriptif yang ditulis oleh siswa EFL (English as a Foreign Language). Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif dan studi kontrastif untuk mengidentifikasi kesalahan, memahami penyebabnya, dan memberikan strategi yang dapat meningkatkan pembelajaran preposisi dalam konteks pengajaran EFL. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan preposisi paling sering terjadi pada pemilihan preposisi, penghilangan, dan penambahan preposisi yang tidak diperlukan. Penyebab utama kesalahan tersebut adalah kurangnya pemahaman terhadap fungsi dan konteks preposisi dalam bahasa Inggris. Dengan penerapan strategi yang tepat dalam pemilihan preposisi dalam teks deskriptif dalam pengajaran EFL untuk mengurangi kesalahan preposisi, seperti mengidentifikasi kesalahan, memberikan latihan, dan penjelasan melalui pembelajaran konstruktif.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the perception of teachers about the use of Hume AI for assessing students’ speaking skills in senior high school. English teachers (n=4) from public senior high schools in North Sumatra participated in this study. This research employed a descriptive qualitative method with semi-structured interviews and field note observations. The data was examined by using thematic analysis. The result indicated that Hume AI has a positive impact on students’ enthusiasm and interest. However, several challenges hinder the optimal use of Hume AI in speaking assessments, particularly in spontaneous speaking, including their low motivation to learn English due to socio-economic factors, and insufficient access to technological infrastructure within schools. Despite these obstacles, teachers acknowledged the potential of Hume AI to enhance speaking assessment and recommended its integration as both a learning and assessment tool. These findings offer insightful information for teachers, policymakers, and AI developers looking to implement AI-based tools in language learning and assessment practices.

Abstract

Rasa bosan sering timbul pada diri peserta didik dalam proses belejar mengajar, begitu pula pada pembelajaran bahasa inggris. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, guru dapat menggunakan metode yakni metode ice breaking. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui persepsi guru terhadap penggunaan metode Ice Breaking dalam pembelajaran bahasa inggris di kelas. Peniliti menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif sebagai metode penelitian. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Wawancara dilakukan kepada dua orang guru di MTS Tembung. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah reduksi data, penyajian data, serta kesimpulan atau verifikasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, ditemukan bahwa persepsi guru bahasa inggris terhadap metode Ice breaking sudah sesuai dengan indikator keterampilan guru. Penerapan metode ini membantu guru dalam mengajar, membuat suasana kelas menjadi lebih santai dan menyenangkan serta peserta didik menjadi lebih konsentrasi dalam proses belajar mengajar. Metode Ice breaking merupakan metode yang efetktif untuk membantu guru dalam proses belajar mengajar, terutama dalam pembelajaran bahasa inggris.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan pemerolehan bahasa pada anak usia 3,1 tahun ditinjau dari fonologi, sintaksis, dan semantik. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2023 di Waringin, Kota Datar, Kabupaten Deli Serdang, Kecamatan Hamparan Perak, dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan penelitian studi kasus pada seorang anak perempuan berusia 3,1 tahun bernama Kamila. Data untuk penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui wawancara dan observasi langsung. Berdasarkan temuan penelitian, Kamila telah mempelajari semua pengucapan vokal (a), (i), (u), (e), dan (o). Kamila juga bisa mencampurkan beberapa kata menjadi satu ucapan. Namun jika makna yang dikemukakan tidak sesuai dengan makna sebenarnya, maka masih terdapat perbedaan makna kata dalam perolehan semantik Kamila.

Abstract

Penelitianzini bertujuanzuntuk mengeksplorasi dan menganalisis berbagai strategi yangzdapat digunakanzuntuk meningkatkanzkompetensi profesional guruzdalam rangka meningkatkan kualitas pengajaran di sekolah. Kompetensizprofesionalzguru mencakup kemampuan pedagogis, pengetahuan bidang studi, serta keterampilan dalam merancang dan mengimplementasikan metode pengajaran yang efektif. Penelitianzini menggunakan pendekatanzkualitatif denganzmetode studi kasus pada beberapa sekolah di Indonesia, yang melibatkan wawancara mendalam dengan guru, kepala sekolah, dan pengawas pendidikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kompetensi profesional guru dapat dicapai melalui program pelatihan berkelanjutan, kolaborasi antara guru, serta dukungan dari pihak sekolah dan pemerintah. Temuan ini diharapkanzdapat memberikanzkontribusi signifikan dalam pengembangan kebijakan pendidikan dan praktik pengajaran yang lebih efektif, sehingga dapat meningkatkanzkualitas pendidikanzsecara keseluruhan.
